Set your convergance really high and turn on vertical targetting to get that edge you need in those inevitable arcade perpetual turnfights.
huh I didn't even think of abusing vertical targeting that way. This should be fun.
Some sperg kept trying to teamkill me. It didn't end well for him.
Three times.
Best part is when I tail gunned him and his corpse slammed into an enemy spitfire that was also behind me.
Stomping that guy was totally worth the kick.
I only ever seem to get TK tards when I'm playing tanks. The amount of times I've been shot in the back of the turret is unreal.
I don't have the quote on hand from Lassar (college), but 1.41.30 should hit in the next 24 hours. And 1.43 is aimed for sometime this month. Fingers crossed. :v:
Its not 1.43, but it had some semi-sweeping changes and was briefly tested on dev.

Here's your proof boys
yay patch
[editline]3rd September 2014[/editline]
soon
I recorded a shitty fight I did to show off and also because you don't need to climb if you're good at the game

Engine noises still not working so I put my bad music taste there instead
So is your technique to stay in the vertical while using the high roll rate to stay out of his aim? It obviously worked out for you but I feel like with his energy advantage he still should have been able to take you down.
So is your technique to stay in the vertical while using the high roll rate to stay out of his aim? It obviously worked out for you but I feel like with his energy advantage he still should have been able to take you down.
Sort of. It's a little bit more complicated than that but I can break it down for you if you want.
The key advantage the G-10 has over the P-51 atm is its acceleration, my aim in that fight was to neutralise his speed/alt advantage so I could start putting my engine power to work. The P-51 does retain energy much better and pick up speed in a dive much quicker but I can use that to my advantage because it increases his turn radius (I really doubt he throttled down in a fight where energy was so key, I did not). It's all about making yourself an awkward target. You want your opponent to move and turn as much as possible so they spend as much energy as possible.
Just because I have 5 minutes to burn, here's everything I do:
0:00 - I spot the Mustang. I was climbing at about 280~kmh and he had just come out of a dive, it takes me a few seconds to figure out how fast he's approaching and for me to make a decision.
0:07 - I turn course to fly directly under the Mustang.
0:19 - I see him start to roll, anticipating a Split-S I also roll but hold it for a moment until I see if he commited. He did, so I pulled back and did my own Split-S. I don't keep it 100% in the vertical because I want to dodge any shots lined up in my path.
0:35 - Pull up, see him turning onto me so I roll into the turn as well then flip and change directions to try and burn more of his energy. He doesn't take the bait because he's smart.
0:43 - I level out with the intent of accelerating and picking up speed.
0:46 - Sod that, he's coming back again, another Split-S.
0:55 - Keep the loop going because he's going for a killing blow. Fires, misses because I kept up the loop.
1:00 - Flip over and change direction immediately because I thought it unpredictable enough. Loop is off-centre to avoid gunfire once again.
1:12 - He goes high, I go low. The Mustang plays too impatiently and goes for another shot, but misses because my loop is quite wide.
1:25 - I roll here because I think I can line up to shoot him as he loops, but he's slower than I think and turning tighter than I hoped so I flip over again for another Split-S.
1:47 - The Mustang does something completely retarded. Despite still having energy on me, he panics and tries to stall-fight me with his alt advantage. He wants to flip at the top of his stall and fall back on top of me.
1:50 - I drop landing flaps because I'm suave, sexy, and know what he's doing.
1:52 - I spray like an idiot and miss constantly because stalling aircraft are hard to aim.
1:54 - He takes critical damage, and is probably basically dead here.
1:56 - D E A D B O Y S
Hope that helps you any.
LUT Texture to Contrast, and then changes to the Tone Mapping settings.
My monitor shows darker blacks and most monitors. It's technically a good thing because you get a much higher contrast image, but because I imagine most games are designed with typical LCD monitors in mind, it means I sometimes have a hard time seeing things. War Thunder is especially bad about this where some things can be very dark in broad daylight, especially in Ground Forces.
Really, I think the issue is how aggressive the HDR is in preventing bloom, but we don't have access to tweak the camera HDR settings.
So, because it's so monitor based, your mileage may vary, but here's what I use. First image is the default settings, second is my own settings.

I played with those settings and even though it improved it, i thought the colors and brightness were still kinda off. I found this brightness setting under main parameters (you have to scroll down to find it):

and it was on the darkest setting. I turned it up a bit and it fixed my issue.

I love seeing one on one engagements like this, my only problem is halfway through doing any of this with my luck I would get bounced by a friend of said mustang and promptly torn to shreds.
Still, excellent work. That was very enjoyable to watch.
Might just be me but I think rockets have convergence now. Don't know how I feel about that.
Edit:
Took my rockets off then put them back on again. Now they're shooting straight like normal.
Jesus fucking christ. I hate some people so much.
Decided to play a round about 20 minutes before I had to go to work.
Sadly this last enemy in the game was a spitfire, who was straight up faster than me. Rather than actually fighting me in any way whatsoever, he just climbed for 20 minutes to 10km and just waited.
Eventually he won. I had to quit because I had to go to work.
What the fuck do those people even play the game for? Obviously not for fun and obviously not for grinding because they barely get any RP or money from it.

I'm pretty much 100% positive those kinds of people play the game to fuck with people like you and me who just want to play the game.

I guess being an asshole releases as much endorphin as a dose of crack cockaine does for an addict, thus giving a buzz to the asshole.
Otherwise, I don't know
50 cals are basically pretty awful now. takes so many rounds to kill something
50 cals are basically pretty awful now. takes so many rounds to kill something
Shvaks, Hispanos, Type-99s, and Ho-5s literally do not damage planes right now.
got in a dogfight with a jap earlier in my p39, shot his tail of, then a shithead team mate in a p26 managed to piss a few fiddies into him and get the kill.
In a fit of rage I fucked his elevator with my 37mm and watched him fly in a straight line for a good 5 minutes before plunging into the sea. It was worth the 17k.
I don't really think teamkilling people is justified even in those situations.
I was flying an N1K2Ja today, dove on a P80 and managed to shoot him down. Turned around and this Ki-84 that was chasing him for minutes without ever getting close or even landing a shot suddenly started chasing and firing at me. Told him to piss off a few times but he just teamkilled me and bailed out of his plane.
Joke's on him though, his plane costs millions to repair and mine doesn't.

I'll never understand why people overreact so much about this kind of thing. Like the time I shot down a plane a PBJ was chasing, the PBJ pilot bitched about how I wasted his time and ammo, and then wasted more ammo shooting at me, like a 75mm in a video game is supposed to be intimidating.
If you're gonna try and TK at least learn to aim properly
I've raked an ally once because I got pretty pissed at the fact that the soviet bomber I intercepted at 5000m (that took 4 minutes to climb up to) dove down with me trying to slam 50s into his ass the entire way, but not being able to put him down due to LOLJOYSTICKWOBBLE. The guy's on fire and finally about to die when suddenly a teammate in a down-tiered yak pulls up, shoots him once and gets the kill.
I got pissed and did a single rake on his wing, which (rightfully) pissed him off and he started trying to shoot me down. But since I use a joystick he couldn't out maneuver me and I just sat on his 6 for about 3 minutes intentionally holding my fire. Eventually we both got bored and double teamed an enemy 110.

Dude, the immature players out there are astounding. It actually stopped me from playing for a month or so out of frustration.
I had experienced a couple rounds, the first where I accidentally fired off a round towards an ally. Didn't hit him, didn't even come close. So his "clan-buddy" lines up behind me and lays into me with 20mm, destroying me. Telling me "Don't shoot at my ally, noob"
I went off on the cheeky motherfucker and exacted my revenge with a ram via biplane-
Next round over, completely different group. I was chasing down airplanes and after a kill i turned my attention towards a somewhat distant B25 that was evading fire from two other aircraft. I started towards him, knowing I probably wouldn't make it. So some ass-hat rolls up behind me and blows my wing off, talking shit about how 'he hates people like me, kill stealers'.
I mean FFS, we were in T2 aircraft (at least I was) and the bomber was already on fire at about 1.5km away. There was no WAY either of us were going to make it regardless. How in the FUCK did i steal his kill? I just aimed towards the biggest target in the sky and started towards it. I never even fired off a shot.
So I put the game down after that, pretty pissed. People get WAY to upset over this fabled "Kill Stealing".
No one legitimately looks at another aircraft someone is shooting at and thinks "I'm going to steal that." It's more of a "Ooh, there's an enemy there and I want points." We're a team for fucks sake. Get over it and move onto the next target. [sp]Instead of ruining the fun of someone else.[/sp]
Okay yeah it's completely impossible to play brits right now in AB. After 1 game I can just tell how much they completely screwed over anything armed with Hispanos. It honestly seemed like that the 4x .303s on the LF IX did more against a Zero than the cannons or the .50s on the XIVe did.
Shvaks, Hispanos, Type-99s, and Ho-5s literally do not damage planes right now.
Wait, what did I miss?
I stop playing for like a week, and come back to find everything now fires rubber bullets.
Oh FFS gaijin, so it seems mostly all cannons have been nerfed, with german 30mms the most. And 50cals strong as usual.
Pretty much seals my ticket to only fly high tier US aircraft. 50Cals are just that more powerful, on top of that much more ammo.
Does this mean I can go seal clubbing with my .50 Hiens for now?

I thought they nerfed the 50 cals and buffed cannons? My 50s have definitely been less flammable since the patch hit.
Edit: I see everyone raging on the forum but it's not entirely clear why. What exactly went down?
so why the fuck does the nipponsabre come off of the naval fighter line and not the army fighter line?
so why the fuck does the nipponsabre come off of the naval fighter line and not the army fighter line?
Probably 'cause the Army line gets the Ki200
which is strange because the Navy also had a Ki200 labelled as the J8M
so what would make sense is if the Navy line got the J8M and the Army line had the Sabre
I think you guys are overreacting a bit, the 50cals, mg 151 and nippon cannons are all fine. Yeah, 50s aren't flame throwers anymore but they're still pretty deadly. Shvaks and hispanos on the other hand... 2/3s of my hispanos kept sparking and the shvaks didn't seem to do anything at all.
Also, what the fuck did they do to my beloved zeroes? My a6m5 and a6m3 mod 22 kept stalling at 4000+ meters.
