Despite seeing a whole match full of HO-229s, and several J7W1s, I have yet to see any R2Y2s.
If you play upper rank Japanese or Americans you see them very very frequently. Ive even seen a V3 or two flying around.
Pretty much any game with a Ki-200 in it is gonna have an R2Y

You say "upper tier" but I was in some MM vomit of a Midway game with 3 P/F80s and 2 canberras; the Japanese team was mostly Ki-84s, some N1Ks and a J7W1. Maybe I just didn't see any jets because I got instagibbed by the J7W1 whilst BNZing an N1K.
Honestly though, the F7F and J7W1 just kill all the things (so long as there aren't N1Ks); they even killsteal from other slower teammates. I watched an F7F kill all 6 of the enemy players on Hokkaido.
That thing is going to get Mosquito nerfed.
Let me describe my RB experience:
1. Take off. Watch fair portion of team crash from stalling or run off the runway. Add anger to anger reserve.
2. Fly for 20 minutes. Relax a bit forget about mouthbreathers crashing on takeoff.
3. Find black dot. Get above black dot. Try to shoot at him. Miss or only get a few glancing shots
4. realize rest of team died. Get tailed by one guy, acknowledge its impossible to lose someone tailing you. Die.
Get jack all for lions and RP. Realize why I quit this game and that I am more retarded than the shit that comes out of sarah palins vagina when it comes to air gameplay.
I have one better:
Flying american tier 4. People cannot be -that- dumb in tier 4, right???
Nope.
All flying low. Jap planes fly like fucking jets.
They get gang banged, I fly off to the other side, takes forever cause a P-51 sucks in this game compared to RL stats.
Come toward the battles, 1v7.
Immediately I try to boom and zoom.
I go down on one target, they immediately know where I am.
They just turn on a fucking dime, with my little BB guns doing little damage.
A Ki-84 runs up beside me sprinting while I'm at a jogging speed of 600km/h, it tears my plane apart, putting it on fire.
10,000 lions, 200 RP toward a plane that costs 120,000 RP to get.
Fun.
Sounds like you guys just suck. If you're unable to shake a tail or properly BnZ, then you should play some practice matches.
Another thing is, is that it's usually better to go with a lemming team than it is to fly off on your own. If you end up alone, you will always over commit, you will never get assistance, and you will end up dying alone. If you lemming team of bearcans flies at just over the treetops into the center of the map, you should stick with them. When the F dubs start diving on the group, theres a better chance of one diving on a lemming than there is one diving on you.
Team work is a mutual thing; nobody is going to fly 9km out of their way to go assist you because you flew off on your own. If you stick next to someone during your climb and for most of the battle, they'll usually try and help you because theres an immediate reward for it; killing the bogie on your tail.
If you're complaining about RB, then clearly you're not flying the F7F or the J7W1 which kill everything.
Also, F7F is impervious to multiple 20mm and 30mm cannonshells...
The silhouette for the f7f is just insane. If you're looking at it directly from the rear, theres almost nothing to shoot at. The wings are paper thin and the body is thin as fug. Almost any hit it takes from the rear is just a glancing hit, but if a solid hit lands on the wings then they're gonna fly off.
cause a P-51 sucks in this game compared to RL stats.
Woah woah how the fuck did I miss this
This plane is so fucking overpowered though. It's pretty much better in every way but low alt climb than every 109 in the game but it's matched vs the F-4 half its games. Should be 5.7 rank. From what you typed it sounds like you're not paying enough attention and are just trying to ride people's asses rather than actually going for proper bnzs. If someone turns literally should not affect you, it means you can shoot their cockpit instead of their rudder.

That's just it though, I landed a Mk 103 shell, Air Targets belt on the wing of an F7F in RB while flying my ME410, got the hit notification, credits, exp and all. F7F shrugs it off and turns away as if it was a nerf dart.
If my Amerispit is even nicked by 30mm on the other hand, 2/3rds of the plane goes black and it ceases wanting to fly.
I am looking for people to fly with in RB that commonly use british planes at late rank 3/early rank 4 as playing alone in RB became tiring very quickly.
I want to get my mitts on the Hawker Hunter whenever that gets released, but I still have quite a ways to go. I am too jaded to go back to my german planes, I really don't have any progress for the americans and russians, and japan I have left almost completely untouched.
Also getting the original canberra from the british tree would be a nice little endeavor.
Brit Canberra is superior because it gets the cookie bomb

Thats because the German 30mm is completely broken and doesn't perform anything close to how it did historically. I've never had good luck with them and I personally prefer the German MG151 20mm over the 103.

No that's just simply how slow it is.
so I tried the f7f, yeah it climbs and maintain energy very well, as well as having a shit load of guns. Other then that, it handles very badly at speeds, turns horrible. Seriously Its ridiculously hard to get a firing position on a target.

I've been playing practice matches for ages. I've been playing flight sims since I was 6, but something just isn't clicking. I fly the P40 in RB the most, and I really do try to BNZ as best as I can. Fly in, fire off a few rounds, climb back to cloud layer and wait for another target. All while trying to stay near friendlies as well.
idk, this is like css competitive servers before I had gotten decent. I started out shit, and by repeatedly slamming myself into the wall that is the skill ceiling in the game I got quite good (I'm MG1 in CSGO atm). So maybe if I just keep trying I'll get better, but I am trying to do what you say above
So I've reduced the ammo load in my T-35 to 48 APHE shells for the 76 and 50 rounds 45s and now I'm exploding less.
I guess that DOES work
T-44 is made of magic, somehow managed to kill this guys crew twice over bar the driver and he still turns around both times and nails me with a single shell despite having no gunner, loader or commander and having a destroyed engine, breach and rack.
I think gaijin went a little overboard on the whole "fixed russian tanks being knocked out when some crew died" because at the moment its "Russian tanks are only knocked out when 90% of the modules and ALL crew members are dead"
Holy shit the P-400 is amazing compared to the P40, I managed to get 6 kills in a row in Arcade. Which is a record for me but scrub level for you guys I know

Yeah I found that my win/loss went up dramatically when I found the plane that fit me in each tier.
That plane generally tends to be a known UFO, though.
In amrika 2, for example, I was kinda meh until I unlocked the F6F and started carrying the team.

If you're having trouble in an F7F, you should stick to arcade biplanes.
The F7F is absolutely amazing and easy to master. It climbs and gains speed like it's got a rocket motor shoved up it's ass, and it maintains energy better than any other fighter I've seen. It compresses like a mother fucker in dives but you don't need to be doing 700km/h to jump a guy. You'll outrun literally every other aircraft in your tier bracket.
Playing American for me has essentially boiled down to 3 steps.
1. Climb.
2. Be fast.
If you're in danger.
3. Climb while being fast.
Because of the half decent airframes and engines American planes tend to have, they can both zoom away at high speeds while maintaining a shallow climb.
For whatever reason, whenever my F7F takes marginal engine damage, the cowl flaps open and close non stop
~halloween has came early~
Is there like, some kind of secret to not getting your pilot sniped out your plane?
I play War Thunder pretty often, and have even gone and studied basic dogfighting techniques to try and make myself better. But I am seriously on the verge of giving up on flying all together because every time I line up a kill, one shot flies in from nowhere and snipes my pilot.

Always take one second to check your surroundings for anyone coming from behind, above or under.
It also depends on your plane's armor and what ammo is your killer using. American Ground Belts can punch through anything. And if your killer just happens to have 20mm guns loaded with ground belts...

That spawn has been there since it first went open beta, I'm starting to wonder if it's intentional since they apparently still haven't removed it.
