All of these make good fits for premium vehicles at least.. Now finding a place to PUT THEM is the hard part.
Oh they definitely make good premiums, people just don't want to see those in a main tree I guess, which might be some people's argument with the M6. Which is stupid because the M6 makes a good branch up to the T32/T29/T34/T30 heavies.
No it's not.
I think it is. I've already got the n1k2, ki84 otsu and j7w1 in 1.5 days. At this rate (~150k RP per day) i'm going to unlock every single japanese plane before the 2 week premium runs out.

I would be pretty mad if I paid for era 4 premium and it deflated to era 3 one eventually.
Zeroes aren't very good planes (other than the clipped wing A6M3) and against good players you will be mostly helpless. Talisman any plane with "Ki-" in its name if you want to grind. The twin engined premium thing is pretty good too.
The A6M3 Reisen (the clipped one) and the A6M2 are some of my highest winrate planes ever. Even if they are slow, most people on US and RU teams are total shitters who dogfight Zeroes. However, I do agree that you should strive for the Ki-84 and start flying that because the Zero loses relevance the higher you go up in the tech tree.
The thing with A6M3 and A6M2 is that they aren't really all that slow. I mean, they aren't exactly fast either but they aren't anywhere near as far behind in sustainable speed at their rank than the A6M5 is.
The worst part about the Zero is how many of the fucking things you have to grind past to get to the N1K
I've been playing nothing but zeroes for the past 2 weeks. A6M2 both models: - very good because the planes that face them aren't that much faster - shit ammo count, have to land and reload after each engagement A6M3 reisen: - The most agile zero in the game - super fuckin slow, i swear it has the same FM as the chaika A6M3 mod 22 and mod 22 ko: - biggest zeroes in terms of wing span, can safely dive at 740km/h - dont turn as well (mod 22 is slightly faster than mod 22ko but ko has better turn rate) A6M5 Reisen, ko, otsu: - Fall in between a6m3 mod22 and a6m3 reisen in terms of performance. Faster than a6m3 reisen but not as fast as mod 22, turn better than mod22s but not as tight as a6m3 reisen - smaller than a6m3s therefore have higher recoil - biggest issue is their BR. They face spacecats in most matches. So, flying them feels like fighting jets in props tl;dr: a6m3 mod 22 is the best zero.
No it's not.
It is a zero. If you are good with zeros or have the capability to attempt to become better at a plane, then I don't see how it isn't worth it. It is a tier 4 premium plane that efficiently researches all of the tiers.
Depends on what you expect from the investment I suppose. I would be pretty mad if I paid for era 4 premium and it deflated to era 3 one eventually.
Well, i bought it to grind tier 4 planes and jets and at this rate i'm going to grind every single one of them in less than 2 weeks. I didn't buy it so i can have yet another zero. What do YOU expect to get out of a premium plane?
I started grinding the Japanese tree not long ago, and to be completely honest. The A6M2 and A6M3 has been some of the most fun I've had for a while. Sure, get hit once and your paperplane will burn up. Everyone and their grandma will outrun you. But, most of the people you go up against, will try to dogfight with you. I've had plenty of succes just baiting people into try and BnZ, then try and turn around to face me. Which very fast will lead them to have zero energy left and me on their tail. You gotta aim really well though.
For tier 4 Japanese which is recommended, the Ki-84 hei or the N1K2-Ja? I've heard both are good for their roles, but what are their differences? From what I've read the Shiden-Kai is described as a Zero on steroids, but how does the 84 hei Hayate perform?

It's also amazingly stable and you can easily land it with dead ailerons using the rudder instead. Also it has a completely colossal ammo stock (900 rounds of 20mm total) and alright 20mm shell spewers. Worth noting N1K also can carry a whopping ton of bombs (4x250kg) or a single pair of rockets (instakill a B-17 or something if you are good). Ki-84 quite a bit faster, retains energy better, and it has a pair of 30mm fuckoff cannons that pack a harder burst-punch which is handy for very fast passes and high deflection shots, but are far less spammable and worse at range. You really can't go wrong with any of them, I would honestly say N1K is slightly easier to get hang of with how stable it is and with the K-84 having bit more of problems with going too fucking fast for it's own good. On the other side, the planes before Ki-84 are all great. Meanwhile the planes before N1K are zeroes zeroes zeroes zeroes... Ki-96 is hilarious, for instance. Zero might be effective but it's opposite of fun.
Also with the 2nd n1k you can unlock the rockets first instead of last for better b17 killing efficiency
Well to be frank, I was hoping to grind it to get into the higher tiers of Japanese planes. Every time I team up against them, they whoop my ass no matter what I do. That and the little extra premium would help me grind out the rest of my upgrades needed for my f8f-1b. they're being a bit of a bitch to get.
Holy shit this 6km view distance limit is ruining RB. 9/10 times your team will just hurrdurr 8-10km away while you VERY OBVIOUSLY are getting jumped by 3 enemy planes. Either that or your teammate is screaming over chat to help him and you have no idea what's going on until it's too late because "lol no proxy spotting, radios never existed" -Gaijin [editline]26th October 2014[/editline] not to mention it becomes 100 percent impossible to coordinate attacks/defense when my team is a bunch of cheeki breeki sovoks [editline]26th October 2014[/editline] and if the match I'm in right now is representative, it also encourages people to arcade-swarm on one enemy plane because it's the only one they can "see"
yeah I've noticed an insane amount of kill stealing going on in RB now, didn't used to happen because everyone could pick their target, but now you HAVE to follow your target to the ground if it doesn't give you the kill in the air.
I finally got the Shinden and it's about as mediocre as I was expecting it to be. Still an absolutely gorgeous plane though.
I finally got the Shinden and it's about as mediocre as I was expecting it to be. Still an absolutely gorgeous plane though.
When I first got the Shinden, I expected it to be maneuverable and I actively went into turnfights and fought spits, fockewulfs, mustangs, and a bunch of other planes for the first hour or two End result, it felt like the last dogfight scene in Sky Crawlers
every J7W1 I see basically dives on you, chews you up and spits you out or it dives, misses, and climbs back to the sun
I've found the best way to play my J7W is to stop applying logic. I have to embrace the inner shitter. My best matches involve climbing straight at the enemy, happily accepting (and often winning) head-ons, and then diving on any scum lower than me like a riled wombat. And then shakily trying to climb away and hoping they can't catch up. It sounds retarded, but I bagged three fighters and a jet last match I tired it, so I don't know anymore. v:v:v

I've been having huge problems doing well with my Shinden right now since it's so not what I'm used to from the japanese tree plus the fact it's controls are wonky as fuck so I can't turn at all without losing altitude at <400kph which makes bomber hunting a pain but by god every time I shred something instantly with those cannons then zoom away with ease it feels great
I think the Peanut Butter & Jelly might be my favorite ground attacker yet. That tank gun has to be the most satisfying way to kill pillboxes known to man.
The more I fly the Shinden the more I'm getting used to it. It reminds me of the P-38 back when it had a super low BR with its God awful and completely wrong flight model. You can make it work by using the tactics Doom describes, but it's not a forgiving plane and you need to be accurate with your guns because if you miss your pass you might not get another chance. I'm starting to like it more, especially because those 30mm cannons fuck shit up. But God help you if somebody gets the drop on you and gets on your tail. If it's a jet you might be able to out-turn it, but no guarantees. Something is funky with the plane though. I was doing some testing using full real + a joystick and confirmed for myself that the elevator has very limited pitch authority. At full deflection, it is impossible to stall the plane in a level turn because you just can't create enough pitch to do it. In fact, in a level turn it's not hard for you to actually gain speed because the pitch authority is so bad. The reason the Shinden turns slow isn't because it's unstable, the pilot blacks out, or the plane disintegrates. It's because the Shinden physically cannot pitch up hard enough to do any of those things.
What's the difference between the two n1k2s in terms of performance?
What's the difference between the two n1k2s in terms of performance?
I'm not sure there is one besides the payloads being moved around when researching, and it looks different.
What's the difference between the two n1k2s in terms of performance?
In performance? Nothing. But the Ja gets double the payload, and can unlock rockets as a tier 1 modification.
I'm not sure there is one besides the payloads being moved around when researching, and it looks different.
Climb rate is different, isn't it? the stat card says so. [editline]27th October 2014[/editline] Also, tried the j7w1, went against jets and got owned (f84s). But yeah, pretty sure the flight model is broken. I'm diving at like 650kph IAS and then as soon as i turn to the side my speed drops down to 350. [editline]27th October 2014[/editline] Also, the premium zero is well worth the price. Unlocked and bought n1k2, ki 84 otsu & hei, j7w1 and g8n1 in 2.5 days.
Unlocked the P-47 D25... ...And almost ground my way to the P-47 D50 within two hours of having it. I have a newfound respect for American planes. I need to beat it into my head that turning unless it's a strict 1v1 is a no-no, however.
