Sure wish I could play this game for more than 10 minutes without my gpu driver crashing
This this this. The Talisman reward ratios are really weird, but they basically turn your aircraft into a premium plane without the money bonus (and who the hell runs out of money in this game?). I've bought a fuckload of Talismans and they all put the standard planes up to equal or better than the premiums within their rank. Dropping 6k Geagles on a single copy-pasta premium vehicle when you can just throw a talisman on the real variant is dumb. You have to be very rich, very stupid, or both.

ad hominem argument
So throw a talisman on an SU-100 and show me until you do that, your argument that the T-34 gets you 220% isn't relevant. Besides my argument that buying the SU-122P allows you to bypass having to wait to get to that tier still stands. By the time I would have gotten to the SU-100 and talisman'd it I could have made a shitload more RP with the SU-122P. IMO the investment is worth it. Because now I can use the SU-122P's strengths to my advantage and research whatever the hell I want, because not only am I skipping ahead to era 4 battles with a vehicle that drops shitloads of money and RP in my lap, I'm doing it with a vehicle that is fully efficient at researching EVERY era.
[t]http://sinus.cz/~milan/tiger_of_the_sinai.png[/t] no idea
I put that flag on my Zis-30 because the gun comes out the middle of the star.
i can't be the only person that uses decals to make improvised (ie, shitty) camo, can i? [t]http://i.imgur.com/lmyd4jW.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/czaDANd.png[/t]
How? Maybe then I could use a Nicolas Cage camo on my tank and cause fear to spread in the battlefield!
There's decals you can plaster over both your tanks and planes, but you you can't import your own, you have a selection.
Aw yes [t]http://cloud-3.steampowered.com/ugc/576771286488885120/43C06BBE68C3972BC36D9A4E067F3A8AEDBA0E28/[/t]
holy shit i've never played arcade before now it's like stealing candy from children holy shittttttt
Complete trash. Gets oneshotted by German long 88mm at any range and any angle, while having gun identical to T-34-85 and being SLOWER than T-34-85, and having 1.3 higher rating than T-34-85. It's absolutely irredeemable.
I tried so hard to like the T-44 but it's really just no good. The armor is slightly better but against the guns the T-44 faces it really makes no difference. The gun is what really holds it back. The 85mm is a solid gun at era 3 but it's just really lacking at era 4. If I remember right, the T-44 felt a little more nimble than the T-34-85, but I don't think it was faster in a straight line. It was better rotating in place which came in handy for the times you had to dance around a tank twice your size. I'm glad I did my turbogrind and got that out of my system during the CBT. I've been taking it easy since the game got released now that I'm not pressured to play at specific times and under the time limit of knowing it was all going to be wiped. I'm about two tanks into Era 3 and I'm no longer on premium so I'm taking my time to get to the T-54 this time around.

Being insulted before or during an explanation, as to why you are wrong, does not automatically make it Ad Hominem.

That takes some guts. The point is you think that Premium vehicles make MORE RP than the contemporaries with talisman which is wrong. Also, with 6000 RP FUKKIN GEAGLES you could have basically free-exp'd all the way to SU-100 and THEN bought the talisman there, so no, you didn't really save any time (because time IS money). You also still don't seem to understand that SU-100 is a better vehicle than SU-122P. [editline]22nd May 2014[/editline] Guess what advantages does SU-122P have over IS-2 which is the same battle rank? 2 second faster reload time (down from 27 seconds WOOHEY some hot shit here), and respawn (I am not even sure?) so you can die twice in a row. Guess what disadvantages does SU-122P have over IS-2? EVERYTHING ELSE. [editline]22nd May 2014[/editline] I mean, I would be really reluctant to admit my mistake if I blew $40 on a piece of pointless shit as well, but that's kinda what happened here.

Am I the only one that thinks they should limit arty use to light tanks in realistic/sim battles? Because when it gets dropped on you every single time you try to shoot someone it gets fucking retarded I fought against two [del]heavy tanks[/del] well hidden tanks who didn't even use their guns, they just sat afar and bombed me. In tanks.
Heavy tanks don't get artillery so that kinda didn't happen.
Heavy tanks don't get artillery so that kinda didn't happen.
Then who was gun
Then who was gun
Ghost shells (don't display, do damage) still are a thing so it's possible they shot you and the game just accidentally the whole shot [editline]22nd May 2014[/editline] Like, neither the smoke nor the sound nor the shell nor the hit effects appear when that happens. It's a perfectly invisible magic bullet.

In tanks.
I don't think people realize what they're implying when they say "only light tanks should have artillery." The problem with limiting artillery to only light tanks is that artillery now disappears from the game after Era 1. You would have to have light tanks with massively inflated BR to act as "scout tanks" whose only purpose is to call artillery down on tanks. They would be under-armed, under-armored, and wouldn't even necessarily be faster than the tanks they're supposed to be calling down artillery on. The scout tank is a flawed concept and one that was more or less abandoned in real life.* You get literally the exact same problem that scout tanks have in World of Tanks and World of Tanks' spotting system actually is built around that kind of gameplay. The only way I can see this working is if we get a whole new class of vehicle added like armored cars or something that gets a significantly more effective artillery call in and because they are wheeled would move significantly faster than the tanks. Even then, I'm still not too crazy about the idea because "scouts" are a flawed concept in this kind of game. The game, maps, matchmaker, objectives, and so on, would need to be designed from the ground up to support this kind of gameplay. It would require extensive changes to the spotting system, which is admittedly supposed to be getting overhauled but we have no idea into what. Maybe later on down the line it could be a large patch to the game where they change up the mechanics to support this kind of thing, but in the current environment I just don't see it being all that interesting or skillful. *You still once in a while get weird things like the M3 Bradley and BRM-1 but those are exceptions of questionable utility.
The issue is that everyone, who can use it, starts the battle with it. I've seen five people call artillery down at the same time in a sector. It was terrifying.
The issue is that everyone, who can use it, starts the battle with it. I've seen five people call artillery down at the same time in a sector. It was terrifying.
Competent players don't do this and save it for the times where it can really make the difference. Plus, it's a lot harder to spam now after the patch and significantly less responsive. I just don't see artillery as being a big deal right now. Maybe I'm just lucky and have never come across true spam but artillery's biggest and hugely game-breaking problem right now is that camera, not the artillery itself. Even still, I wouldn't be opposed to something to prevent 5 people from calling artillery at once. Like maybe if artillery was shared (to a limited extent, you don't want one person hogging it all) to prevent the 5 person call in it would be fine. But as I said, in my experience at least, I haven't had any problems with artillery ever. Even before the nerf.
As much as arty seems abusable, I still think it needs to be in the game I'd take getting artied by player called in arty ten thousand times over playing absolutely fucking dire peakaboo tank combat
The arty as it is now is way better than WoT's system. WT's arty actually does what it's supposed to, stop camping and encourage movement by means of an area denial barrage. They only need to make the warning period a bit longer by a few seconds, so you have a better chance of escaping if you're playing in a KV-1 or someshit.
IMO, they should increase the spread a bit for the artillery. I've killed people before in 1v1 engagements with a broken gun by sitting just barely outside the artillery zone and blocking them from leaving it.

I really like the artillery system. War Thunder's artillery is exactly what World of Tanks wanted and needed to be, but failed miserably in being. As for the bolded, they did that in yesterday's patch. The ranging shots now take much longer to come in, and once they do come in, those 5(?) shots take much longer to complete. The final barrage now doesn't come in until what feels like at least 30 seconds after the call in. You have a long ass time now to move out of the way. Much longer than before.

Artillery won't be nearly as necessary as it's now once the prime camper removing device - skygods - are in the game again. Killing 6 player tanks in a single sortie in Tu-2 never got old in the beta.
my only successful bombing run in the beta was when I dropped 12/15 250kg bombs from the premium wellington and every single one of them landed on a friendly tank and annihilated him "successful"
