Are you sure that it doesn't give you the nation's plane you used to get the last 5th kill? I mean I used only Brits this morning and got the DB-7. My friend used only Germans and got the He-51.

Hadn't thought about that.. But it says on the site it is random and that you won't get a plane if you already have it.
But I used germany and got the float plane

I was playing a german captured kv-1 and got the yak. My friend was playing it as well and got a hydro he-51.

DB-7 is fun. The guns are utter wank but you are a quickly flying tank.
Watching three massive DB-7s hound down a panicking Yak-1 is comedy gold, too.
I caved in and bought the prem KV-1B. I do not regret that.

Surprisingly there's pretty [URL="https://www.diffchecker.com/9w9evwtf"]big differences[/URL] between the Havoc I and the DB-7 flight models. DB-7 has seemingly much more powerful engines (almost twice as powerful) with two speed compressors.

"Mid tier"
The only "Mid tier" plane you can get is the XF5F which is nothing but a comedy hurr option that gets your wings broken.
It's armed with 400 rounds of .50 ammo (and a bit extra of at that rank perfectly useless .303). It's not a good plane.
