Head-Ons can be effective, albeit extremely risky at times, if used appropriately.
I've found owning high caliber weapons helps the most (obviously, right?) and therefore usually opt for head-ons in [u]bulkier aircraft against smaller fighters or bombers[/u].
[b]Always take altitude[/b], never dive into, below, or to the side of your opponent.
[b]Begin firing high[/b] at roughly 1.5km (~1mi) in distance, aiming above. Close in the arc distance as the distance between you closes. Convergence should be at about 0.8-0.5km (~0.50-0.30mi).
[b]Don't be afraid to bail[/b] out of the incursion, bailing out early usually leads you to live longer than waiting until the last second or trying to play 'Chicken'. Usually results in death or ram.
Those are my key pointers for Head-Ons. They should be avoided, but are a valid play in the book in my opinion. Most just approach them clumsily.
guys, I know you can kill dudes by doing head ons. you are still intentionally putting yourself in the position of being in front of someone's guns. I don't understand why you all reacted like I was being a dick, I was just saying that they are dumb things to do even if you know how to do them because there are better and safer ways of killing planes that don't put you in front of their guns. Sure it's cool that he got a kill doing it and came out unscathed, but the chances of that happening all of the time are slim, especially with such a large plane.

Because chasing after a B17 that is directly in front of you while you're flying a Me410 has a direct advantage over a Head-On situation rather than chasing to tail it. Sometimes strafing maneuvers or BnZ maneuvers are not possible. Never deem a maneuver dumb, they all have a role. I've seen and been in scenarios where running from a Head-On means certain death because the enemy can out turn and flank you before you can even get 90 degrees.

I was talking about fighters. That is like the ideal way of killing a b-17, since it has the least amount of guns pointed at you, where fighters have the most amount of guns pointed at you.
Although if you strafe a b-17 from the front-sideish part then they can't hit you at all I think.

The roll rate is holy shit god awful but it turns crazy tight (turns just about with Hurricanes and A6M2s) and it's not slow. The G is overtiered in arcade but the A and C are a nice low rank. The G is downright lethal in RB though

though I think something's up with the T-35 currently, I'm noticing a LOT of non registering hits from the 45s and the 76 shells are also strange from time to time, like last round I hit the front of a BT-7 at point blank range with the 76, the shell contacted the front sloped bit at a downward angle and fucking vanished according to the damage cam.
So if I get a mig-15 will I be regretting it?

I haven't had any real issues with my Japanese sabre even though it's stock. My kd ratio is like 1.8 and all of my kills have been mig15s or cl13s. For some reason I'm having a super hard time killing la15s and me262s though. :v:
