I slammed into the wall of a house on Poland with my brand new Stuart M3A1 and broke my engine
I got three kills while disabled, until my turret couldn't move anymore and 3 M2Ms filled me with ~20 shells before hitting anything vital
What's the time frame on the next tier of US? I know someone posted it up at some point, but I can't seem to find it.
I shot an HE round into the commander view port on a stuart today and it killed the whole crew, which surprised me because I thought I was using AP.

You don't want to go to next tier, believe me. The first match I had in my M4 about half of the people in the match were using M4s w/105s, and when facing other M4s the stock 75mm M3 ammo can't go through the front at any range.

Reminds me of when tanks first went live and Pz IV F2's were one shotting everyone.
Apparently when i play with the American tank tree, my graphic driver crashes. Too much freedom?
I don't really understand point of the Chaffee, when in the WT fit, it's identically armed and very similarly mobile to a Sherman at the same rank, but obviously significantly less armored (which is doubly so tangible with the 105mm spam).
The only actual advantage it seems to have is a smaller profile.
Are combined battles not a thing anymore? or am i just not finding it on the UI?
Are combined battles not a thing anymore? or am i just not finding it on the UI?
All tank battles in Arcade and RB are combined.
All tank battles in Arcade and RB are combined.
But they're just tankers who fly planes, it's not people who queue for plane combat who are playing above a ground combat game
But they're just tankers who fly planes, it's not people who queue for plane combat who are playing above a ground combat game
That wasn't ever a thing, was it?
That wasn't ever a thing, was it?
I don't think so but that's what combined battles is supposed to be
I am grinding the M6 in the 105 and I am already getting sick of the grind. Good match, 6 player kills, not a single death, 2500 RP, with prem, and 105 having efficient progress to the M6. The M6 is 61000 rp, so it will take me 20-30 good RB matches to unlock the bloody thing.
And that's only an era 2 vehicle. The only saving grace is that the american tanks are really fucking fun, even when 90% of what I face are other American tanks.
That wasn't ever a thing, was it?
Oh wait, i think it's just me being an autist. Previously you just went into tank queue with a plane selected, i assume it's the same still.
Is there still no way to switch the default shell type? That's twice now I've been killed because it defaults to HE.
[editline]18th December 2014[/editline]
Actually, is there any reason to ever fire HE? Is it good for anything?
[editline]18th December 2014[/editline]
Make that three times now. I'm going to just get rid of the damn things.
HE usually has ~ 10mm penetration, if you fire it at the ground right beneath enemy tanks with thin bottom the fragments will all go upwards and wreck shit, I've only confirmed this with the M3 against PzII, wich seems to be the only tank with sufficiently thin bottom armor.

An SU-122 with HE can easily one shot a King Tiger.

It's also got a shitty reload time. M4 has 5.9s reload time, while the Chaffee reloads in 8.5s.

It has better passing ability and that's pretty much it yeah.
Unfortunately it really was that slow and thinly armored. Its another one of those vehicles that gets fucked by the fact that its IRL role (recon/light infantry support, which it was good at) is non-existent in game, so it's just kinda terrible.
[editline]19th December 2014[/editline]
You could lower the BR I guess, but it would feel kinda goofy having a 1944 tank fighting interwar tanks
I wish the crew levels would tell how they are affected when leveled or what they concretely give
Like when I level up the reload speed of the loader, is he 0.5% faster, 1%? 10%?
When I level the tank driving skill for the driver, does he make the tank faster? Does he drift better? It's just not clear at all what each stat gives or does
Surprised the M42 Duster isn't on the tree for AA vehicles.
I don't think so but that's what combined battles is supposed to be
(I don't know about SB/AB, but this is how it was for RB)
Before, you could queue up for tank combat even with only a plane selected. Go into a match starting in your plane, using only your plane, and quitting when you got shot down. Now with the point "The sky is for heroes" system thing, you need to spawn as a tank and earn points before you can spawn in your aircraft since they have a higher point cost.
Surprised the M42 Duster isn't on the tree for AA vehicles.
It was supposed to be, wasnt it? I also thought that was weird.
Man these ground forces maps aren't balanced at all. One point, they start half as far from it, got to traverse through the entire city just to reach it while they don't. Fair.

supposedly they did it deliberately to basically have one side be the defenders and the other side the attackers
which is bullshit because the defenders have no disadvantage and win in like 3 minutes if the attackers dont do anything

Wasn't there some at least semi-historical upgrade of it they could put in to make it viable? A stronger engine? A better gun?
I mean, something the tank actually was at least tested with, even if it didn't make it into frontline use.
[editline]19th December 2014[/editline]
How about
Light Tank T24E1 – prototype with Continental R-975-C4 engine and Spicer torque converter transmission. One vehicle was converted from the original T24 prototype and tested in October 1944. The vehicle had superior performance compared to the M24, but suffered from transmission reliability problems.
That sounds fair enough to me.
[editline]19th December 2014[/editline]
That thing had nearly twice the engine power. Sounds like what we need.

while I agree that would be a good solution to making it viable, gaijin has demonstrated that they really dont give a shit about viability, and are perfectly willing to include worthless vehicles for historical reasons. See: Po-2, OSU-2, etc
[editline]19th December 2014[/editline]
and Im totally cool with them including said worthless vehicles, but it does kind of suck when you are forced to research them to advance
Like the M22 Locust? I felt the M5 Stuart was way better then the M22 Locust.

I really dont know why they decided to go with a light tank line to start with instead of a TD line
Light tanks seem like something that should be an afterthought compared to iconic shit like the Wolverine and Hellcat.

Certainly looking forward to the M36 GMC, hope they actually have the Ford GAA V-8 gasoline rather then what World of Tanks has instead which isn't the awesome Ford engine.
They need to give the light tanks 3 higher caliber artillery calls (currently artillery for all nations is Soviet 122mm M30) on separate cooldowns and double the capping speed, so when one zips around everyone will be like "ARRGH KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT".
The chaffee might be fun if you could coordinate 240mm barrages from cover.
