The 85mm has been fielded on tanks specifically with countering Tigers I in mind. The fact it can't really penetrate them frontally whatsoever means something is off.

According to Jentz and Doyle, "The T-34-85's 85 mm gun could penetrate the front of a Tiger between 200 and 500 m (0.12 and 0.31 mi) at 30 degrees" (yes, wiki paste, but it's meant to be sourced by these guys).

A jumbo flanked two tigers? That sounds like bad positioning from you two.
Best joke is that the first Jumbo can't really penetrate Tigers even from the sides unless within like 200 meters.
But I am about to get the 76mm Jumbo, and then everything should be good.

In the BR 5.0 Jumbo I [I]constantly[/I] got nothing but 5.7 matches against Tigers and Panthers. Now I got the 5.7 jumbo and immediately got into a 6.7 match against King Tigers.
I am not sure what I expected but it's still funny.

Thank god the Panzer IIIs are better at killing shit/not dying compared to the IV. Fuck that tank ;-;
so i joined back up to play tanks for the first time.
what the fuck is the purpose of the T-28? it feels like im driving a massive cardboard box of explosives. literally anything can penetrate that piece of shit can cause it to explode.
other than that the rest of the tanks are fun as hell to play with and against.

Once you get the early IVs upgraded they arent [I]too[/I] hellishly bad, actually. The first one can oneshot reserves pretty well.
getting your side armor shredded by fiddycals is pretty awful tho

it has a very very nice gun for a non-TD of its BR (the best non-TD gun at that BR, IMO) and is really mobile for its size. Thanks to the two MG gunners it's also pretty hard to kill with small cannons since it has a huge crew.
armor is absolute garbage and like most soviet tanks it has an ammo rack that's been doused in gasoline.

yeah I couldnt even bring myself to get 40 kills with the L/43 and L/48 PzIVs it was just too unfun

It has a pretty good gun for it's rank. It's only "armor" are the MG turrets on the front which tend to soak up damage. Never show your sides to the enemy, always face them directly, and try to kill them before they kill you.

Oh, and, another tip
if you are confident you can penetrate (shooting up close at things like PzII, first PzIII and first PzIV), keep using the Sh-354T FRAG shell instead of the APHE shell. Use the APHE shell at higher ranges.
The FRAG shell has absolutely devastating after-armor effect and if you penetrate, you RARELY ever need another short. The AP has excellent penetration which you will definitely need at higher ranges, but doesn't hit as hard.
Progress with tanks wont get wiped right? I just discovered the tank mode in war thunder and am about to re-install :smile:

Yes, it's live and proper. Just the USA tank pool is limited at the time unless you pay to get in pretty much.

The other day one wrecked my barrel of my T-34, I just casually backed into the capture circle and started repairing, didn't even hurt me for that like 40 second repair. Then I put him out of his misery with a viewport shot.
