Yeah, what idiots heh.
(I guess I should be using HE in the SU-122 oh god why am I so dumb)

They recently unfucked HEAT a bit, but yeah, it is dumb.
Why shoot something that can give you a "Hit!" marker or not even pen, when you can shoot once to break everything they know and love (aka especially the gun); and if that doesn't kill them, now you're safe for however many more shots it takes (usually 0, because you already killed them.)
I tried 122 HEAT for a bit before realizing it was simply inferior to 122 HE.
I can't talk for lesser guns (less than the 122mm); but this isn't World of Tanks. HE removes people something fierce in the SU-122/KV-2.

Except for lower cash gain on 1940 and HIGHER on the 1940 RP grind since it has efficient progress up to Era 3!
And yes, they share the same matchmaking.
The problem with the Tiger is that they don't know where to put it. To put it on equal BR with a Panther is just silly because the Panther is objectively a better tank. The Tiger is a pretty crap tank when it's up against the things designed specifically to kill it.
I really wouldn't mind if the Tiger was lowered in BR a little so that it saw 1942 T-34s sometimes and I'm saying that as someone who drives T-34s almost exclusively. The Tiger is a tricky thing to place because the armor and gun means there is a very fine line between it being ridiculously OP and being worthless.

This is an issue which is practically impossible to solve without dynamic/intelligent matchmaking.
A team of nothing but Tigers will steamroll team of sub-85mm T-34s over and over without any chance on the T-34 side.
Perhaps it should try to match just one or two tigers into low tier matches, but without selection like that, it's not feasible to downrank it really.

Uh no.
Wrong.
T34s with 57s and 76s will beat tigers. Ive done this before. Teamwork is what matters the most for Ruskies.

This is exactly why it's not done. A squad might be able to take on a Tiger using combined tactics, but the chances of seeing that in a pub are pretty rare.
Thankfully, War Thunder does punish heavy tanks for sitting out and trying to absorb hits, which I really quite like. So many useful things can get broken without penetration that the best tactic is still not to get hit.
You really missed an opportunity to use this song:

I liked the video, Timezbrick - but a word of advice. Some (can't say I speak for all) aren't interested in watching full lengths of video of gameplay. If you condense it down to cuts of about a total of 15-30 seconds -the good stuff- people might be more likely to sit through the whole thing. That doesn't mean you have to put music over it or plaster stupid reaction images over it like a few of us do, but generally people's attention spans are low. :v:

I've used both and I couldn't pick which one was more unreliable but I guess I could try switching to HE and just aiming at guns.

Just use HE and shoot them right in the face.
By face I mean turret.
By turret I mean you'll usually wreck them via the thin top armor, but if not - a broken gun is a solid 2 minute+ repair time for them that they can't fight back in.

Well fucking sure that multiple T-34s can team up and bully a tiger, but what if you have 10 T-34s vs 10 Tigers? How the fuck do you expect to win when THEY actually move?
And, god forbid, what if THEY use ABOUT THE SAME level of tactics???
[editline]29th May 2014[/editline]
This is what always pisses me off when Wehraboos argue "Well you just need to outsmart them/flank"
What if the enemy isn't... COMPLETELY RETARDED AND DOES THE SAME?

It's been brought up many times before but building teams based on tank worth would go a long way. That way it would never be a team full of Tigers vs T-34s, it would be a sensible mix between Tigers and Panzer IVs. Gaijin never seemed interested in the idea though, and when they create things like the spawn point system and then throw them away never to be heard from again it's really hard to gauge what they plan on doing. If anything.

Aha, I liked that one a lot better! I didn't mean you had to literally up and use the music, but it was relaxing.
Sorry if I sounded condescending it any of it - but people like Goon do some fuckin' excellent videos and I notice the rule of thumb is to keep the attention on - via music, graphics, or gameplay. No one wants to watch idle bits.
I noticed this, literally, when I made the mistake of uploading a catastrophic failure of landing a B-24D on a carrier, which had a 2 minute lead in time to the event. Almost no one bothered to watch it or send it out. A fifteen second clip of a S.79 killing someone with bombs while generic Italian music plays and an angry guy yells in Italian, ending on a fade-out to a picture of pasta did way better.
