fuck you wt
make me have an awesome battle I could make a nice video out of, then continuously freeze up the replay before it gets to the good part. and next patch they do, I wont even be able to replay it at all.

I had a replay where I rammed into a T-34 in my T-50 and exploded instantly, which somehow caught him on fire and then he exploded. I was like a little wire guided missile.

Yes Tovarish. It begins.
Our ass cannon fire will outshine the sun. your fuel tanks will help us see to it.
Strike Fighters.
My F-4 is still burnt from repeatedly assuming it was a simple, defenseless bomber.

I thought they said it would be too OP to have in the game? Based on the loading screen screenshots the model has been in game for a while.
Based on the loading screen screenshots the model has been in game for a while.
Except it's not. Nor is it in dev. (Trust me, I root through that shit frequently.)
A long time ago, they said the IL-28 might be OP; but then again, they use to say the Ar 234 should be Tier 23 back when we were on a 0-20 scale. They're not really good at bomber tiering. Coughcoughlancastercough.
They SAID: for the billionth time.
The IL-28 is not balanced currently, Same deal with the B-29.
This probably means that other things have to come in first so they CAN be balanced in comparison. be they competitor planes or gameplay mechanics
A B-29 is fucking overkill for anything, it may as well carry a tallboy for how destructive it could be on anything on the ground. and the IL-28 is The Jet Powered Tu-2, need I say more?
Waiting game, and remember we still have that thing about the T-10M getting in which means the timeline could be shifted up to 1958 which if it happens THE CONSEQUENCES. WILL NEVER BE. THE SAME.
...so what are we supposed to do when we run out of ammo in realistic ground-air battles?
The game will end by the time you fly back to base, land, and fly all the way back.
[editline]1st June 2014[/editline]
It arbitrarily makes planes like the Bf109 E-3 completely worthless...as though it weren't fucking hard enough to hit things with those 20mms. There's half a football field of distance between those fucking guns.

I've had no troubles making it back to base to rearm and getting back into the action in Realistic battles using the He 112 with the novelty 20mm.
You know? You know what? Fuck it, I said this air-ground integration thing was poorly thought out? The entire realistic air (don't even get me started on fucking "simulator") of the game is poorly fucking thought out. Planes are given small armaments due to engineering constraints, but travel in large groups to compensate for this. Individuals planes can't do that much on their own before having to return to base, but again, that's okay because there's a lot of planes so you have a lot of people doing a little bit and you get a lot of work done. The same is true for War Thunder, you have 5 planes that carry bombs and you then have 5 sets of bombs, which is a hefty amount if you're just attacking a tank company.
But here's the catch. You as an individual are only rewarded for what you do. You aren't doing that much because you only have enough ammo for a couple kills optimistically. I mean look at the Bf109 or Ju87. The Bf109 has like 4 seconds of gun time. The Ju87 has 2 ground kills tops outside of what it can do with its cannons (nothing, it flies under the threshold that AAA is capable of instakilling at). This would also be okay...and it may be okay in the eyes of Gaijin, but what does the optimal level of performance get you reward-wise? Jack diddly dick. You get just 2 ground kills or just 2 air kills and you're middle-bottom of the scoreboard. It's more efficient to do your job and die shooting at AAA or crash into a mountain and respawn as a tank thank it is to actually be a plane. That's just fucking piss poor game design.
[editline]1st June 2014[/editline]
It's fully possible I don't understand air gunnery, but my favorite and most complex, sophisticated, difficult to pull off tactic to dodge enemy fire of "FLICK MOUSE UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT UP LEFT DOWN RIGHT LEFT UP DOWN until they get fucking bored of missing your spastic ass" seems to have become popular in the past 6 months, which makes air gunnery kind of not a thing.

You are compensated by not having to fly for hours before reaching the combat area, and not having to fly hours back to base just to still be a person who is living. You fly to the combat area in a minute or two, and if you don't die, you fly back to base in a minute or two, re-arm in less than a minute, and are back in the combat area in a few minutes.
the only reason to complain is if a "good round" is less than 50% of the time, and that can usually be attributed to user error.
if you are equal skill level of your opponent, and your win ratio, or "Good round" ratio is less than 50%, then you have a reason to complain, but then it is most likely your ego talking, at least in my opinion, I seem to do quite fucking well on either side of the battle.
Team play will never be rewarding in War Thunder. They're so damn worried of giving away too much, it's becoming detrimental to the player mentality.

Compensated? No that's...what? No that's not what I'm getting at at all. I'm criticizing the metagame's rate of progress.
F2P though, so naturally the devs are incentivized to make the grind take longer.

Me and another guy pretty much won the Kursk match and managed to kill most of the German team. Sat behind a dead AI and ambushed a few Panthers that were zipping around looking for me, rest of them were too afraid to try and take the cap.

This bit is just so ironic because I've spent maybe $15 on this game, haven't spent a cent in the past year, and am considering quitting because everything not directly relating to the actual act of combat is totally fucked. Specifically everything to do with rewards, teamwork, community, matchmaking, progress, etc.
I mean look the game is basically dead. They need better management.
back to wot, scrub, etc
WT's ground combat has shown me how fucking dumb WoT is.
[editline]1st June 2014[/editline]
I mean I've played sims and I've always been interested in military history, so I've always known it and w/e w/e, but the contrast between WT and WoT really emphasized for me how boring and one sided WoT is, how much is up to the RNG (not just aiming, also MM), etc.
If you want honest advice, remember the WoT mantra, it applies as well. If you are doing shit and billion things piss you off about the game at the moment, just call it quits for the day.
It's a mix of psychology and well known F2P MMO gamer voodoo that say that once you get worked up, you just won't have fun anymore and all issues will seem tenfold bigger. Just give it a rest, play something else for the day, try it later. Once the game pisses you off, it's very hard to enjoy it any further and you will be only digging a strong and stronger negative bias.
I get pissed at WT all the time as well. The key is to know when to quit.

Learning how to do this is harder than anything else in the game, because some days you have one bad round followed by a dozen good ones, and then other days you have 13 terrible games in a row.
I am having a really hard time getting angry at WT, it's like a cakewalk for me after the disaster that WoT was. The only time I was getting really pissed off was when I was facing T-50 al lthe time. And being forced to play Jungle 10 times in a row, which is easily the worst map in the game, even worse than Karelia.
The bottom half of Jungle is fun, I consistently have good fights there, to the point where I actually just take that way to get to A on single-point matches.
Karelia is garbage everywhere that isn't the middle. Too bad you can't get there because the approach is a hill that you have to climb up while being shot by half the enemy team. So incredibly easy to spawncamp as well.
UGH, I really wish some people in the game got some actual balls and played for fun instead of insisting on having the advantage or abstaining from action.
I got into faceoff against a King Tiger with proper turret in my stock as fuck IS-2 mod 44, if anything, fight in his advantage. We were both behind our own bits of cover with a flat ground between us. I started poking out, wiggled in and out of his sight, trying to bait a sloppy shot to get to shoot at him. he finally shot, dinging, doing nothing, but immediately scuttled into cover.
I prepared myself, expecting he will follow with same move, and... nothing. Thirty seconds, minute... Even as the battle around was unfolding, he refused to leave the cover and give me the same opportunity I gave in.
I mean, sure, I am not owed anything, but only if you are an unfun unfair piece of minmaxing turd who refuses to not to fight with an advantage.
I got later killed by a JagdPanther, jumped into an IL-10, and then bombed his dumb ass, followed by shredding his dumb FW 190 to bits when he tried to fight me afterwards.
There's two kinds of people who ruin the game: People who have no idea what they are doing, and people who think that no risk is worth taking.
Not me but a friend, talk about luck.

A) The BF-109 is plentifully armed, you don't have to chase someone into the ground until they explode with the trigged taped down. Doubly so in ground forces because everyone flies so low. Hit someone with a crit (like 5 cannon shells tops with the MG151?) and fly away. If you do it right you've doomed them to a collision with a tree or at very least they are no longer a threat to you or your tanks. They don't have to explode.
B) Ignore the scoreboard, it doesn't mean you contributed the most. I can ding the tracks of something until I run out of ammo, top the scoreboard, and have achieved NOTHING AT ALL.
C)The Ju-87 was a shit plane IRL anyway, use the Ju-88.

You don't understand air gunnery. Don't tail someone like that forever, this isn't arcade. Pull off (you're going fast, right? If not get out of the goddamn BF109), fly up, and dive back down on them. If you're brown nosing someone you are both vulnerable to people pulling sudden dodges, and also probably super fucking vulnerable to being dived on and having your day fucked up. Even if you do tail them for a year and shoot them down, what have you achieved? You're low, you're slow, you're going to get your shit bounced by a Yak who was waiting for you to put yourself in a vulnerable spot.

barely a few minutes after watching that i loaded up the game and tried shooting at an IL-2M with the mentality "eh it'll never hit, but what's the harm in trying?".

i guess i was wrong.

oh, and then this happened

pushed out of cover while repairing by a friendly bot, then bashed about while crippled by an enemy bot. bots are so mean!
I am at this point convinced the default jap cannon belts are actually just flat out worse than their 7.7mm's
I just got my A6M3 Ko, and I swear it takes the entire belt to even put a dent in most planes unless they come straight on and eat a round to the cockpit. No wonder those tracer belts full of HEF-T seem so amazing by comparison
Ok, what the fuck is even going on. 75mm HEAT shell from my StuG at point blank range into the front of a T-50's turret (40mm of armor vs 75mm armor penetrating explosive shell that can apparently defeat up to 81 mm of armor) and I get "target undamaged". His 45mm shell magically detonates my tank instantly after I back off about 10 meters. Next respawn, have the sides of 3 (yes, 3) T-50s from about 150 m, and every shot I put into them results in "target undamaged" until they turn to me and end me with no more than 3 rounds. How. Just fucking how.
This is a consistent thing when I play Germans as of late. The second I switch to Soviets, everything turns around and I'm constantly winning matches at the top of the scoreboard. AAA are no threat to my Russian planes even if I get hit a few times as I can continue flying normally with 2 black wings and half my tail missing (though usually I don't get hit and can effortlessly wipe out all german AA in only a few passes), but the second I hop into the cockpit of my He 112, I get instagibbed from 4 km out by the laser-guided harbinger of death that is Allied anti-air guns. I haven't won a single tank/mixed battle as Germans in days, despite playing different tanks and trying different tactics. Even my 38(t) is failing me, and I don't think I've even once damaged a T-50, let alone killed one. Am I experiencing the worst RNG imaginable, or have Gaijin yet again tipped the odds in the Motherland's favor just to fuck with me?
pushed out of cover while repairing by a friendly bot, then bashed about while crippled by an enemy bot. bots are so mean!
I once got my KV-2 pinned into a friendly/enemy body pincer as they both tried to push in.
I was pretty sure that was the closet I've ever gotten to seeing a singularity, as two infinite mass objects were about to collide with me in the middle.
"target undamaged"
I get "Target Undamaged!" and "Hit!" [sp](<-- Fuck that one so much.)[/sp] a lot on both teams. I've had them happen at the worst fucking times too, like throwing a 85mm APHEBC round into a Jagdpanzer IV's driver slit, and then dying to it because that 85mm hit, penetrated, and apparently didn't hurt a damn thing inside the tank. Meanwhile, I was ammo racked.
