Ok, what the fuck is even going on. 75mm HEAT shell from my StuG at point blank range into the front of a T-50's turret (40mm of armor vs 75mm armor penetrating explosive shell that can apparently defeat up to 81 mm of armor) and I get "target undamaged". His 45mm shell magically detonates my tank instantly after I back off about 10 meters. Next respawn, have the sides of 3 (yes, 3) T-50s from about 150 m, and every shot I put into them results in "target undamaged" until they turn to me and end me with no more than 3 rounds. How. Just fucking how. This is a consistent thing when I play Germans as of late. The second I switch to Soviets, everything turns around and I'm constantly winning matches at the top of the scoreboard. AAA are no threat to my Russian planes even if I get hit a few times as I can continue flying normally with 2 black wings and half my tail missing (though usually I don't get hit and can effortlessly wipe out all german AA in only a few passes), but the second I hop into the cockpit of my He 112, I get instagibbed from 4 km out by the laser-guided harbinger of death that is Allied anti-air guns. I haven't won a single tank/mixed battle as Germans in days, despite playing different tanks and trying different tactics. Even my 38(t) is failing me, and I don't think I've even once damaged a T-50, let alone killed one. Am I experiencing the worst RNG imaginable, or have Gaijin yet again tipped the odds in the Motherland's favor just to fuck with me?
75mm HEAT shells a) Aren't influenced by range. You are as likely to penetrate at point blank as at 2km. b) Are fucking trash. HEAT shells saw only very limited use through the war, mainly because they sucked badly. Germans used them mainly as necessary evil since they realized the pooty stubby 75mms are completely awful against tanks. c) They don't normalize at all, and they have an angle at which they don't set off at all, so generally, angled armor will fuck you up a lot. d) Random garbage sticking out of the tank that normally has no protective capabilities can set the shell off prematurely and again severely gimp the penetration capability. Tracks are basically Anti-HEAT armor in general. e) Spaced armor, including mantlets, is extra effective against HEAT shells. So yeah, it might have nominal penetration of 81mm but that's in ideal condtions that are very rare and almost every situation you will be in, the reality will be far more glum. [editline]2nd June 2014[/editline] The short 75mm was, by Germans themselves, considered unfit of antitank combat. There's no way changing that without buffing it unrealistically. [editline]2nd June 2014[/editline] Regarding the planes, that's just confirmation bias. I got oneshotted by AAA so many times flying Tu-2 or IL-10 today that it's not even funny. [editline]2nd June 2014[/editline]
throwing a 85mm APHEBC round into a Jagdpanzer IV's driver slit, and then dying to it because that 85mm hit, penetrated, and apparently didn't hurt a damn thing inside the tank. Meanwhile, I was ammo racked.
It's possible that the driver slit armor was so thin that the she's fuse didn't go off after going through it and it continued onward, leaving the tank through the rear. They relatively recently made all the APHE fuses more sensitive and it shouldn't happen as much anymore.

Considering I've shot the lower front plate of a Tiger before and somehow only damaged his cannon, I know the damage models and synchronization are a bit wonky.

Alright Domination isn't a big pain in the ass to me any more since I turned the instructor off for when you're near the ground, now I can slide across the airstrip and @ 200km/h and capture it
Whoever said uncooperative potatoes in Arcade needs to amend that for all modes. The match I'm in has four squads on the enemy team, and zero on ours. What did they do? Drive up to our spawn and camp because of a combination of shitty Arcade maps and zero spawn protection which is a terrible idea. The last match looked like this: [t]http://s21.postimg.org/ncf9m35qf/2014_06_02_00001.jpg[/t] Fuck it, I'm going back to Arcade. At least everyone has to play tanks there. [editline]2nd June 2014[/editline] Tried RB one more time. "Hit!!!!!!!!!!!" on a Jagdpanzer IV L/70 5 seperate fucking times, with 85mm APHE, to various places. Meanwhile this drooling cunt is slowly turning around in place. Nicks me once. 6 minute barrel repair. He has enough time to drive past the entire team, 1.2km roughly given he took a wide arc around our initial 0.7km engagement, and shoots me from behind with APCR until the entire crew died. Sorry, nope, done, gg. Call me when the next big update is, I quit until then. Game's not worth it in the current state.
So I was playing in Arcade (yeah I know, sue me.) An enemy T-34-57 starts poking out from a rock. He shoots first and cripples my turret and gunner. In a last ditch effort I call down artillery on him and he responds by killing the rest of my crew. Then as I respawn I see this pop up. Then this in the kill announcements. In addition I got told that I had killed a friendly aircraft and lost around 1850 silver lions. So I pop into my replays to check it out and lo and behold. [IMG_THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/HwRfqMI.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] A friendly AI IL-2 had flown above me and had somehow been clipped by artillery. Fucking what.
There are posts like this
If you want honest advice, remember the WoT mantra, it applies as well. If you are doing shit and billion things piss you off about the game at the moment, just call it quits for the day. It's a mix of psychology and well known F2P MMO gamer voodoo that say that once you get worked up, you just won't have fun anymore and all issues will seem tenfold bigger. Just give it a rest, play something else for the day, try it later. Once the game pisses you off, it's very hard to enjoy it any further and you will be only digging a strong and stronger negative bias. I get pissed at WT all the time as well. The key is to know when to quit.
And there are posts like this
A) The BF-109 is plentifully armed, you don't have to chase someone into the ground until they explode with the trigged taped down. Doubly so in ground forces because everyone flies so low. Hit someone with a crit (like 5 cannon shells tops with the MG151?) and fly away. If you do it right you've doomed them to a collision with a tree or at very least they are no longer a threat to you or your tanks. They don't have to explode. B) Ignore the scoreboard, it doesn't mean you contributed the most. I can ding the tracks of something until I run out of ammo, top the scoreboard, and have achieved NOTHING AT ALL. C)The Ju-87 was a shit plane IRL anyway, use the Ju-88. You don't understand air gunnery. Don't tail someone like that forever, this isn't arcade. Pull off (you're going fast, right? If not get out of the goddamn BF109), fly up, and dive back down on them. If you're brown nosing someone you are both vulnerable to people pulling sudden dodges, and also probably super fucking vulnerable to being dived on and having your day fucked up. Even if you do tail them for a year and shoot them down, what have you achieved? You're low, you're slow, you're going to get your shit bounced by a Yak who was waiting for you to put yourself in a vulnerable spot.
and then, NoDachi, there is the endless stream of your posts like this:
not to mention it'll save us having to read his god damn posts all the time jesus christ what a drag
I don't normally pay attention to ratings, but I never forget to notice yours. I don't care about this in particular; it's consistent. You rate, you say something hostile or nothing at all, and you then sneak back into the shadows, ostensibly to pat yourself on the back for how superior your are all without actually ever contributing yourself. At least a lot of people on here, or in the WoT thread, or elsewhere would tell me that I'm straight up shit, and then point out why, and I like that. I may even get to look like an angry baboon but at least I'm an angry baboon with proper feedback.
I'm an angry baboon with proper feedback.
If I had free money, that would be your title right now. There may be a major update soon-ish, too. What with the release of War Thunder on the PS4 in North/South America (June 3rd) and Operation Overlord/D-Day Anniversary (June 6th.) So maybe I didn't quit for as long as I thought.

Why do I have to tie your shoelaces at the same time
Ki-10 is literally a helicopter.

I think I was just in a game with komradcommisar
I think I was just in a game with komradcommisar
I was probably bitching about shit teams under the name Kommradable.
Also I just played with a youtuber named PhlyDaily or something
Is it just me or is AAA way more effective in mixed battles than regular air battles, it's a god damn death zone past a certain distance, I now focus on shooting them out first of all if I want to survive dive bombing tanks. I guess it's a mix of there being tons of AAA emplacements piled around a small area and planes having to fly closer to them. It's a good opportunity for tanks to help planes by shooting the AAA.
Ki-10 is literally a helicopter.
is that RB?
First round in my tiger, get 1 hit frontally by a T-34 that I hit twice with the 88 and got "target undamaged" :|
Just got 5 target undamaged in a row firing my panzer 3 M's APCR rounds at the rear plate of a T-34 that was on an angle meaning the plate was flat towards me, the guy eventually turns his turret around and pens me through the plate on the front of my turret which "crew knocked out" kills me. Gaijin fix your game
is that RB?
It clearly says so in the video ._. First half is RB and not fully upgraded (lacks engine injection) Second half is Arcade, fully upgraded. Fun fact: On RB when fully upgraded, you can keep steady 90 degree climb at 20-22 km/h.
There. Now that I have IS-4M, T-54 and flak truck, I'll be back when this game is more fun. Cya.
That's some excessive turbosperging there m8
ey, i have a question about crew skills & qualifications does the bonus skill from qualification still apply if you've already trained your crew to the max in a certain skill? example: say i have 35/50 field repair already on my crew, then give them basic qualification (+30) for the tank they're currently in, would they operate as if they were at 65/50 in that skill? every sliver of logic in my being tells me it should be "yes", but i just want to make sure before sinking these XP points further into skills

And yes, Ace crew (the one you pay for with geagles after expert crew) is literally by definition pay to win as you get (minor) advantage that's impossible to achieve without spending real money.

Ace qualification costs so much you better fucking like the plane you're buying it for.
I am so going to ace Pz III ausf M. I just love the tank. Having problems against KVs though ;_;
Ace qualification costs so much you better fucking like the plane you're buying it for.
I've only ever done it for bombers I really, really liked to turbosperg their gunners. So pretty much just the TB-3, H6K4, and G8N1. Shame the TB-3 gets wonky MM, the H6K4 has been on a rollercoaster of balance, and the G8N1 just went to shit after people complained about it. [editline]3rd June 2014[/editline]
I am so going to ace Pz III ausf M. I just love the tank. Having problems against KVs though ;_;
Even with AP, you can pen them pretty easy. Use APCR if it's the front and they're moving a lot. Use AP and shoot flat bits of the hull or flat parts of the turret next to the cheek. Always try to disable the gunner first. If it says 1 on 1, you can just keep critting the gunner until the tank dies or someone helps. If they're not facing you at an angle both in hull and turret, the III's with the long 50 should be able to slaughter KVs. Especially if you flank.
It's not like you're going to be reloading so much faster that it's clearly pay-to-win, I think a biggest reason to get Ace would be that it lowers the bullshit repair times even further
so it turns out the little info-cards factor in crew skills (i asked a friend to check the KV-2 info-card on his client, he hasn't even researched it yet). 42 (12+30) reloading skill brought my KV-2 reload down from 43.3 to 38.7 - pretty sweet :v:
I am so going to ace Pz III ausf M. I just love the tank. Having problems against KVs though ;_;
just break their turret ring
