That, and just about every other Russian ground attack plane I find fun. They're pretty much the only crew I use.
Why do the devs have a hardon for loading time debuffs?

Also "first"

WoWP has players? I thought Wargaming were letting it die after they fired half the dev team.

There's like 3-6k on primetime on EU, compared to the ~200k on WoT.
Why am I consistently seeing '42 spec Yak-9s in my '37 spec 109 E? Moreover why does the Yak-9 (fielded first in 1942) have the same battle rating as the 109 F-4 (fielded in 1940)?
I think I figured it out. Russian players primarily play Russia as a nation in War Thunder. We know this. Russian players are generally bad at games. We know this. Russian players playing Russia badly show up to Gaijin as Russian planes performing poorly, even though they've got favorable BRs and flight characteristics. Gaijin respond by lowering the BR of these planes. This makes them feel like they're easier to play, prompting many to encourage new players to start in Russia. This floods Russia with new (read: bad) players that further lower the relative in-game battle performance, prompting even more buffs/ BR dropping. Gaijin probably think Russian planes are nearly perfectly balanced just because they see the global average battle performance of the low-mid tier Russian planes.
My '39 Ju 88 shouldn't be seeing Yak 9s ever, but it still happens. Yak 9s shouldn't be viable dog-fighters (they shouldn't be able to fire as fast as they do either), but it still happens.
The Bf-109 F4 is the 1942 spec with 1.42 ATA engine settings and is equippable with gunpods. The plane probably did encounter Yak-9s.
And the E3 has a much lower battle rating than the Yak-9. 2.3 vs 4.0, just out of the range of meeting eachother in realistic.
Still not any worse than the 1944 Ultra-Hellcat (Light as a -3, engine and weapon loads of a -5) facing the 1936 Hurricane.

Read: reasons BR needs to be affected by Era.

In both mixed and pure air Realistic, both my 109 E3 and Ju 88 have seen Yak 9Ts. It isn't a rare occurrence, either. It's to the point that I don't bother bringing planes into tank battles and I quit to hangar when I get a German-Russian air battle.
Am I exaggerating the problem for effect? Probably, but is there even a problem to begin with? I'm sure of it more than anything else in the game.
The timeframes are all off, don't start trying to dig on them or you'll hurt your head.
As in there's a 1942 Bf-109 at late Era III and there's a 1942 LaGG-3 at Era I.
They do it for balance reasons, mostly. And because fuck Japan. I assume they do a lot of stuff because fuck Japan.
Japan is full of diehard tryhards that Firthy Gaijin cannot hope to kill.
Pulling off a sick kill streak in this plane against better opponents will make you feel like a real sky samurai.
This is the most accurate description anyone can give for Japan. I liked the Ki-61 and I'm LOVING the A6M2, agghhh it's so good and this is exactly how it feels. You can disassemble entire formations if you dodge fire at the right times and the maneuverability will let you get onto everyone's tail, because I'm learning it only takes that tiny exposure period with 20mms to get an effective kill.

Given what I've played, having gotten to tier 3 in a day, I'd honestly recommend new players start with Japan at this point. The machine guns and maneuverability give you the tools in the beginning to both learn how to shoot and learn that maneuvers actually do work, then by the time you have cannons you're used to having to needle someone to death, so you better appreciate the insane capacity for instakills they have.
Playing Japan first will make you grizzled and jaded.
Which I guess is better than being pampered by the Flying Slovak Circus or "Shove Ma Deuce Everywhere" Freedom Clappers.

I'm still confused as to why they even gave the gunners AI. With a fully trained crew, they're still useless noise makers.
The thing is, if I hop on manual control, they'll all conveniently black out at that exact moment.
It really needs a gunner ammo indicator, and a way to turn off the AI. Really sucks to have it waste all the ammo.
Whoever thought armored cars and AAA needed the same icon as enemy fighters on the minimap, last patch, needs to be tried for war crimes.
I think BR could be greatly improved by adding a plane's era to its BR. This means that playing planes of similar eras will result in even match ups, but when an old plane fights a newer plane you'll be far more likely to be in a high quality older plane versus a lower quality newer plane.
A great example would be the early Soviet jets. They should still be fighting a mix of jets and props, but should never be fighting terrible props or excellent jets.
There we are, Boston bomber is unlocked. Never going to use it probably, I just wanted to do it.
Magical. Last game I had was a 9 kill game with several AI kills, not bad for my double

The entire jet line is a mess because there are very few middle-of-the-road jets.
They either rip shit up, or are hilariously terrible. I think they need more jets, period, before it gets to be a well balanced Era.
How it feels to fire at an enemy plane while you're both in the clouds:

I don't get it. The Mk 22 and Mk 24 Spitfires are terrible. Bugged flaps, extremely inaccurate guns, bleed 90% of speed in a turn. I don't think I've ever seen anyone do good in them.
So they moved them up to 5.7BR because...?

Because any plane would move up in BR vs the teams you face on Hokkaido.
Wait wtf, why does paying for a crew to get Expert in silver not actually do anything until you buy the next qualification in gold?

It does?
Adds +30 to.. I think Keen Vision, Visibility, Repair Speed, Reload Speed, and some gunner shit.
Tanks is reload speed, repair speed, and some other shit.

The base qualification gives the +30, the silver Expert doesn't seem to do anything...
um no
you either pay silver and get 30+ or pay gold and get 50+
um no

Okay you could've been more helpful with this.
It's +20 not +30 for the base qualification prior to expert isn't it?
basic is +0
silver is +30
gold is +50
simple really when you think about it
Then it isn't clear to me why I was able to buy training in silver twice for the same slot for the same tank.
