You seem like the sort of person who would, on hearing "so quiet you could hear a pin drop", would get up and loudly proclaim "pin LAND."
germany statistics make for the only reliable source of historical data

I swear the History Channel (atleast in UK) used to be literally the Hitler Channel. Nothing but Nazis after Nazis and Nazis in colour and oh it's Hirohito back to NAZIS.
I started playing this game a few days ago and it's fun. going down the german fighters line right now

Not much different in the US. It was good for awhile, and my father and I loved watching Mail Call together when I was younger.
Then it became WORLD WAR II WORLD WAR II for a tiny bit, followed by an intense amount of HITLER HITLER HITLER NAZIS NAZI HITLER NAZI HITLER, then a tiny trickle of WORLD WAR II HD IN COLOR WITH GUEST SPEAKER.
Now it's PAWN STARS, ANCIENT ALIENS, and a bunch of other garbage unrelated to history. I mean, Devil's Advocate, I use to watch Pawn Stars for a bit regardless if it was staged or not - but I can't turn on the History Channel anymore to get any history, let alone a good dose of R Lee Ermey yelling at me and shooting the fuck outta watermelons.

i'm not trying to be mean gosh.
this is more like correcting someone who said "so quiet you could hear a drop pin" :v:

History channel is the last place I would turn to for historical reference just about, with a few exceptions.
As for German statistics, there are a few things you have to keep in mind when looking at their combat losses. Though the SS did, the regular German army did not count mobility kills as combat losses. Meanwhile, allied forces did, even if it was repaired afterwards. Similarly, if a tank was struck, penetrated, somewhat operational, but the crew bailed out, that was actually not considered a combat loss. Again for the allies it was.
So, this wind up inflating the comparisons, leading to things such as 5 shermans to kill 1 tiger.

I dunno if the German tree is avery good one to climb right off the bat. The American one is a bit more general purpose and the .50s have a comfy amount of ammo. The Japanese and British trees are also pretty user friendly.
The Japanese and British trees are also pretty user friendly.
I think you meant to say the Japanese tree will put hair on your chest and invite multiple women into your bedroom.
It's a fun tree early on, but quickly becomes a nightmare in RB and less-quickly becomes a nightmare in AB. It use to have some really good end-tier rewards, but most got blown the fuck out because people were actually doing good in them.
I really want to play tank sim but I am getting real tired of Kursk' shit
even flying planes there is a fucking chore because getting the plane to the battlefield takes third the time an average match takes
kursk is about as fun as HL2:DM on gm_flatgrass, which is what kursk is

I encourage people who want to play RB or SB to play planes like the Zero and Hurricane because they teach you to constantly look around or you'll get bounced to fuck and back.

Playing bad planes makes you a demigod at good planes, simple as that. You become less reliant on the plane carrying you, and more reliant on carrying the plane.
About the only planes I haven't been able to apply this to are the Mossie XVIII because it can't really combat other planes, and the F-82E because it overheats before you even hit 2000m (and handles like a dumptruck with engine troubles.)

Which is why you don't play US Naval planes at first, or you end up becoming the potatos that crash their F9Fs on take-off every single game.

Crashing on take-off, in not-AB, should force you to play the take-off tutorial again for that specific plane. I've had a five v. five on Korea where we had three people crash at the start. Considering I was probably going to see pre-nerf MiG-15s in my F-80C, I nope'd right the fuck around, landed, and left.

USA navy fighters are indeed basically the most easymode easybranch in the entire game

Someone needs to color-code the tech trees for new people, based on how difficult each plane is. It'd require a lot of input from you guys, though, if I was going to be the one to do it.

Entire japanese tree: RED LIKE THE RISING SUN

There are a few (few) gems in there though that can absolutely rip shit right the fuck up in the hands of a good player. The early Zeros (before they get overtiered to fuck) aren't too bad either.
I find ALL of the Zeros wonderful. Whatever it is, they mesh hilariously well with my playstyle.
They have the maneuverability to troll BnZ-extendddd planes, the climb to reach 5-6km at the same time as other planes, have a backup pair of MGs so your match isn't over once you've dumped your cannons, yoyos are smooth as hell in it, and it sacrifices durability for maneuverability which is VERY good at teaching players the reality that if you let someone in a position to shoot you that you have failed as a pilot.

pshh, parallel construction lol.

I could probably do full analysis akin to my shitty Nippon guide if anyone would care enough to read them. I have flown every British plane, every Japanese plane that isn't a copypaste job (no Nippon Sabre), every German unique plane but the He-162, Arado, and Canadair, every Russian plane but the second I-185, and most American planes (No F-Sabre, no Blunderjet, no Panthers, no Liberator, honestly haven't flown a lot of planes extensively, just phantom-grinded them with Mustang).

I already lost interest in the idea because I realized how much work it would be and it'd take constant input from other players. That and I found out how to make a giant death duck in Naval Ops Commander.
We already have a somewhat uniform consensus on most nations in this thread anyways.
I hope tank MGs get added already. I'm tired of being buzzed by people flying at 50m, especially when I'm in a tank destroyer.
Dev going up any minute. Here's some bad Google-translate patch notes.

Going to do a screen dump in a second.
I literally do not know how to perform any air combat maneuvers other than your basic BnZ. I'm amazed I've made it to era 3 in US, German and Russian planes.

Because we lacked these useless fucks.
While I compile the screenshots - crews are back, and the shadows don't bug out.
The Flakpanzer I also has a bug where you can aim the gun STRAIGHT down through the tank. :v:

Oh here they are actually translated.
All tanks have 90/90 elevation/depression right now. It's fucking hilarious.
