I'm guessing that you'll unlock ships as a "class" and the specific models will be variants/upgrade paths for the ship? So you won't unlock the Yamato, you'll unlock the Yamato-Class battleship with a verion of it closer to the Musashi (w/ MOAR GUNZ).

The 'new' IL-10 1946 (quad noodlymans) has been in the game since.. as far as I can remember. I'm 99% certain it's from Wings of Prey and they totally forgot to add it.
As in it was there, fully modeled. I'm not entirely certain if it was flyable (didn't know about my fly-any-plane trick then); but it probably was.
All that really leaves that's fully done, but not flyable currently, are the three transport craft (Ju 57, Li-2, C-47) which have low poly models and were obviously meant for AI, a shit ton of LaGG-3 planes and the I-301 prototype of it, and the V-1 Rocket/Dummy Plane obviously not meant for players like the transport craft. :v:
I'm secretly hoping they're quiet because they have the Go 229, Kugelblitz, ZUT-37, and a bunch of other shit nearing completion and they want to splash it all at once. Realistically, I highly doubt it. The only thing I've found tucked in the game files that's surprised me recently was the new ZUT-37 and the new-new F7F-1 string.

Yes no. You have to start with a aircraft you own. If you keep the CDK open and start the mission, you can change the plane and save the mission - then "restart/retry" the mission from in-match, in-game. You'll restart in the new plane. I'll make a little picture or video tutorial if you guys really want.
Make sure you turn on asset models in the CDK. If it doesn't have one or the console spits errors, the plane will probably crash the game. (IL-28, F7F, B-29, H-75s, Supermarine, etc.)
Some fun planes you can try: Ju 57, Li-2, C-47, Dummy_Plane, I-301, all the China reskins, etc. Don't forget to dick with their armament. The A-20G has these fucking massive torpedo that I swear to christ look like depth charges.

2. Install the fucking CDK.
2a. When it asks you where to install [B]YOU BEST INSTALL IT IN YOUR PROPER, WORKING, I ACTUALLY PLAY THIS WAR THUNDER FOLDER.[/B]
2b. Launch the Mission Editor
2c. It may ask you about work spaces. Mine isn't due to a prior installation. Set them up proper n' shit. Use Google if you must. Do this wrong and it won't even launch.
3. Congrad-you-fucking-lations! You have a working Mission Editor. Now what? [I]"oh christ what is all this shit"[/I] you ask. Well have this pretty picture:

3a. So, first things first, let's unfuck our view. Go to the "View" menu bar, and swap it to one viewpoint. I prefer this, maybe you don't. Fuck you.
4. So, you want to make a mission? You may or may not have a level loaded. Or hell, you may want to switch the one in your workspace. Click the "Scene View" tab or the "Mode" menu and then Scene View. Either or. This level is for the workspace only. You also need to specify it later in the mission.
5. Guess what Scene View is used for? Fucked if I know. The only reason we're here is to change the level. So either click the button that looks like a moldy egg with a folder opening, or the "Scene View" menu bar and choose "Set Level Binary Dump"
5b. Pick a level, any level! I recommend choosing actual levels though, and not hangers and shit. Never tried. Maybe it's really cool, maybe it crashes the game. I stick with Arcade levels because they're fun to look at, but Stalingrad (not winter) and Kursk are good flat maps if you need them.
6. Swap back to the Mission Editor mode. I'm not gonna baby you, figure it out. It's literally the inverse of how we got to Scene View.
7. Go to "Mission Editor" and let's pop us up a new mission. Program's gonna have a tiny baby shit-fit when you do this. Give it a second.
8. Let's make sure our mission doesn't fuck itself later. Go to the properties bar on the right, and then Mission Settings. Pop it open. Shift + P if you click it away by accident. Or the little G-on-paper icon.
9. Now there's a lot of shit here. Feel free to parooze. What's really important is the "Mission" tab. Open it up. Here, you need to name the mission. Set the exact level you chose earlier under "Level." Change the mission type to Training. I don't know how the others work at all. Figure it out yourself. You can also fuck with weather and what campaign it's listed under – but I recommend keeping that as UserMissions.
10. Wow we're almost to the part where you get to fuck with shit. How cool is that. First, we need to give a short introduction to units. See the little tank icon next to the star thingy (I'm so descriptive). Click it to make a new unit. The thing that says "Armada", or should, indicates what type of unit you're making. Make a single plane. Do this by clicking in the viewport. Right click to stop making units. Do that after making one.
11. This is Armada 1. I'll let you figure out how to move and rotate them. What's more important is that we open the object properties panel. Press P or click the thing that looks like paper with a fold in the bottom left.
12. Oh sweet merciful christ look at all this shit fuck dicks. We need a player unit, so drop down to where it says "+ player" and click it. Then tick the checkbox. Also set the army to "1" as "2" is the default enemy. The icon should turn green after that. If you want clones/allies, you can increase the count. Fuck around with this more if you want. If it forgets what you were looking at, click on the plane icon via the viewport again, or use the Object Search button that's somewhere.
13. What we need to do is mess with the class (plane type) and weapon/bullets. Make Armada 1's class any plane you own. It has to be something you currently own, I'll tell you how to fly anything later. You can also expand the Weapons & Bullets tab to give yourself different ammo belts and bombs/rockets if the plane supports it. Unlike the actual plane, you don't have to own these if you want to test them.
14. There's one last thing you need to do. I'm going to assume you have a few braincells, so find your way back to “Mission Settings.” Now that we have a player unit, we need to go to “Player_TeamA” and set the wing to “Armada_01.” Otherwise the mission crashes or some shit. I don't know, blame the Russians.
15. Congradurations! You're set. You need to save it in the UserMissions folder. If you don't have one, make it. So it reads like this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\War Thunder\UserMissions

Fret not, small child. Create more units on the enemy team, team 2. Armada means plane, or a group of planes. Tracked/Wheeled Vehicles are AI units. Tank_Models are the ground forces tanks. Structures are things like bridges, bunkers. Air defense is what it says on the tin. If you need help with ships get the fuck out. All of these units can be set up to spawn in groups, and you can (need) to change if they fire at will or not. I learned the hard way when spawning 20+ battleships under the player spawn. Play around with it, it's how I learned.
2. “TEACH ME TO FLY PLANES I DON'T OWN AND POSSIBLY HOW TO GET BETTER AT LOVE MAKING.”
Ok, this one is more tricky. I'm going to assume you have a working mission with a plane you own. Good. Open it in the editor AND in War Thunder. Good? Good. Start it up in War Thunder. While flying the [I]plane you own[/I] in War Thunder, press escape. Swap (alt-tab) over to the CDK. Change the player's Armada unit into whatever plane you want. [B]Save the mission[/B]. Swap back to War Thunder. In the menu, press RETRY. Do not back out to the hanger. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Do enjoy flying planes you don't own. And don't fucking assume a plane that shits errors in the CDK's console and doesn't have a model will somehow work in War Thunder.
3. “IT'S CRASHING SEND HELP.”
Read the console of the CDK to see if it's spitting errors. If only War Thunder itself is, you're fucked something up. Sorry.
4. “I WANT TO RECREATE THE BATTLE OF KURSK FULL SCALE WITH TANKS, INFANTRY, AND PLANES. HOW DO?”
Don't ask me. I use the CDK to dick around. It was a miracle I got this far, I'm probably never going to bother to make a legit mission.
