Not because people kept childishly calling it the Death Star (Type-99-1s on a new dumptruck FM/rice paper DM model, scary~); but because the cockpit has like four people shoved in it. It looks like bomber command central.

Being mostly intended for very long range missions, American and Japanese planes have generally bigger/more fuel tanks than Soviet, German and British planes which were mostly intended to short range push back and forth. That might make it more likely a fuel tank gets hit as German or Soviet plane is likely just hollow on the same spot.
I honestly never felt that effect personally tho and definitely wouldn't attribute it to America as their weak spot.

I just took out some guys engine, tail and elevator but hey lets give the kill to some ass wipe who hit the plane only once
I really wish it took critical hits into consideration instead. If it's obvious the pilot lost control of the aircraft, nobody should be able to get credit for shooting the aircraft beyond that.
It also annoys me that you can keep shooting dead planes for points in AB
I can't count how often I've died to allies doing that when I'm ungluing myself from someone

It [B]really [/B]annoys me that games like this generally don't let you pick what game-mode you'd like to play - sure, it [I]may[/I] mean some game-modes die because of unpopularity, but if they're that unpopular then maybe it's time for a rework to make 'em as enjoyable as the more popular ones.

I know its kind of an annoyance in itself but if you are getting extremely sick of it you could try RB
Don't be afraid of Realistic. The transition control wise, from Mouse AB to Mouse RB is the same thing. The only thing you need to change is your mindset (1 player kill = you helped the team/broke even; 2 = carrying) and reliance on AB magic/oddities, like overspeed, WEP, etc.
The biggest transition from AB to RB is "holy shit every turn and loop makes me slow as shit why" and you have to spend effort accelerating back.
I've been playing nothing but tonks for the last couple of weeks, kinda want to fly RB again. Is it in a good state? Especially in regards to midtier Germans, feel like flying my precious 109 F2 again.
109s up to the G-2 are still amazing, yes.
That tier locking stuff kinda pisses me off right now. In WoT you kinda focused on one line and got that sweet final unlock in your line, in my case I got to the Panther II.
But in WT, you need six vehicles of each tier to advance to the next.
Want to get your precious Panther II medium tank?
Well [I]fuck you[/I]. You need to grind the whole Tiger and Jagdpanzer line down to the second last unlock.
From Panther D to II, that takes an additional 440 000 RP on something that already needs 825000 RP without that handicap.
It's a fucking terrible system designed for extremely fleshed out plane trees.
And even then, I miss the old Rank 0-20 system where, bam, new rank = all the new planes of said rank.
Should we make a squad and play? I'm feeling pretty lonely...

I don't miss that at all. It singlehandedly made me quit the game because there were not only entire tiers where you would get literally nothing, but you had to wait the entire tier grind without anything new at all.
Like seriously dude, this [I]is[/I] the old system except you get things as you unlock them instead of all at the same time much later.
If we can get a 4-stack together I'll join that, but only RB (maybe SB but who even plays that here anymore?).

Well, i'm trying to get some people into a squad. I was thinking if we could play RB (SB goes too but i'm not the Topgun in it)
