Another mod news update for anyone looking for something interesting to play:
Pan's Generic Mod ([url]http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=47127[/url]) is pretty cool, it has a good variety of monsters and weapons with great sounds and effects, plays pretty well on top of most WADs, too.
The Aliens TC is getting a map to go with it finally, based off that one world Doom 1 level merge. It's fun with randomized everything, though sometimes you get screwed over by not finding a weapon for awhile. Vents connect together a lot of the maps, allowing you to fully explore all of Ep1-3 for gear, all while fighting random enemies. It's still pretty buggy at the moment, but the atmosphere is great and there's a lot of potential there. Wrath of Cronus ([url]http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=35846&start=240[/url]) got an update not too long ago with more fixes; it's a cool Hexen RPG mod that works well in all IWADs, Hexen, Heretic and Doom included. You can play as one of several classes: the original trio plus a couple more like a necromancer or hunter. It goes great with most maps since you level up by fighting enemies, and rather than fighting typical items you find armor, scrolls, different powerups, etc.
Lastly, BDJ ([url]http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=47229[/url]) is a Brutal Doom variant with a different take on fatalities. Instead of just getting health for fatalities, you can get things like ammo, armor, etc. They also play randomly ala Skyrim executions, rather than every time you get a melee kill. Interestingly, there is no fist weapon anymore, you hit 2 separate buttons to kick and punch, allowing you to combo. Grenades are also added, and they're great at clearing rooms quickly with a well-aimed toss.
seconding the BDJ recommendation, it's probably the most fun Brutal Doom variant I've played. The sounds are fuckin' great

It's been a while, but I think it might have been either the Original Missions or Second Encounter.

Does anyone knows how can i fix the use key problem: i binded the use key to "e" and enter but everytime i press the keys it doesn't work, like it's not binded. Not sure what is. Modded and vanilla version has this problem

Shame it doesn't work with the others due to needing DEHACKED scripts, maps are all fucked up

I fixed it, so I don't actually need help anymore. :v:
I was trying to compile a script for a mod I found and edited. It's a music randomizer mod that has 250 midis of real songs, but I wanted to make them the default DooM tracks. I had 48 tracks, and it would still try and load tracks beyond that, so I was editing the code so it only read up to track 48.
Got TrenchBroom 2.0 beta access for Hexen 2 support, playing around with it

I would love to see a modern Hexen game, if maybe only out of curiosity of what a modern one would look like.
Hexen 2 is one of my favorite games because of some of the shit the weapons do when powered up (ice storms, tornados, the assassin's weapon literally spawns chains that rip people apart)
It's a shame we never got a Hexen 3, I would've liked to see how creative raven would've gotten with each class's weapons.
It's also a shame unlike Quake Hexen 2 has barely gotten any custom shit, though I can understand why. Up until recently the only editor that supported it was QuArK, and using that thing is like being back in the 90s, literally.
I'm glad Trenchbroom 2.0 supports it, hopefully once that's released maybe we might see a little more Hexen 2 shit.
I mean, texture alignment errors aside, this took me roughly 10 minutes total, while doing the same with what's actually available for Hexen 2 would have had 10x more texture problems and probably taken 45 min to an hour.

well usually modern reboots just barely remind you of the original. Ziggurat's got the medieval mage shooter concept but its just a little bit off from being an actual hexen 3.
I'd like to have a new hexen-style game with melee classes as well (maybe something like dark messiah)
My friend was looking through the Hexen 2 code and apparently melee weapons have actual arcs. The crusader's hammer has randomized left, right and overhead swings and it actually hits things based on the actual swing arc, which is pretty surprising for the time it came out.
In a way that annoys me because the swing should be player controlled.

Don't think so, but any Egypt style maps go pretty well with it. Epic in particular feels fitting.
