The skeletons are different compared to that version though.
I don't want to spoil it but it's way funnier

Also, I saw HDoom Dev mention Demonsteele on their blog
Exactly what it sounds like. NSFW
Do you guys have any music packs you recommend for Doom 1 and 2? I deleted a bunch of my saved ones a bit back and it's hard to find good ones, since the links for many are dead. I have some from those "Brutal Doom" music packs, but I've gotten tired of those.
I wish there was a Painkiller music wad or something, that game had awesome music that'd fit Doom perfectly. For the most part I've been playing through with Doom 64/PSX music for a more ambient experience, but it's nice to have regular music sometimes too.

Demonsteele has a download for a music randomizer mod that comes loaded with a ton of midi tracks of a nicely varied variety of metal music. Works fine with other mods, too.
I've been trying to get the Quake soundtrack set up in Quakespasm, and I followed as many tutorials as possible, but I can't get it working.
Here's what my directory looks like, just for reference:

Any help?

The file path (at least for me but it's worth changing it to try) has to be "Quake\Id1\sound\cdtracks", and there's an extra zero at the start of each track name. track002 should be track02, and so on.
the files have to be trackxx.ext not trackxxx.ext
Oh it seems I took too long messing about with it myself :v:

Thanks man, it had to be in the same directory I was using, but changing the file names worked.

Thanks, does anyone know of any other good music sets?

Classic Doom 3 soundtrack mod is a good one, but if you're sick of metal covers for Doom and ambience packs, then this might be a good mod:
http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=29117
Instead of straight up new music tracks, this is a bunch of soundtracks from popular Doom mods and other 90's shooters, set up into a system where you can pick and choose the tracks you want.

Are you guys hyped for Doom 3?
[sp]Yes, this is a real page from EGM, June 1995[/sp]
For those who like hard mods, lots of features and Quake 3, Hunter's Moon got updated to 2.6, adding 2 new monsters and lots of fixes.
I love that mod, too bad its too hard for me.
Thanks, does anyone know of any other good music sets?
I modified it to have all of Doom and 2's soundtracks in it, as well as the unused tracks released by John Romero some time previously, if you're interested.

Some of those shots are straight out of E1M1, what the christ
Some of those shots are straight out of E1M1, what the christ
Also I can't tell if those are SNES or PC screenshots because the enemies only face one way and what looks textureless floor and ceilings to me, but the PC HUD is in all screenshots, and it looks like the alpha shotgun is in most of those shots. That could be photoshopped in there.
Remembered an old horror mod that I decided to dig up and try out today...

Got pretty hectic as you need to read up and learn about how to handle the monsters, at least I got through the first level of Perdition's Gate on my second try. Anyone who plays Doom should try this wad at least once.
It's an addon mod so you gotta load up your own map wads along with it. Deathmatch maps with exit rooms work pretty well.
I like the confused mumbling of the zombies in that sound mod.

I would be too if a mad man wielding a chainsaw broke into my home.

Does anyone here play Zandronum?
Since this is the de-facto General Retro FPS thread...
A couple of weeks ago, Kaiser posted these incredibly cryptic photos in the "Doom The Way Id Did" development IRC. Here's one of them:

Then, on some online radio podcast show majig the other day (Season 3 Episode 10, 28 minutes in), Night Dive CEO Stephen Kick outright announced that they're working on remastering the Saturn port of Exhumed/Powerslave for digital re-release on PCs.
Hmm. Hmm.
Does anyone here play Zandronum?
I do. Zandronum is cool.
The modding scene hasn't been doing too well as of late, though. Releases are getting slower and slower, and 2.0 has been delayed so long I know of several people who've just given up on Zandro compatibility for their mods and moved on to ZDoom/GZDoom.
Still, it's great for grabbing mates and killing shit with.

Oh fuck yes I have been looking for a sustainable way to play this for like fucking ages (kinda wished the used the cool hud from the PC version but fuck it i'll play it anyway).

Now I have a dilemma.
I have $10 that I was saving for Undertale, but now I'm not sure what to get.
I fucking love the PS1 version of Powerslave.

Considering the are big differences between the PC and PS1 versions, i wonder if they'll re-release both of them or just one.

On that note, Someone's been working on a remake that ports the PC version from proto-BUILD to GZDoom.
i'm so happy i can't even describe it
