who says you can't teach an old shield new tricks?

Shields don't have brains, you can't teach them tricks, silly. :downs:

Unless, of course, we are talking of a shield with a living brain on it.
when all else fails, throw all every single weapon and non-weapon you have

They don't need one though.
Just played Strafe for the first time. I'm real impressed.
The railgun sucks a little bit; it's kinda twitch-aimy, not like I think fits in the game. It's fun, though.
Watch out for the little orange fuckers that shoot acid at you. I've found the rapid-fire horizontal spread on the shotgun is good for killing them.
The first time I loaded Strafe up, I fell out of the level. Fortunately, if you hold "ALT" or press "L" it works.
I tried out Strafe the other day, and to be honest I was a little underwhelmed. But it's a really early build, so I'm sure it'll get better over time; it was nice of them to release a demo at all this early in development.
Did you guys see the mythbusters doom episode? I was gonna link a clip but I'm sure you did, seeing how active this thread is. The workshop recreated in Doom 3 was awesome, especially because I recognize the editor well.
Just making sure, there may or may not of been a big talk about it already. I don't follow the thread.

If you could, please link the episode, i really wanted to see it since i heard that they were doing it
There's a couple uploads on youtube, the other one is partly cropped out, and then there's this:

You can search for mythbusters video game special.
Again, the DooM 3 level of the workplace (actually a military base) and the UAC-style info visuals were like the coolest thing.
No you dumb ass sword, stop orbiting around the demons.
Sword.
Sword please

Keep it like that. I can see it being really good vs groups, and is generally more interesting than most thrown weapons.

Fairly useless against single targets though, but I suppose if you get sick of it orbiting your target you could always punch it back into the sword's flight path.
I'll leave it like this.
Just finished erection of evil.
Next up the lost mission - I played it once and the level design was awful, but it's worth beating since I love the game.
[del]Oh boy, the surveillance GUI crash is back! I found a fix but it's 403.[/del] Found it, working.
I wish I could just play this on the original DooM 3. BFG brought nothing but trouble.
[editline]edit[/editline]
Still playing the lost mission. DraGonFeets action figures? What fetish crap is this devs?

I figure the sword and punching itself is for single-targets, the throwing would be for crowds--if you wanted single targets, you wouldn't have thrown the sword.
So I've been working hard to improve some other elements regarding the arm cannon, specifically the dart mode, and the powered cannon's two attacks.
I think I'm nearly done

Just don't play the sequel first, because it makes the first one look like crap :P
I learned alot by making golden souls, it has it's flaws but i think i made a really good experience.

Hey look, I made an update to GMOTA

Unique special attacks for all weapons are now implemented.
In addition to your usual arsenal of three special attacks from double-tapping a direction with the sword ready, now you have a fourth coming from instead hitting alt-fire when readied.
Has anyone here tried this newer source port called Doom Retro?
It's like Chocolate Doom but with some extra features and tweaks.
[editline]13th March 2015[/editline]
The only problem I have with it is that Doom II won't launch.
Chex Quest, Hacx, and Doom 1 work fine for me.
Doom 2 works fine for me, but Chex doesn't. It's insanely picky about what works and how it works.
[vid]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8380892/WEbms/gauntlet%20enhancer.webm[/vid]
you know what's cool? Powerups.
Once I'm done with this there'll be four passive upgrade items heroes can find, these items will apply minor tweaks and buffs, and when damaged their appropriate item/bar will gray out, when full on gray you lose the item. Though it'll restore color by itself over time. Also the POW system is going to work this way too because the one hit from a melee attack = instant loss is a pain in the ass
Really starting to get into Doom modding, even if it is kinda overwhelming at the beginning.
Working on a couple weapons atm,

Those are really cool, Headcrab! I meant to rate artistic, but somehow hit optimistic instead v:v:v
I haven't touched Doom modding in such a long time, but all this cool shit makes me want to get back to it! I never got around learning DECORATE. Is that still what is used to make mods?

DECORATE and ACS.
Depends on how complex your mod is and what you want to do. I'd argue a solid mod could be made on DECORATE alone.

You're prolly wanna check out WildWeasel's modding tutorials to get a solid handle on DECORATE - it seems pretty easy as far as coding goes (then again, I'm not exactly who you'd call an experienced or well educated coder, I know bits and pieces here and there but that's it)
Hell I started like three days ago and I've already managed to knock out a fully working revolver (based on someone else's sprites, but heavily modified, rehanded, and with parts redrawn from scratch) which uses its own ammo, reloads properly, and fires projectiles. It's still a bit rough (uses shotgun sounds as a placeholder, and the projectiles don't have spread yet - I'll probably have to use the ACS Random function for that) but it works and kills zombos stone dead.
