Or the arrow keys.
After Alien Vendetta, we will do Scythe.
Some Carmack quotes:
"Developing RAGE for consoles was a big mistake, future titles will put priority on PC hardware"
"And now when we’re looking at PCs that have ten times the horsepower of the consoles... I’m making a large change in my direction, just saying ‘We should be focusing on building things efficiently on the PC and [then] deploying on to consoles.’ And we didn’t make that as crisp of a distinction as we should have. "
"And then with Doom, which isn't going to have much featured driving in it, it is going to be a more traditional run n' gun first person shooter there. We'll let that run at 30fps on the consoles which will essentially let us to 3 times as rich of graphics. Without fixed overheads and padding on there, we can throw alot more at it. A lot more triangles, a lot more particles, screen warps, all sorts of other things going on top of it, and it'll look like a completely graphics engine even though it's built on the same basics there. The other side benefit is that on the PC, you'll actually be able to get a 60hz game."
"There will be guns, blood, demons, and gibs."
"In other words, the PC version of the new Doom should look significantly better than on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, whereas the console ports of Rage will be more or less the same visually.”
Nice to see a dev acknowledging that it's better to make a game for the PC first, then port it. The quality ends up being way higher on both platforms then console to PC, where it usually goes from mediocre to unplayable.

This is why I put Doom 4 at the top on my most looked forward to list. I reaaaaalllly hope ID redeem themselves. Please...Make it awesome, and make sure we can still run at like 70 MPH while blasting several demons with a double barrel shotgun.

Also, anyone up to playing on Skulltag?
Oh yeah and bring back non-linear maps, but make them huge. I can just image a massive non-linear map where you have to unlock certain doors and such like the original doom, and while backtracking you are faced with even more challenges and events.

I'm not so sure a key system would work well in modern shooters, but the maps should definitely have more optional territory than required territory, plus several different routes to take like the classic games.
Played ghouls forest 3 with mysterious and skypilot
It was not fun..

Doom wasn't really 'non-linear', but it did embrace a more open-ended approach and figuring out methods of bypassing things or poking around everywhere instead of 'grab keycard, open door, go to exit' - same with Quake 1 & 2. I won't nostalgia trip and say that all the new stuff should fuck itself, but a change of pace and merging old with new without being unoriginal or retarded would be appreciated at least.

Don't worry...the nightmare is over.
Ugh, Alien Vendetta was already hard, but now it's just getting ridiculous. It swarms you with so many enemies that my connection can't keep up and I constantly disconnect because of missed packets.
Apparently there was a DEAD BABY in one of the 20 shock images in Ghoul's Forest.
NOPE
ive found another nifty gameplay mod

yes, the SSG is pump-action now
Neat, I might give it a try.

One level had 1510 enemies IIRC.
snoopy snaip
Fastest run of Doom 2 on Nightmare I've seen was about half an hour.
One level had 1510 enemies IIRC.
The newest version of the wad generator Oblige can generate levels with Nuts!.wad levels of enemies. I generated one the other day which had 7,600 enemies. The map was freaking enormous though. Even being able to carry an unlimited amount of ammo and using Skulltag/Zandronum/GZDoom's 'sv_fastweapons 2' console command it still took me 50 minutes to beat the level not counting all the deaths. (On ultraviolent of course.)
Is that a SVN? Oblige's being re-coded IIRC and the latest official release can't really do anything that's impressive.
You can get a beta release in the OP of this thread on Sourceforge.
I love you.
Here is a cool little mod I use, i have no idea what the original source of it or name of it is. A member here posted it in the last thread I believe.
Adds a couple new weapons some new enemies, reloading for weapons (so make sure to bind that key) So its good for a new play though of any of the doom games.

It works in Doom 1, but recommend using it in the Doom games based on Doom 2. I also Recommend a zDoom based Source port for it.
Replying to a post from way back in 2011.
I found the sauce of the wad, it's called Doom Plus.

Sadly fucking Rapidshare removed the link because it was "illegal".

Ah, can you upload it for me? That was one of the first Doom enhancement wads I played.

There
Prepare yourselves, for this might be the most hilariously horrible doom wad ever made.
