LittleInferno on the Doomworld forms has some... interesting results trying to play Doom in VirtualBox
Looks sickening.
Reminds me of the GBA port of Medal Of Honor: Underground [editline]5th April 2015[/editline] I got the Catacombs pack off GOG. If only Apogee published it instead of being doomed to obscurity, only given to Softdisk subscribers. IMO it's better than Wolfenstein 3D.
is it just me or the sound in BFG is incredibly quiet? like it's in mono or something. I enjoyed lost mission even though I recognized alot of areas like marphy said, but it still has cool value. It's the only doom3 official game where you have no special alien ability and must rely on pure DM against any threat. The hell chapter was also very cool and unique compared to the other two games, and the guardian boss is fun because again, it's killable with pure damage and no puzzle shit. I didn't really understand the intro where your guy gets pulled and eaten inside a vent then you magically wake up but whatever. I noticed they changed the part where bravo team gets destroyed in D3 to put the same vent entrance for lost mission, that's a nice thing. Though they moved the hidden plasma room PDA right on the main route which is really dumb. it also feels like BFG has much much better mouse movement, so IMO it's not a complete total disaster. my solution is I simply play both retail and bfg versions on my pc :v:
It sounds like it would have been better to do the BFG edition as an upgrade or patch for the original version, assuming they could keep modding intact.
also wow I checked sprites on that game several times and I never even noticed the little skull :v:
There's a whole ton of rad resources in obscure games that are super-easily accidentally skipped over or missed over. It's really exciting, it's kind like digging for treasure. Except instead of getting money you get some sprites or sounds to use for your thing. Hell, there's a lot of resources in games we already know that are easily missed over. Did you know Strife has gas grenades?

Is there a good soundfont (in .sf2) that i should use while playing Heretic, i love when it sound like like old soundcard and 16bit console.
Hell, there's a lot of resources in games we already know that are easily missed over. Did you know Strife has gas grenades?
Yeah I think they left them out because the Incendiary Grenades were just as effective at destroying all of the Acolytes ever. Man, that grenade launcher was a tricky beastie to use, as in you'd need to be careful around doorways since aiming a little too high could cause the grenades to bounce off the doorframe and turn you into chunky salsa with shrapnel-flavoured tortilla chips.
Has the latest GzDoom SVN messed things up for anyone? It messed up all my display settings and such so I have to reconfigure everything now. And when I change my resolution the screen just goes black and won't refresh, but I can still move around the menus.
haha I'm going through LameDuke resources looking for stuff for my project and turns out there's a True Lies poster in there: not even some jokey swapped around version like iunno "false truths" no it's straight up the movie poster with arnie's smug mug and everythin wonder what it was? some kinda planned tie-in/promotion? just an action movie nerd dropping in an overt reference to something he liked (god knows DN3D era 3DRealms were basically just a big bunch o' action movie nerds)? random texture they threw in to avoid making a fake poster? that's why I like going through unused stuff so much you find some weird/interesting things
Finally got a Mac OS9 emulator working. [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/cLFbBi.png[/t] Now I just have to find where my old Doom and Duke files are.
Ngghhhhh, someone can play Pathways into Darkness.
Probably pretty late, but Doom in Unreal is a strange mix
Wrong music, 0/10.
Wrong music, 0/10.
Too much bloom, too many reflections, monsters going 2 feet and hour, 0/10. Didn't even try.
Too much bloom, too many reflections, monsters going 2 feet and hour, 0/10. Didn't even try.
Wrong monster placement, wrong monsters, wrong lighting, wrong texturing, wrong weapons for Map01, absolute butchering of geometry, etc, etc.
Wrath of Cronus (http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=35846&start=255) got updated today to 1.8A. It's a fun Hexen RPG that you can play in Doom, Strife, Heretic and Hexen, if you've never tried it. It also comes with a nice Hexen texture pack for Doom to make it all blend together better.
You could say it seems quite... unreal.
no
that was cringeworthy.
In more Doom modding news, Pillowblaster updated his Guncaster mod with some cool new effects and weapons (http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=37066). It runs in Heretic normally, and can run in Doom and Hexen as well with the patches in the OP.
PowerSlaveEX enters alpha this April. According to Kaiser, ETA on a fully playable version is in May.
Somehow I don't really think that remake was made to be completely serious or in a proper redesigned way.
It's almost like the guy was just having fun with UE4... !
It's almost like the guy was just having fun with UE4...
We all know fun is just a myth.
