Honestly, I think id should just get Kerry King from Slayer to write and record Doom 4's soundtrack. The music of the series will come full-circle.
lets just keep modern Slayer as far away from Doom as possible i think Doom needs some metal, bu not every song in the score should be metal. it needs to have ambient/industrial stuff too and if we're talking big name metal makers, get Mustaine on the phone instead; at least he can write a catchy melody
i think Doom needs some metal, bu not every song in the score should be metal. it needs to have ambient/industrial stuff too
Funny I think they need to try Trent Reznor again. (If you didn't know Doom 3 Soundtrack and Sound Fx was originally handled by Trent Reznor, before the ambient soundtrack we know today.)
Wasn't Sgt. Mark IV working on Brutal Hexen at one point, actually?
Yeah, it was decent. I think Hexen and Heretic actually needed the brutal treatment a lot more than Doom did. Doom has fairly satisfying guns and gore already, but Heretic's weapons and effects are pretty terrible and wimpy. Hexen's somewhere in between.
The only part of Hexen i like is when you come out of the grave and go into the cathedral -- then you blow up the monks with teh dynamite.
Blood remains one of my all time favorite games. The player character's pure insanity was great. I used to cheat in unlimited ammo and turn on invuln to play around with the remote dynamite. I loved jumping into huge pits that were supposed to be insta-kills due to fall height and trying to get back out.

Amazing leaked "Doom II: The Movie" footage, clearly.
Amazing leaked "Doom II: The Movie" footage, clearly.
With amazing GMOD and L4D2 elements thrown in.
I don't know, that would sound pretty goofy In My Humble Opinion. Like, I never associated any of the music in Doom with metal because it never remotely sounded like guitars to me.
Most of the songs in the original soundtrack were ripoffs of 80s metal. Shawn's Got the Shotgun from Doom 2 was just South of Heaven. It would make sense for id to hire some olds guitarists from 80s metal bands to work on the soundtrack. That, or get Bobby Prince back. [editline]26th May 2015[/editline]
and if we're talking big name metal makers, get Mustaine on the phone instead; at least he can write a catchy melody
I like the way you think.
Better have some more of this [sp]heyyy[/sp]
Better have some more of this [sp]heyyy[/sp]
it honestly sounds pretty creepy when playing at normal speed, though there is like one point where you hear it go DANNY WON! HEEEEEY! I think it works better with Doom64's look than with the PSX port
Axes are still pretty cool. [vid]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8380892/WEbms/more%20axing.webm[/vid] This doesn't have its magical properties yet, I just wanted to show off the model rip I managed to pull off and make look nice. once I get the magic in, it's gonna shoot off a firestorm attack when you swing it with primary, and secondary will throw out an ethereal boomerang ghost axe that rebounds off monsters and walls, all the while you still hold the real axe, for the multi-tasker in all of us.
The only Doom 1/2 Weapon which I do not like is... BFG9000. IMO, you don't use it for low-level enemies, since it's a waste, and when used against the CD/SM, it still needs to pump a few shots off, to actually kill them. IMO, first time I played Doom 1 and got to Dis, I kept my BFG ready for the final boss. So I run out, right into the SM, fire BFG a few times and... the end screen appears, as I kill the Mastermind. To this day, one of the most anti-climatic bosses in a game which I got through.
The bfg's most useful property is simply crowd control really. Especially in situations where there's a lot of minor enemies with something like an archvile mixed in since the priority is taking care of the archvile so it can't easily attack you or revive all the dead enemies.

It looks like one of the battle axes in that game.

Fucking good work as always though. Is there a beta or something?

Yeah. in the 1980s. There's plenty of modern metal to choose from. Look at Killing Floor. (although i hate Demon Slayer)
i could live with that as long as things are kept instrumental
Too bad Hexen never got the popularity Doom got. The engine had a lot of potential.
Same could be said with Shadow Warrior v. Duke Nukem 3D too. Some of the custom maps had drivable vehicles.

Playing Blood in DOSbox kinda sucks.
Doom? On the Commodore 64? Yeah, it's possible [sp]if you have your C64 equipped with a SuperCPU[/sp]
Good lord. It literally looks like crap.

Imagine if it was an optional soundtrack. You could choose an ambient or blazin' metal experience.
That framerate though
I am curious to see if changing the screen size could make it playable.
But yeah, the puzzles tend to get a bit confusing, but it was a thing of back then, when you had to write stuff down. Good times.
Nowadays people get confused, when they see pen and paper. "What i'm supposed to do with these?"
Imagine if it was an optional soundtrack. You could choose an ambient or blazin' metal experience.
I think it is going for a mix, most people heard Quake/PSX/N64 ambience but Mick Gordon said the theme music played when the chainsaw was picked up. [sp] Apparently nobody heard it because the crowd was cheering so loud. [/sp] Mick Gordon also teased a track with a Vine with only the tag #teal the same day as the reveal/announcement, however it was taken down the next day. It was a Djent sounding riff IIRC. [edit] found a dead link on his facebook https://www.facebook.com/MickGordonMusic/posts/10152636746746318 He also might have released more teases, I'm sure https://twitter.com/Mick_Gordon/status/601637415833444352 is for DOOM, it sounds kind of industrial and he says "be sure to check out E3 ;)".
Hyped either way. I love that in gzDoom, I can load up some crazy violent mods and some metal music for a good time. Or pick up Hideous Destructor, and ambient and lighting pack, and suddenly it's a survival horror game.
Imagine if it was an optional soundtrack. You could choose an ambient or blazin' metal experience.
When you think about it, the choice of music really does work wonders to set the mood up for Doom. Like, think about the contrast between E1M1 on PC Doom and PSX Doom. Virtually same level. Virtually same enemies. Considerably different aura going about the level.
If they actually mix up the pace they could easily use both horror ambient and heavy metal.
