Well, I'm gonna get me Doom 3 BFG on preorder tomorrow, can't argue with $30 for 3 games; 2 classics, and one polished with it's expansion pack some additional levels.
Has anyone ever made a mod for Doom 3 to make the NPCs look better? They look so out of place with Sikk and Wolfen installed.
I know this is a Doom thread, but I think we can excuse one Quake-related question. Which Quake source port is best if I just want to play the game with proper mouse support, a high resolution and no DOS-box?
Use DirectQ. Do a little fiddling with the default settings and you'll have an authentic vanilla Quake experience with high resolutions and proper mouse support and whatnot. Thanks man [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] works flawlessly!
Regarding Doom 3 BFG edition, are the Original dooms included using the same engine? Or is it the same classic ones?
Regarding Doom 3 BFG edition, are the Original dooms included using the same engine? Or is it the same classic ones?
They are probably using what ever they used for the XBLA release of the games, which IIRC is a modified version of the original engine.

Also your link doesn't work. [editline]11th August 2012[/editline] Oh wait, you're right. http://www.geek.com/articles/games/doom-and-doom-2-use-rage-id-tech-5-engine-on-ps3-2012086/ Only the PS3 version of the original dooms are on the Rage engine, they needed to do that for the network code, it was easier then writing it from scratch to work with the PS3. The 360 and PC versions will be on the original engine since the network code is already made for those.
I wonder if it'll all be on one disc, it probably will be, but I can always hope. It'd suck though if it all got ran through one launcher like C&C The First Decade. And on an interesting note, I found a Doom II manual, in the back it has an order form for "exclusive" Doom II merchandise consisting of a hat and/or t-shirt with the logo emblazoned on it. I'd like to send it in and see what I'd get back, but I'm afraid of losing my money.
I still have my Doom 2 manual. I used to love reading through that thing. It's quite large, especially when you compare it to the Quake or Duke3D manuals. Plus it works great for when I want to work on a Quake map on my crappy laptop instead of my desktop.
Anyone hear that story about Doom 4 and Quake 5 being viewable on Steam? The only computers available to me are at school, and they block just about everything besides the school website and (apparently) Facepunch.
Yeah, it also contains the iD 5 SDK apparently. http://www.esreality.com/post/2322315/doom-4-quake-5-viewable-in-steam/
Finally bought Doom II and got Brutal Doom. I was not prepared at all for how hilarious it is.

All it says is testapp, it could be Doom 3 BFG Edition, unless it said Doom 4 and was changed after that was found?
Doom 4 & Quake 5 viewable in steam (47 comments) ( Forum: Gaming) Posted by Badb0y @ 10:24 EDT, 21 September 2012 - iMsg According to a recent post on reddit.com in September 2012 Bethesda has added a number of internal projects in the Steam catalog (Content Description Record). Including one called "ID Software Beta" in a package. Including the long overdue idTech 5 Software Development Kit, also known as id Studio, Doom 4, and a mysterious app called Project Ranger - suspected Quake 5. Ranger is the main character of the 1996 original Quake. Now its confirmed that Doom 3 BFG and Doom 4 for pc will be linked over steam. original german news: http://www.gamersglobal.de/news/58882/id-soft...-gesichtet links: http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/106pt7...more_were/ CDR: ID Software Beta - http://cdr.thebronasium.com/sub/2813 CDR: Doom 4 - http://cdr.thebronasium.com/app/206630 CDR: Project Ranger - http://cdr.thebronasium.com/app/205040
So Doom 3 BFG will use Steamworks?
I honestly hope that Quake V brings back the Lovecraftian castles of Quake 1, albeit not as grey or brown, and more twistedly varied in environments. If the level system was hub-based, kind of like in HeXen, that'd be kinda cool too.
If the codename for Quake 5 is Project Ranger, I'm willing to bet that's the case.
What, are they working on this "Project Ranger"? If so that's awesome. I hope that "app" on Steam with the name is actually Quake V; been a long time since there's been a Quake game, I think about 7 or 8 years.
So how do you guys think Doom 3 BFG will affect the modding community? Think it'll add in some new life to it?
So how do you guys think Doom 3 BFG will affect the modding community? Think it'll add in some new life to it?
I doubt it, Doom 3 is a huge pain in the ass to mod.
Talking about Doom, Grezzo 2 is a trashy, violent, blasphemous game made with the Skulltag engine for Doom 2. 90% of the content is literally stolen from other games, it's only in italian sadly, but that does not prevent you all from having fun with it :v:

Oh god.. You just don't watch that sort of thing at 1:30 at night..
Oh god.. You just don't watch that sort of thing at 1:30 at night..
The game itself is even crazier. The church level is truly crazy
