The intro screen is the best part though, it's amazing.
It's fun, but I play a lot of levels and it's sad when they gets overridden for the super loud intro. Same goes with Russian Overkill.
I'm writing screenplays for doom and quake [editline]6th June 2015[/editline] What the fuck where did these posts come from
I'm trying out Brutal Doom J. It's pretty neat, I thought it'd be dumber than it actually is. But I have one question: the mod by default comes with strafe leaning like in Quake, I have always loathed strafe leaning, is it possible to disable?
Right when I was almost done with the video. Yeah, the titlepic and other stuff doesn't give BDJ a big vote of confidence in it's quality, but it's fun. Dunno about the strafe leaning. All I found was:
Open up slade and go to the LOADACS lump and delete the word "strafetilting" or whatever it is. Then you'll be back to standard walking.
Looks like you'd have to do it manually. [editline]6th June 2015[/editline] Only other issue I have with BDJ is that it doesn't play well past about 400-600 monsters without janitor on, but then again, most gameplay mods don't.
It's fun, but I play a lot of levels and it's sad when they gets overridden for the super loud intro. Same goes with Russian Overkill.
Does it load that way even if you load the mapset after? You could probably go in and delete the BDJ titlescreen if you had to.
Should the Doom movie be redone to actually make sense and pay good tribute, who would play a good Doom Guy and who would be the best to direct it?
the doom movie should be a shot-by-shot remake of Commando just move the action to mars (you can splice in shots from Total Recall '90 if you're cheap) and replace all the bad guys with doom demons I LIKE YOU, IMP. I'M GONNA KILL YOU LAST
I think the biggest problems I have with Brutal Doom as a whole are both personal annoyances, that seem to be there no matter the version (unless I enable vanilla enemies in v20); Explosion splash damage and scratch/damage spam. In vanilla Doom one can fire a rocket into Doom II, Map02's nooks and crannies and almost everything explodes, while in Brutal most of the damage is very direct, even in the alt versions made by the community, and nearby enemies usually gib less and get knocked to the ground instead. And for someone that prefers avoiding damage due to games like Max Payne instilling a sense that any sort of injury, even small ones, can ruin you down the line, it drives me nuts that pretty much all the enemy buffs typically mean you're gonna take a lot of damage and often the moment you enter a room, but hey here's more powerful health and armor pick-ups and bonuses to make up for it. It makes Realism Mode in v20 a nightmare when just about every single Zombieman opens up on me the moment I round a corner because of their AI being jacked up. And when even one or two zombiemen can turn my health into swiss cheese if I don't have armor yet, it makes even the start of vanilla wads borderline nightmarish if you try to rush like a fool into any room. :suicide:
Should the Doom movie be redone to actually make sense and pay good tribute, who would play a good Doom Guy and who would be the best to direct it?
Tom Hardy as the Doomguy, directed by either James Cameron, Robert Rodriguez, or Sam Raimi. If Raimi directed, give us Bruce Campbell as an older Doomguy.
Edgar wright Or me I'm serious I have a plan and everything
Anyone know if there's a way to turn off or tone down HD's wandering AI mechanic? It's really cool right up until a Cyberdemon wanders through his out-of-map teleport early and breaks a map.
I hope you guys weren't looking forward to seeing doom 4 gameplay cus it looks like it ain't happening
I hope you guys weren't looking forward to seeing doom 4 gameplay cus it looks like it ain't happening
Oh, hell no. Not again, E3 is publically shown to the world over and they're trying to hide Doom 4's WORLDWIDE REVEAL again? I either call bullshit or they're insane.
what the fuck how does that make any sense

The Sunday Press Conference will probably be streamed.

The E3 conference is being streamed. That's where the gameplay reveal is occurring. It's the round-table discussions that might not be streamed.
Okay, yeah. I don't really care for the panels, I was gonna flip my shit if they decided not to stream Doom 4 again.
God, I can't wait another 8 days. I wish Bethesda would at least put out some screenshots.
Doomseeker really makes me want to scream and throw a temper tantrum. (So does most networking.) The exact same shit that works in every other game for me hosting a server, doesn't. The exact same shit that use to let me host servers and play with friends, won't. The exact same shit for tutorials and help boards are all entirely fucking useless. I can join my own game locally, but I can't online. The server absolutely refuses to be recognized via the master list or online. All my ports are forwarded. 10666 to 10750, along with 15300. I've tried the same ports that I was using for Synergy yesterday, no go. Yes, I obviously have a static IP because I do this shit all the time in Source/Killing Floor. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Beyond agitated.
so thats how youre meant to do it
At this point, I think the community could make a better DOOM 4 then they ever could.
At this point, I think the community could make a better DOOM 4 then they ever could.
plot twist: Doom 4 is actually just a repackaged version of [DEL]Swan Fox[/DEL] Demonsteele with an official branch of gzdoom. the netplay code is still terrible. everyone confused by that turn is told that "anime is the bright bold direction for the franchise" and that "id is exploring new horizons". MRAs are mad because both playable characters are female, saying "if I wanted to play a game about a girl, I'd play "Doomgirl" and that it's a "covert feminization of one of the most manly games in experience, which featured shit like tearing people in half and tons of blood man". Polygon releases fifteen articles about the game, both praising it for its perceived feminist values, and criticizing it for the violence. one article is titled "how Doom 4's gameplay actually has no depth at all", and the body of the article depicts an attempt to beat the game by just standing in place on e1m1. Gamergate 2, or Doomgate happens; as fans of the old, fans of the new, neckbeards, girls who happen to play games and have no opinions about that bullshit but are still expected to, the non-gaming press, and Anita Sarkeesian collide, eventually the DDoSing starts happening. due to a mistyped IP address, the attack is received by a freshly re-staffed Russian nuclear bunker instead of some minor game journalist's house in Arizona. the fresh conscripts panic, overwhelm the well meaning but outnumbered officers, and start launching missiles. From the radioactive ashes of the internet, a new breed of shitposters is reborn. stuck in our shelters, cut off from the world, the only access and lane of communication we have is the sad remainders of the world wide web. kept alive thanks to hardened undersea cables and EMP-proof new satellites, it keeps the dying lights of the world in a spider web, together. some say they roam the web. that sometimes, when you brave the ruins of Twitch, or head over to gaze at the [missing image] laden wastelands of Neogaf, or even Facepunch, where the gun control argument still crops up sometimes for a reason nobody quite knows (some say it's the ghost of a poster, stuck in the machine), you'll stumble upon them. Their names are simple, just "agitator" with an ever increasing number tacked on at the end. a "new message" sound will bleep, and you will click over to the icon. [no topic] [body: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA] another light is extinguished.
At this point, I think the community could make a better DOOM 4 then they ever could.
Once the reveal happens, i'm sure there'll be parodies if it's dumb, and people trying to remake it (probably even get rips straight from 1080p video even, although places like the ZDoom forums ban rips on very recent games) if it's legit enough for the fans to care.

It'd basically prove that they can't even hold a candle against Doom(2)'s longevity.
Are there any wads that remake maps from other games An unreal 1 campaign would be sexy
I am gonna be honest, I will be thoroughly surprised if it has mods, I am expecting it to not so really I can only be surprised here, because I already got the gut feeling and I've come to grips with it over a bowl of cereal.... yeah that's all it took, really.
My dream version is one that's easily modded and can even import plain Doom levels wad-style, and even has a music switch between ambient and raw. The realistic version I'm expecting is going to be a jolly good romp, but the tools will be released so late into it's life and so convoluted that no one will bother doing anything with them.
Brutal v20 have one gamebreaking thing for me - inability to reload the shotgun anytime you want. Back in v19 it always felt good to do a sweet "cha-ching" before jumping into a bunch of enemies.

Most of you may not remember me, but I'm more active at Doomworld, so I might as well lurk a bit. The screenshots above are showing a little map I made for KingDime's Birthday. You can find the download my map, as well as a few other maps made for Dime's Birthday here

Welcome back, your mapping skills are fantastic.
So I found the issue with Doomseeker. For the first time ever in all my years of hosting servers, Windows Firewall, which is disabled, was actively blocking Zandronum. gee-fucking-gee. All fixed now. :v:
