tbh I was way more hype for Doom 3 and enjoyed it in it's own special way.
I'm.. not actually that hype for this anymore. I mean I'll still preorder it without hesitation because I'm a fucking mong, but I'm not going to let myself get excited for much.
I know I'll lose days in that level editor though. Timesplitters memories galore.
I'm just glad that we have the SUPER SHOTGUN, some kick-arse gibs, multiple weapons at one time and no ducking in and out of cover.
The biggest thing by far for me is the inclusion of EVERY SINGLE WEAPON you had, plus a few extras from Doom 3. On a slowed, real-time selection wheel.
No more stupid fucking "can only carry 2 weapons" console bullshit we had to endure with for fucking years.
Yes I'm still sore over that.
I don't know about you guys, but I LOVED the trailers.

Seriously, everybody whining has clearly never seen a gameplay trailer at E3. Look at Wolfenstein to how it actually played. (Which this game was clearly heavily inspired by.)
Also, the multiplayer looks like it could be quake arena part 2
It looks alright. I know it's silly to think a Doom game made by an id which I think only has Kevin Cloud left would have anything to do with the original games, but it's weird to see the developers not get what was cool about the original Dooms.
My biggest issue is with the level design, going off on the idea that the trailer serves as a target for development which is often the case. Doom was Doom because of its level design, the abstract rooms and bizarre constructions which had little to do with the "real" world yet were elevated to what I think was one of the first instances of video-game community art.

Eh. Pretty much all of the original doom stuff has looooong since been completely eclipsed by the DOOM community.
By a massive longshot, really. I mean, the fact that included Mapping and scripting shows this entirely. Could you imagine how insanely PISSED the community would be if they weren't allowed to make stuff?
edit: Oh yeah, they're talking about the post-doom show. And the presenter said "we'll build these big spaces so you can use your speed. JUST LIKE IN THE ORIGINAL DOOM."

For fuck's sake, Doom was something different to everyone. They know what they think was cool. That's that.
I am excite!
They keep on dropping "run" and "speed" which hopefully means you're still gonna a quick sonofabitch.
EDIT:
NEW DOOM HAS ITS OWN CUSTOM ENGINE, NOT IDTECH5 (YOU KNOW, FROM RAGE). SPECIALLY BUILT. AW YE.
What the fuck are you smoking?
Nostalgia, its a hell of a drug.
New DooM is cool.
Honestly it looks like what happens when you take Doom 3, Quake 4, and RAGE, take out the suck and put them all together with Wolfenstein: The New Order/Old Blood mixed in there too. That's not a bad thing, and it's not "OH MY GOD SUPER HYPE AMAZING," but i'll probably get it because it looks fun and Snapmap will give me a large amount of dicking around potential.

This game is gonna rock, I love the map creator and the game looks just plain fun.
Still never engaged 5+ enemies at one time..
At least I can hope for some oldschool wads with some proper mobs.
For fuck's sake, Doom was something different to everyone. They know what they think was cool. That's that.
Right, but one of the reasons why Doom 3 wasn't considered a true Doom sequel was because of the way the maps were designed which were mostly tight and dark corridors.
That's all I'm saying, I hope the levels feel like Doom levels because that's really what made it Doom.

WHY DIDN'T THEY SHOW THIS? It looks so much better!
Even if the SP is lacklustre it'll be the MP that shines, and the Doom community will support it for years. The first steps for custom content are already in place and frankly, I'm excited.

To everyone who said it looked slow, look at this.
chaingun revenant best waifu, also looks like the assassin demon bosses are back.

Ehh, I'd be more reserved about that. Doom 3 and Quake 4 had great tools but never quite thrived modding-wise, though I always liked the Doom 3 Coop mods.

You seriously have to ask this?
So people can see what the fuck is going on.
If every doom fan buys three copies it will not be enough to justify the insertion point pricing and run-up costs.
They want everyone watching to grasp every aspect.
Seriously.
Not everything can cater to your specific fetish.
To everyone who said it looked slow, look at this.
Still slow compared to Doom.
Then we have the shit soundtrack, who thought wubs would be a fitting theme to one of the most metal games?
people speaking of doom as if it was sonic generations,

Yea I get that, but besides the multiplayer there wasn't much evidence of this in the actual presentation. I mean he shot his gun at walls before turning to the enemy for fuck's sake.
people speaking of doom as if it was sonic generations,
Honestly it might as well be. A last hurrah for what's left, and an attempt to not completely shit on what Doom is while still taking some steps to make its own impact. A celebration of old while accepting some new without having a weird divide between them like TNO did.
I have mixed feelings. It did look like Doom 3 just sped up and lit up during the gameplay, but the trailer got me a bit more hyped for it. I'll have to see more before I judge to critically. I will lean towards liking it though.
Still slow compared to Doom.

And thus re-begins the discussion of "is the music in Doom metal or not"
Fucking christ, you're interpretation isn't the only one. Also, I'm not gonna allow you to talk shit about Mick fucking Gordon.

We literally have 10 minutes of footage, all focused on showing off the visuals and the basic features.
You're seriously going to critique the game based on that?
And that was one song. One fucking song. That's not the whole soundtrack. Based on the gameplay trailers, there's going to be somewhat of an ambient soundtrack.
Doom 4 honestly looks awesome to me, loving the way theyre depicting hell especially.
