Yeah but that is the design, obviously it's harder to translate that into low-res pixel art and keep it the same. If they were making new versions of them they would base it off the concepts most likely
I think there's some stuff that looks cool and some stuff that looks really dumb. Well that's all, thanks for reading my opinion, cya
The only thing I hated about TNO is the dumbass AI in some of the stealth segments.
Well at least there's no stealth here, so we don't have to worry about that.
and its a bad thing because?
Because it's stupid to pre-judge based on incomplete information.
I really liked Doom 3's Hellknight, it actually looked creepy.
Because it's stupid to pre-judge based on incomplete information.
I'd rather err on the side of caution. Everyone always says "Oh it's just the E3 demo" and then we end up with something like Colonial Marines. People need to stop defending devs/publishers and force them to step their game up. We get these lazy "gameplay" videos that don't really show anything off because no one really expects better from them. The level design looks bland as hell too. I'm mostly worried we won't really get any custom content, since everything else released on that engine has 0 mod tools or released mods. The map maker is all fine and good for the first couple months, but I'm sure MP will be dead by then as it is for most console games.
i'd be impressed if they provided mod tools. the game is a lot like the new order in the sense that you get a full campaign or whatever, yet it only gives you maybe thirty dollars worth of content. there's no way the game can justify a sixty dollar price tag unless it really stands out with an expanse of content or at least the ability to create content rage was went from being a sixty dollar game to a bargain bin game in about three months. i was working retail when it happened. TNO was pretty much the same way. three strikes and you're out

It's good to be somewhat skeptical, but determining right off the bat that it will absolutely be horrible or amazing is a bit much.

The main divide was whether it was going to be faster paced or slower and more horror paced liked Doom 3. I'm not really happy with what I saw since it looks way too arcadey. I'll hope for better but given how games come out these days I'm doubting it'll be very good. Best case it's talked about for a couple months and then just falls completely off the radar.
So I looked on the PowerSlave EX site to see if there was an update on the situation. No news from Kaiser but I found a link the comments here that mentioned Night Dive posting about the source port on Facebook. The comment:
Well… I guess the Cease & Desist had nothing to do with Nightdive Studios… http://theancientsden.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/powerslave-ex-exhumed-released-on-pc.html?m=1
The Facebook post is gone but at least that rules out Night Dive being the ones issuing the C&D
I should mention that Carmack stated "presumably" we'd get the full id tool set for the game on his twitter. Carmack left a while ago though, so who knows.
To everyone complaining about the Chainsaw fatalities, I'm pretty sure they're gonna be optional. Take a look at this: "Super Chainsaw" I'm pretty sure the Chainsaw has modes, "Super Chainsaw" being the fatality one, and the normal mode will allow you to mow down enemies without being stopped/having to watch an animation.
Bethesda uploaded the entire Doom segment at 1080p 60fps
If original DooM had Wolf3D easter egg, what if this one will have The New Order one?
If original DooM had Wolf3D easter egg, what if this one will have The New Order one?
BJ Blazkowicz should be one of the co-op player models.
I think I figured out what bothers me about the melee stuff. It's like how in Ryse Son of Rome the melee combat is decent, and the finishers are cool at first, but get old really fast once you've been doing them for an hour or two. You realize that you're really just stunning enemies to start up the canned animation rather than really fighting anything and it gets really boring.
I think Doom might be ruining my life. I just strafed into my bedroom while swinging my hands around like an idiot. :v:
I guess they're gonna show more at quakecon next month. Just relax.
If original DooM had Wolf3D easter egg, what if this one will have The New Order one?
It would be the shit if they made the easter egg level be E1M1 from DooM, complete with the original music. :v:
It would be the shit if they made the easter egg level be E1M1 from DooM, complete with the original music. :v:
It would be the shit if they gave us most, if not all, of the original Doom 1 and 2 textures just for SnapMap.
or pull off the E3M9 trick again go through an sligtlhy different old level with a fake exit that leads to a cyberdemon
I hope they fix that big ass view model.
I made a thing.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/technology-science/technology/doom-4-outrage-grotesquely-violent-5884652 this fucking piece
it's 2015 and there's still people complaining about violence and gore in video games? 2 years ago the ROTT remake came out and nobody said anything about splattering people to chunks and blowing their limbs off or have their eyeballs splat against your screen and doom doesn't even have people as enemies

I want them to release the E1m1 cover from the trailer already. Also I hope snapmap gets alternative "tilesets" that you can mix and match so you could combine hell and UAC bases into one map
The way I see it is that executions in Doom are gonna be really similar to Serious Sam 3's. You can do them, but most of the time you really shouldn't. It confuses me when people assume there's no agency at all in the presence of a feature like an execution system.
At least they are fast. They seem like the type that I wouldn't mind doing once in a while since they usually take no longer than a reload animation would. As long as they are quick and the game doesn't force you to do them I don't forsee any problems. I do hope there is a melee key or something to do free punches though. Or like how he kicked that imp (at least i think it was an imp) off the ledge in the first demo, I hope that was just regular freeform melee that did that since it didn't seem like an execution.
I'm fucking loving the demon designs. Up close, you can really tell it's the same guy who oversaw the Pacific Rim Kaijus. I love the asymmetry and angular contours I'm seeing pausing and playing through this gameplay footage.
