Looks like we have an explanation for the new Chainsaw. I actually really like the idea of some asshole Marines trying to sneak around chainsaws and sell them in a shady UAC black market.

Seriously, what security guard, be it rent-a-cop or paramilitary, goes: "Hmm, instead of a bigger gun, I wish I had a fuckin' chainsaw." [sp]Apparently someone did, because I'm assuming that's how we get one.[/sp] :v:
I don't really know why people enjoyed that map. It was pretty boring.
for co-op, a few maps had isolated spawns where players didn't start together. I always loved this stuff when it happened. by the way what's the best port to run co-op with? snowberry is crappy, zdoom I don't get it. I just wanna do a listenserver, not a ded.
Try Zandronum. Thats usually your best bet for multiplayer.
anyone remember invasion unleashed [editline]18th June 2015[/editline] or ultimate torment & torture
Try Zandronum. Thats usually your best bet for multiplayer.
IIRC if you turn frame limiting on, the movement will feel more vanilla. Without that on it feels like you're sliding everywhere.
I don't really know why people enjoyed that map. It was pretty boring.
That's why I like the SNES port. E2M2 is completely gone.
That's why I like the SNES port. E2M2 is completely gone.
And in all ports that use the Jaguar maps, at least half of the entire map is cut out, greatly downscaling the maze-like qualities of it all.
I actually kind of want to play doom 64. Is there a mod that emulates the whole thing on gzdoom/similar shit so I don't have to get a n64 emulator ?

actually there's an even better remake called Doom 64-ex
I would actually counter-recommend Doom 64 EX, as it has superseded 64 TC and is both more faithful and offers more features. You can even jury-rig it to play cooperative. The downside is that you'll need a proper Doom 64 ROM for legal reasons. Those are quite easy to "obtain."
I've never even heard of this one before actually. What differences are there between it and the one I linked?
It was more or less continued development over. It's more faithful because it pulls resources directly from the ROM.
Doom64 TC suffers from several inaccuracies, mostly minor gameplay related stuff like player movement, level lighting, some enemy behavior, etc. Though the TC does have new levels and new types of enemies. Doom64EX is pretty much the real deal and is meant to represent the full fledged game and not as a TC or a mod. Honestly, Doom64EX is the real experience otherwise if you want Doom64 sprinkled with new content, then go for the TC.
If you want a the closest 1:1 representation of playing Doom 64 without the horrors of emulation or playing a shooter on one of those controllers, get EX. If you want a more dated and inaccurate version that adds some sprinkles and bonus content, get TC. TC is also built on Doomsday engine, which while nice, has a bit of it's own "feel."
I've never even heard of this one before actually. What differences are there between it and the one I linked?
EX is literally just a full source port for the game using the ROM. Absolution is basically a Total Conversion. Not really sure for that, but I know EX is 100% faithful.
EX is 100% faithful.
I wouldn't go that far, but it's likely as close as we'll ever get. A solid 99.9%. Especially since it's using a wad dumped directly from the ROM. I can't call it 100% unless I'm sitting in a dark room over my giant, shitty CRT television playing and being scared shitless. EX is also mod friendly for what tiny amount of mods there are. TC isn't, from what I've heard, and is a pain if you're desperate for them. [editline]18th June 2015[/editline] Sidenote: While Sunlust is beautiful and difficult, here's one major tip I give to all map makers here: Do not make secrets so fucking dangerous that they're not worth it. Seriously, it defeats the whole point. Why do I want to hunt for secrets if you're going to pander me with two medkits and some rockets that I have to fight through a lot of agitated skellingtons for?
Seems like Doom 4 is combining a few elements of Quake 4 (the hands remind me of it) and a bunch of Doom 3 elements (I like that plasma gun) I think Doom 4 looks pretty cool personally.
It's a very long way off and the last time I tried a Killing Floor (beta) event for KF2, exactly 0 people joined - but I had a fun idea: Around the weekend or two before Doom 4 launches, it might be fun to have a community co-op run through all of them. I'm thinking Doom 1, 2, and 3. Plain (maaayybe with something like PerKristan's HQ original sound effects, or Smooth Doom, etc). TNT/Plutonia and RoE might be if we actually get enough people/interest. I can easily host the servers for all of them (US, Texas.) Whadda guys think? I've never done cooperative Doom with more than one or two people, might get a bit too frantic/speedrushy, or it might be fun.

Might want to keep friendly fire off, though. Shit gets hectic with more than 6 people.

I need to figure out how to set up my Zandronum and Doomseeker again but I wouldn't mind some Doom multiplayer fun.

I suck at Doom but it would nice to get to know you peeps and shit In fact, if it's supported, then maybe we could do Doom 4 Beta multiplayer matches.
Way better support than I got for KF. Sure, I'll make a big thing closer to the actual launch date with downloads, instructions, IP, etc. I might need help from those who know more about running a good coop server for the best flags and the like, but this should be easily doable. My only experience with Doom Co-Op and 6+ people was a random Canadian server running Brutal Doom and it was really hectic. I'm thinking running Vanilla might not be so bad in comparison. (Stray thought, if we have a lot of people, is Nightmare! a better difficulty? Respawning monsters for the laggards and fast monsters for those who keep getting ahead.)
I'd be up for that (if my schedule permits). You should make a Steam group for us to join. Then, when the time comes, just shoot everyone in the group a message. I think if we have a handful of people, we can handle Nightmare mode. We should have limited lives per map too, so that there's some actual challenge. Respawning weapons/ammo is a must for multiple people.
Nah make everything limited, scavenger hunt mode :))))) [sp]but seriously, respawning weps and ammo pls[/sp]
Well, I beat Doom 1 with Project Brutality mixed with a custom difficulty wad where it's basically Brutal Doom's Realism Mode but with -fast disabled. It's like going from a dude with an assault rifle and a pistol who can die in 5 seconds to a revolver-silnging, shotgun-wielding, BFG-blasting god of destruction who can still get his face melted off in seconds by those goddamned ceiling-crawling imps.
Project Brutality is surprisingly fun. I was expecting it to be a crappy kitchen sink mod with a bunch of terrible, unpolished features but most of it was implemented pretty well. Some of the monster behaviors like the imps climbing on ceilings/walls is a little glitchy, but it was worth it to see flying revenants.
There, I made the group. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/PFPD4C Don't expect quality, it's just there to remind you guys when 2016 rolls around if we do the thing. I guess you can use it for Facepunch Dooming or the like too, idgaf. There's a Steam group on the OP, but I'm going to use this one since I can post the announcement with no effort and/or personally message people.
I know I don't shut up about it but Doom 64 had some really cool level design. Most of the levels had a lot of scripted events. A lot of times they were obvious, and it made it pretty tense. Other levels were a straight up deathmatch. The progression into hell was so cool, it felt like you were fighting your way in. Some hell levels were mazes, some were castles, and others were something else entirely.
