First time I ever played Doom 1 Episode 1 straight through was on my iPod touch.
I mean I've beaten it before, but over days.
I'm usually able to beat it in around 15 minutes.
Single Barrel Shotgun > Double Barrel Shotgun
Single is faster and more accurate. Double is only good for clearing rooms and big enemies.
Wulfen Texture Pack
And the source has been recently released, so imagine the possibilities.
Double is only good for clearing rooms and big enemies.
which is what you frequently find
Pinky demons are really the only thing that the DB is worth using on. Hell Knights you should use rockets or the gattling gun on, caco demons are fine with the SB but the DB does work, using the DB on imps is wasteful same with zombies, behemoths are easier killed with rockets or the gattling gun.
We should have a FP deathmatch / coop thingie. Would be pretty awesome if you ask me
I find that I'm able to host on Skulltag most of the time, otherwise there's just port errors. Pick a map and a time and I'll see.
Don't use Skulltag, use Odamex instead. It's much easier to host a server on there.
Is anyone willing to set up a Facepunch server?
I would, but my connection is terrible. My apologies.
I still play Doom every few days. The game blows my mind. Most modern games sacrifice the amount of enemies Doom can have on screen for better graphics, which is a damn shame. One of my favourite map packs is an invasion set for Skulltag called Delta Invasion. It's a god damn shitstorm.
As for mods that I've really enjoyed:
-Stronghold
-Brutal Doom
-Shotgun Frenzy
-Real Guns Advanced
I think anyone wishing to really strike a hit with a modern game needs to release a game that is as action oriented as Doom that retains the modding ability of the game. Too many games these days can't be modded and it is a damn shame. Doom has so many years of content underneath it... damn man, I bought that shit when I was a kid and aside from maybe Tribes, it is the only game I'd buy twice.
How do I get Skulltag to work on singleplayer? I played it before at a friends house and the graphics were all nice and updated (still the original doom style but not as pixley, cleaned up a bit) and I really want that. I have the steam version.

Find the .wad file, then download Brutal Doom, then open it up with GZDoom
Snip
For quite good mods you could go look at the Doomworld Cacowards, essentially the "best of" of each year
Fuck you. Now i have to boot up my ZDaemon server.
But yeah. I'll host a ZDaemon server on/off for FP if anyone wants.

That would be awesome.
I tried to complete "Knee Deep..." on Nightmare with only a keyboard (like a real man, no mouse) and got only a little longer than halfway through, still have nightmares about it.
I think my record is like the fifth stage. And I have been trying for several years...
Getting that far with no mouse? Holy crap!

Fuck yes, I'll put the name/address of the server in the OP once it's up.

Oh hey, it's my mother!
[editline]doom3[/editline]
I think Doom 3 was a pretty good game, not a good Doom game but still.
My favourite mod is Dungeon Doom, a mod which turns Doom 3 into a dungeon crawler similar to a roguelike with randomly generated dungeons and such.
http://www.moddb.com/mods/dungeondoom
Another good mod is Last Man Standing, despite the name, it's a Coop mod

Ugh, I wish I had a faster internet connection. I've never had the patience to download Doom 3 mods above 100MB.

Pretty cool randomizer mod that takes enemies and weapons from a bunch for classic FPS games and mashes them together.
Okay, I was just playing Doom II and got to the pit part of The Gauntlet. I died for no reason, but there was this predator-esque invisible thing. Wha

Aeons of Death is pretty fucking amazing. If you want a good, long lasting mod, get this one. It's intense and probably one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had playing Doom in a long time.
In related news, I've started playing ZDaemon again and it's proven itself to be tons more fun than Skulltag has ever been. Nothing against Skulltag, but if I want some classic Doom deathmatch, I'll look to ZDaemon.

Was it this?
Spectre's are so much easier to see in OpenGL ports of Doom rather than the original, software versions. Makes the game really easy unfortunately.

Yes it was a Spectre, thank you, I totally forgot about them.
Twas annoying, killed me the moment I got the chaingun.
