• Doom Series V2 - Knee Deep in the Thread

My main gripe with Doom 64 is the monster sprites seeming a bit awkward nowadays. They're creepier than the originals, no doubt, but the pixel and digitized works of the original monsters aged better than the 3D-to-sprite renders.

I had Doom on the playstation, it was pretty eerie. Different sound effects and music. Though I agree the Doom 64 sprites look a bit off.

Surprised nobody posted about it, but Brutal Doom 19 is out.

I haven't seen anyone post the Beyond Hell and Earth mappack yet - it was released alongside Brutal Doom v19 (and also requires it). It is currently unfinished with 13 large maps - took me around 3 and a half hours to finish so it is a pretty lengthy play. The maps themselves are all pretty darn cool, aswell. I remember once I was playing with a bunch of dudes and this one map had a switch you had too shoot. Everyone thought the map was bugged or something so the admin reloaded it. We were about to skip it until I shot the button in a moment of boredom.
Reminds me of that one glitch an earlier version of Brutal Doom had when having taunts anger monsters was added. Since it counted as an invisible projectile, walls or switches you could shoot to open would open from being told to go fuck themselves. :v:
Follow up on that Sikkmod quesiton, are there any mods similar to it? I know about Perfected Doom 3, though it sounded like there were mixed opinions on it.

Brutal Doom, best way to take care of Hell Knights/Barons. Run up to them, kick them in the groin and blow their head off when they're down.
For those that are playing Brutal Doom - Beyond Hell and Earth (the BYHAE.wad), when you start the game, open console and type in "infighting 0." By default, the author has it set to -1 so that monsters ignore each other. Considering how much he likes near slaughter-esque amounts of monsters, I prefer having infighting than no infighting.

Sometimes you can almost take down a whole room without a shot.
I couldn't imagine playing Doom or Quake without infighting That's like, half the fun

I liked the old 1.0 infighting where monsters would attack themselves if they blew up a barrel.

blows my mind this thread exists it's so successful that 20 years later it's [B]still [/B]a topic that gets readily discussed. Such a broadly perfect example of why a modding community will immortalize a game.
