Eh, the dead bodies are obstacles for some reason and you don't have any lifes, so when you die is necessary to restart. Weird
You must have ran it wrong. None of that is happening to me. Use the BAT files included in the download, do not drag and drop it onto GZDoom/ZDoom.

Hey, remenber the HUD i posted earlier? Founded a download link, it comes with a fix too http://imgur.com/a/RPW26#1
Has anyone had any luck getting DoomRL to run on Windows 8.1? Whenever I try to run it, I just get the command box and nothing else. And when I try to run it as Admin, I get a "File not open" error. I never got the chance to do a proper playthrough of this, and now I'm bummed that it doesn't seem to want to work for me.
Messing around with model stuff in doom 3. I've never played with idtech before so i figured i'd give it a shot. [img_thumb]http://i.cubeupload.com/XEowFE.jpg[/img_thumb]
Is it easy to mod/use mods on the older Doom games that I have on steam?
If you mean doom 1 and doom 2 on steam, then yes. It's just as easy as a normal one. You simply download a doom sourceport ( ZDoom for example), take the .wad file from the installed game on steam and put it into the same folder as your sourceport. Afterwards just look into how to load mods for your sourceport.

How is Doom 3 scary? Aside from occasional jumps, it's not scary at all.
The 'scariest' parts of Doom 3 were only very specific spots, and the game relied too much on jump scares and monster closets / teleports around and behind you to throw you off. It doesn't help that the infamous Imps near-always decide to stand still and let out a loud screech to tell you they're there, making most people pull out the shotgun and blow them away mid-screech. And they do this all game long.
For me the game only becomes scary when I'm running around with less than 20 health. Then you just become paranoid.
How to play Doom 3: 1. kill enemy(s) in front of you 2. Kill imp(s) that spawned behind you 3. Repeat until game is finished jokes aside [sp]not a joke, it's completely true[/sp] I like doom 3
What about those Cherubs? Is that one of the scary factors?
What about those Cherubs? Is that one of the scary factors?
It's a little creepy when they first pop up, but once you've heard the death cry, they get really annoying instead. Trites scare me more, and mainly because they're giant spiders that are so fucking numerous whenever you fight them most of the time.
Yeah also the way trites jump too. It's mostly that they are spiders though for me, I had trouble with the Dark Messiah spiders too. IMO Doom 3 starts out strong scare-wise because it has really good ambience despite the jump scares, but the more you play the more it wears off, given how often they try to use the same "scare" tactics. Despite that it's okay because Doom 3 is a pretty fun game - and that fun increases exponentially in coop.
You have to admit though, that the mirror scare was quite mean, even if it was just a poor jump scare.
in Doom 3 you are shown without a helmet a lot of the time. Yes? Yes. how do you walk on the surface of Mars?
Judging by how the Marine has problems breathing while the oxygen meter runs down, presumably he's either trying to hold his breath (and failing) or rapidly expending what air he has in his system. It doesn't make much sense why some parts of the base require walking outside to get around or why there's a bunch of air canisters just conveniently lying around that he can grab to instantly refill his oxygen. File it under game logic.
This is coming from very blurry memory but isn't Mars in Doom 3 colonized in a way that the atmosphere is there but very thin?
This is coming from very blurry memory but isn't Mars in Doom 3 colonized in a way that the atmosphere is there but very thin?

The environment of Doom 3 is generally much more realistic. For example, whereas the original Doom gives the two moons breathable atmospheres, Doom 3's Martian atmosphere is unbreathable (although oxygen tanks allow the player to breathe for a brief time),
http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Doom_3 No oxygen on the surface of mars but UAC was trying to terraform the planet through terraforming facilities in Alpha Labs to make it suitable for human life.
Why did Doom 3 even switch to Mars instead of the moons? I'd like to see Deimos floating in hell.
I hope Doom 4 either does the Doom 1/2 route of running, gunning and RIP AND TEAR; or if it must flirt with horror, that it does it better than Doom 3 did.

Rip and tear all the way.
First DOOM was fucking perfect they just drop you there and gives you a pistol, literally a way to say "ok here's a gun your job is to kill all baddies" while doing so in clever levels.
First DOOM was fucking perfect they just drop you there and gives you a pistol, literally a way to say "ok here's a gun your job is to kill all baddies" while doing so in clever levels.
If I remember correctly, Doom made the game first and THEN the back-story. In doom four, if they have a plot it should be almost completely separate from the player, have flashbacks to before shit hit the fan, show short cutscenes of other people feeling the brunt of the new and upcoming enemy but the player should be not directly involved, as in the person at the keyboard is the doom marine, not LT. Grease or some other shit like that.
I really hope doom 4 is doom 2. I want massively sprawling city levels fighting tons of demons with hellish skies something kinda like this but with open ended level design And the classic weapons. I don't give a shit if it isn't done anymore, I want them to center the weapons

THe doomguy was never not aiming down the sight. Secondly, I don't care if the guns are off to the left if I can still run and gun like ye olde days of glory.
Reloading is fine... but DO include some weapons that do not need reloading, so long as the chaingun or the plasma gun has a clip as large as your ammo pool, them I'm ok. We need one guy that's not the BFG you save for special occasions, to pull out when shit has hit the fan and everything in the room needs to die... dakka dakka..... However everything else, the pistol the assault rife, the shotgun, the sniper type weapon can have a reload. ESPECIALLY the shotgun, it should be the careful timed blows weapon, every strike calculated to do the most damage as possible and it should reward you for it. To quote world renowned author Terry Pratchett. "Over the centuries, mankind has tried many ways of combating the forces of evil... prayer, fasting, good works and so on. Up until Doom, no one seemed to have thought about the double-barrel shotgun. Eat leaden death, demon..." In my head, the shotgun is THE doom weapon, it's mankind's ingenuity applied to the situation at hand. "The trick to killing impomaniacs* is to shotgun them to the glowing tumours in their belly." *impomanicas demon type copyright and left guyon 2014.
Technically, Doom did have reloading, even if it was just to balance the DBS Also, I want coop. I really don't care if it doesn't fit the story, Doom 1, 2 and 3 in Co-op were some of the most fun I've ever had
I want Brutal doom gore but reduced a bit. No fatalities, just dismemberments and head explosions
and lots of BLOOOOOD
