Ta da. I've also gotten it to fire Cacodemon balls. I also intend to add some kind of splash damage. Ideally I'd like to make a short set of levels where you play as an imp. A lot of it will probably just end up being sprite replacements with very little custom coding going on.
If you intend to make something serious out of it, have upgrades and such like the ability to cast lightning bolts. That'd be fucking amazing.
I'm mostly concerned about what's going to happen with the other two potential episodes of Wrack. The game as it is is pretty awesome, but it's also fairly sparse content-wise.

I'm not sure, I gave it a try but didn't do much in it, and it did not crash.
People are doing cool things with it (there's a guy porting over the Quake levels) so i'd assume it's working fine

I just discovered A_RailAttack, there's a part of it that lets me define a sprite rather than the particles so I'm playing around with that. Though I don't know how to skip over some of the values in it.
In A_RailAttack I can set stuff like damage, offsets, particle color and all that, but the part where I actually define a sprite to use is after a bunch of other things that I think I'd have to define even though I don't want to.
I also thought about using "rockets" where I'd have to make a lightningy looking trail sprite, but I've been reading through the ZDoom wiki and can't find anything on making trails. Really my biggest setback is my inability to do art. The stuff mathematically behaves how I intend it, I'm just shit at making it look the way I want it to. Everything I've done thus far has been using the fists. (It's also some mild confusion on sprite orientation. Making a weapon sprite doesn't seem to be a major challenge, it's when I'll have to make a "3D" object and I have to try and draw the same object from different angles. I sorta get it, but not as much as I'd like to.)

It's been awhile since I've messed with it but I'm reasonably sure the beat releases or nightly releases or whatever they call them actually have included betas of the map editor at points. They just haven't updated the stable release in quite awhile last I checked.

Well. yes it does actually. Blaz currently has a wand that transforms into a staff in v0.9 that has a swirling vortex spell.
In the version to come, like v0.9.1 (something like that, I don't know how version names work), that spell along with several other will be removed from Blaz's inventory, along with the wand/staff, being replaced with that arm cannon.
Future versions will have other playable characters and the vortex spell will be making a come back with the third character.
I've been mapping for DooM 3 for about a week now, after a long, long break. Everything went fine until now, when the editor seems to of broken itself.
Whenever I add [U]any[/U] entity under the [I]trigger[/I] category, it just disappears after deselecting it. [I][B]Poof.[/B][/I]
I thought the editor was just fucking like usual, but after restarting it, and even my computer, the problem wont go away!

Actually the sounds in that video are from the second Juarssic park game for the SNES, Megaman X, Demon's Crest, OoT, and ALttP.

That chain weapon reminds me of Hexen 2 a bit.
Hexen 2 had this really cool weapon that would shoot chains from random places around the enemy towards him and they would latch on, lift the enemy up, and rip him apart. I kinda feel like that would fit in with some of the stuff in your mod.

Hexen 2's weapons are rad as fuck in design and I wish they had used sprites for them because I would have been all over them in an instant.
Finally. After 2 ongoing days of turning my house upside down, I finally managed to find my original discs! Looks like my life isn't over yet.

I think i saw mods using some hexen 2 sprites a couple times. I'll see if I can dig it up.
