I could drop this here, in case someone likes to see. Me and my friend playing doom, and we made this "mini-vid" series. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLm2ef5dApasW1-RzM-cLFayHqBNbUoBl6
We'll hear about it anyway.
Well, I just so happen to be attending Quakecon since I live in the area. I'll be able to fill you all in on the reveal details, assuming I'm not put under NDA.
Been playing Sneaky Doom (http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=46174) lately and it's pretty cool. It's got an actual stealth system based around light, with silenced weapons, sneak attacks, footsteps, and AI for the monsters to search for you. It was fun trying to sneak through the Brutalized E2M1 as far as I could before they finally cornered me and took me down.
Been playing Sneaky Doom (http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=46174)
Taggart, try to remember the basics of RIP AND TEAR.
doomRPG with doomRL Arsenal is some of the most fun shit to play especially on wads like speed of doom and the like
Hey is there any cool sci-fi wads based around new guns and exploring?
I don't know any off hand that have good exploration. There are some good Aliens ones, but the Sci-Fi trope goes all over the place. I.... really feel emasculated in a Doom-sense that I can't recall any off the top of my head. In pittance, here's Stardate, which is really pretty, turns slaughter-map very fast, and very purple with some space-ness. It's kinda linear, so there's not much exploration. [t]http://i.imgur.com/tKg60uFl.jpg[/t] And Stronghold, which has you planet hopping in a wave-based defense mode which gets progressively harder. It's wave based, so your exploration is really more about exploring the extreme number of levels. [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/24/23636/str05.jpg[/t] I feel like I need to make a big compilation of good wads with images and genres. There's so many.
Hey is there any cool sci-fi wads based around new guns and exploring?
The Zdoom Community Map Project 2 might be right up your alley, though more in line with traditional Doom than ultra sci-fi. Big-ass level with lots of new guns and plenty of exploration though--as in it takes upwards of two hours to complete. As for vanilla, I can't really say.
Hey is there any cool sci-fi wads based around new guns and exploring?
Winter's Fury is a neat miniwad. It's quite literally "cool sci-fi" (pun) thematically, and the creators put a lot of effort into making a cinematic Doom experience. Download Link I'm sure most Doom fanatics know about Knee Deep in ZDoom but just in case: it's a total recreation of Ultimate Doom's first episode done using every trick and technical prowess that ZDoom has to offer. It's damn beautiful too, and comes with plenty of new monsters to boot. Every map has been ultra-expanded to give it a bit of exploration and longevity, but as far as new weapons go, they try to stick with simplicity as it is technically the first chapter of the original Doom. On a completely different note, I discovered this. It's actually pretty fun, and something new for once: It's more or less a melding between Super Mario 64 and Doom, with a hub-world, level objectives, and just an absolutely whimsical setting.
the gameplay of the Golden Souls bothers me because the weapons feel kinda wimpy and ammo can be lacking at times. Not to mention putting those shithead flowers in the first level is a grade A dick move. Pelting those things with the pistol is aggravating. I feel it wouldn't be so bad if the creator at least gave the player infinite reloads with their pistol, because then you'd always have something to fall back on Edit: That being said, I do love the levels and music, it definitely pulls off a "What if Doom was like Mario game" really well.
Is there a way I can combine brutal doom with say, doomRL arsenal into one exe? Same with WADs etc
Is there a way I can combine brutal doom with say, doomRL arsenal into one exe? Same with WADs etc
http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=32596
I believe compatibility between the DoomRL/DoomRPG family of mods is no longer in the interests of the developers of DoomRL and DoomRPG due to the codebase and community behind Brutal Doom. DoomRPG did once support Brutal Doom. Your current answer is - it's not going to happen anytime soon.
I think the best way to sum it up is, "If it doesn't explicitly say it's compatible with Brutal Doom, it's not, don't ask."
Well, everything is compatible with Brutal Doom. As long as it doesn't modify the weapons/monsters in any way. Feel free to drop needless sound mods, brightmaps, and actual maps in with it. And as long as the map doesn't require extensive special scripts revolving around the stock item/monster/player classes. But combining two mods that do something similar (maps/monsters/weapons/player class/etc) together without an implicit patch/note that they're compatible, it won't work. Besides, qstylezx.pk3 is where it's at. I use it as religiously for vanilla map packs as some people cling to Brutal Doom.
So....I just finished Doom64.EXE, and I gotta say this is my favorite Doom yet I'll try Doom 2 later but for now i'm gonna try and finish each of the levels with a 100% completion, I just feel like I have to
So I finally got around to trying Russian Overkill, that's the first time playing Doom has ever managed to make me motion sick :v:
So I finally got around to trying Russian Overkill, that's the first time playing Doom has ever managed to make me motion sick :v:
Play Russian Overkill with Brutalized Doom. You won't regret it.
I remember there being a drawing of doom which had 2-4 marines going "FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK" I can't seem to find it. If anyone has it saved could you post it here or PM it to me?

Is he punching TotalBiscuit? Jinkies.
Huh, I never thought Power Rangers in the Doom universe was a thing
brutal_doom_coop.jpg
More like companions in Brutal.
Doom 4 announcement is coming, RPS is updating this article. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/07/18/doooooooooooooom/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+RockPaperShotgun+%28Rock%2C+Paper%2C+Shotgun%29
What a kick in the teeth that stream was... [editline]17th July 2014[/editline]
Update 666: Trailer of monsters, “unholy fusion of flesh and metal.” They look pretty Pacific Rim like, which makes sense given that they have one of the movie’s main artists on it. Trailer ends with a shotgun loading sound. Pretty insubstantial. There will be slimy, ugly monsters. Not even sure if that was in-engine.
Never mind, didn't miss a thing.
So nothing but a cocktease trailer with no gameplay.
So nothing but a cocktease trailer with no gameplay.
I dunno how many people go to Quakecon on a yearly basis, but I know quite a few probably went this year due to the new DOOM. If overall there's very little revealed, not even proper gameplay, people are going to be piiiiissed.
