Does anyone know of any good Wolfenstein themed map packs? I've been playing around with Nazis V2 and it just doesn't feel right with the standard Doom maps.
Epic 2 isn't strictly Wolfenstein but it gives off a heavy Indiana Jones feel and it's really fitting; there's also WolfenDoom but I'm not sure how compatible it is.

Here is a whole site of em
http://www.wolfenstein3d.co.uk/adds_DOOM2.htm
and http://www.moddb.com/mods/wolfendoom
Not entirely sure if they are compatible with Nazis V2 though, haven't had time to test it myself yet.
Just finished reading Masters of Doom, fuck that was good.
Get it if you haven't already, super interesting and exciting to read.
Time for some daily content.

I want to see how you throw nades while holding a BFG.

Throw the BFG instead.
Throw the BFG instead.
That could be interesting if he threw a plasma cell that was rigged to blow.

Throwables based on your current weapon? Sounds fun.
Hm...
Fists - military knife.
Chainsaw - 3 butterfly knifes, chainsaw - only under the berserk medkit effect.
Pistol/Assault Rifle - flashbang (blinded enemies can't attack for 2-3sec).
Shotty/Double barrel - shrapnel grenade (medium damage but huge blast radius).
Minigun/Chaingun - normal grenade.
Rocket Launcher - mortar shell (low blast radius but high damage).
Plasma Gun - unstable plasma cell (same as shotty but instead of shrapnel releases a plasma shots).
BFG - green colored plasma cell if <500 ammo, overcharged BFG dealing insane green nuke at 500+ ammo.
Does anyone know how to make sounds not stack in GZDoom?
Every time there's a wall closet trap with more than one Revenant I die of a heart attack.

When you play as many slaughter maps as I do, abrupt and loud monster sounds no longer scare you.
Unless it's one of those levels that's all nice and compact, and abruptly half an hour in there's a monster closet with 50+ of a single thing that screams death in your ear. :v:
[sp]For some reason, it's Pinkies that do it in for me. A single one? Not scary. A bunch I'm expecting? Nah. A sudden running-of-the-bulls map with 800 of them and a sound that nearly vibrated my headphones off of grumbly anger? god damn.[/sp]

Yeah, it's an entire megawad of those.
Yeah, it's an entire megawad of those.
Unfortunately, I've never heard of a fix for that. Usually it's up to the mapper to handle the monster activation in a way that isn't really loud. I keep Doom somewhat quiet though. Sorry I can't help.
I don't know what changed in my configuration because I didn't notice it very much until now, it's weird.
It's awesome when it's an army of Cyberdemons though.
You could try that option that varies the pitch of sounds, I think you can do it in ZDoom and GzDoom. It might split it up a little so it's not a synched noise.
I want to see how you throw nades while holding a BFG.
BFG is going to throw and melee slower, its not really believable to throw it quickly (it would just look bad) and I think it balances out the fact you have the kill everything weapon in your hands.
Honestly its something I been thinking about how to go around, I'll figure it out when its time.

Its a neat idea, but I was just going for regular grenades, like as part of your actual inventory (like halo or well any modern game). Though I'm going to look into various types (probably only up to 3 or 4. Don't want it to get cluttered). That really is a spiffy ass idea though

if the bfg makes you melee slower/throw grenades slower id just switch weapon and throw the nade there instead
That's true of any weapon, though. Sometimes you just don't have time to switch, or don't think of it.

Not really a problem though, I fully expect players to do exploits or little tricks like this. While I intend on a balanced game where at-least I personally wouldn't do that, I'm fully okay with players doing it. (Tons of games have this sort of design going on)
I might be making Doom more modernized, but the old-school idea of letting the player do what they want? I'm still keeping that. As long as players have fun and enjoy what I've created, I won't care how you've gone through it. If you can somehow grenade jump too? congrats, I won't be "fixing" it unless it really creates a huge problem. Just like old-school games, the answer you devise will always be correct.

I might make the BFG slower to switch to and from, it sounds insane but I'm changing up a lot about the gameplay and weapons like the BFG are going to become a lot more badass than they already were, I think those kinds of things are fair for a power weapon.
Honestly, its sort of iterative development. We'll see what works and what doesn't.

just dont make the bfg a high power plasma rifle

Had its original mode planned, probably with a charge like Doom 3, beyond that I was thinking the insane sexy disco go fuck yourself from the beta, possibly a huge wide beam.
I mean honestly, there is tons of shit I can do, it just comes back to if its useful/different from the original mode and if its fun. I have no problem testing out these ideas, no matter how insane they sound.
[editline]28th July 2014[/editline]
Shit that reminds me, you will hate/love the new Plasma Rifle modes.
:quagmire: Its like a mini-power weapon

If I recall correctly in ZDoom/GZDoom/Skulltag/Zandronum you can set a limit for max amount of sounds playable at once. If you lowered that it should help but on the flip side it might cut off sounds you actually want as well.

Don't think it would help with two pissed off skeletons screaming right on my ear unless I set the limit to 1 though and that's gonna block everything else.

This wad should really stop doing this. :(
You could always change the revenants alert sound in SLADE if you wanted to.
Inspiration has struck me like a bolt of fucking lightning.
Okay so I've been planning on adding a simple combo attack for Blaz's sword for awhile now, I've decided to take steps in implementing this right now, the combo isn't final, I'm just testing the waters here:
[vid]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8380892/WEbms/I think I might be onto something here.webm[/vid]
and I've decided to give the sword a charge attack where you throw it like a boomerang, originally I wasn't sure how I want it to behave after you throw it at max charge so I decided to just rig up a simple animation and use the boomerang subweapon as placeholder stuff, then I wound up making this by accident:
[vid]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8380892/WEbms/now THIS is interesting.webm[/vid]
Now picture this: You throw the sword and punch monsters while it flies around, dodging your own sword to keep it flying around, shredding shit up, TAG TEAMING MONSTERS WITH YOUR OWN WEAPON.
If that isn't rad as hell I don't know what is
Those ideas are literally amazing, holy shit.
I could have sworn I've played games with dodging your own weapon like that, pretty badass to see that implemented here.
May be late but if not

i really liked the hand drawn animation
developing further on combo things now:

This is badass
Tried playing WolfenDoom with Nazis. Didn't really work out, the WolfenDoom wads utilize a lot of DeHackEd editing to add sprite decorations and such things. The deh patch doesn't seem to agree with Nazis.
Operation Rheingold has a yellow key right in the first room instead of a dead body, for example.

What Nazis does work with however is Heretic. It's pretty fun running around shooting golems and wizards with a Gehwehr. :v:
