It's a shame because WolfenDoom has some really nice maps, Nazis would be perfect for it ...except for Astrostein I guess.
Actually, I just did a little testing with Nazis and the official games.
Heretic works perfectly really, besides some ammo issues (You never really have enough ammo for stuff like the Gehwehr but Shotgun ammo is everywhere).
Hexen works mostly ok except I never found any ammo so I was just smacking Ettins with a shovel until I died.
Strife mostly works, but the guards never stop being hostile, so it's really hard to get anywhere since everyone's trying to kill you constantly.
Hacx works, and actually replaces the enemies, which I didn't expect. I guess Hacx really is that much of a straight reskin. :v:
I also tried Action Doom 2, which just led to more shoveling faces. Kinda fun, though.
You know, you reminded me, a long time ago I wanted to make a HacX Redux.

Just another small content update. Agoat (who I am not sure if he posts here) has mentioned to me about using Doom 64 sprites.
Now, I love Doom 64, but to me its a different beast from Doom 1/2. I definitely want a project for it, but that's going to take quite awhile. But it got me inspired, so I cooked this up in like 10-20 minutes just now.
The Shotgunner reused the normal soldier sprite, so I decided to recreate him as he was in Doom 1/2.

Not my finest work and needs a lot of polishing (I plan on doing the entire sheet and releasing it) but; it shows promise. Forehead shading really sucks though, but its a rough draft; not a release.

Another small content update, this time going back to the actual Doom 2 mod.
I'm working on tons of alternative deaths for enemies. IF my plan works, different weapons will have their own unique pool of random death animations to play. So like, pistols might have 5 and shotguns might have 5, etc etc.
Right now here is one I made for the Shotgunner, his entire head explodes and skull/brain fragments fly everywhere, its intended for a shotgun kill.

I tried a few levels from Plutonia Experiment just now, and I've got to admit that they're pretty damn nice. Although the setting is a bit quake-like to me, the level design itself is closer to doom 1 then 2, which is in my opinion a good thing.
My only issue is the way some new unique level elements appear without any proper introduction. Like, take this invisible bridge as an instance:

A lot of slaughter WADS seem to have really fun level design, but intense monster count, and I'm not a fan of slaughter WADS (I play Doom on Ultra Violence though). Were there any "easy" versions of slaughter WADS released, such as Hell Revealed or Scythe 2?

Play them with 10x.wad trust me I'm a doom person.
[sp]I recommend finding a mod that gives you hilariously overpowered weapons or something and enjoy them like that - if you're just in it for the architecture. Russian Overkill is a good start.[/sp]

I've never got this combo to work out well for me. Maybe there's some doomrl mechanics I'm not getting but I could never pick up purple tier equipment if DoomRPG is on too. I know you can only carry 6 weapons, and 1 spare armor and boots but dropping guns didn't make any difference. Also mods wouldn't work either - every single mod on every gun just threw "this gun cannot support this mod" even when I had assembly recipies saying otherwise
However I have noticed on RPG 0.9.11 the character save doesn't work if extras isn't loaded (compatibility error on load), so I'm running that too. Maybe that's modifying the weapons and causing these issues for me.
I was never able to get into Russian Overkill, it felt really clunky. Though to be fair, I didn't try too hard.

If you have no faith in yourself, then all you have to do is shoot the computer to activate the guide markers for non-believers.

Nothing tells you that you have to shoot the computer to do that though.
Edit: Literally, there's nothing that explains or shows that there are two posts hidden there or that shooting the computer will even do anything. It just looks like ground.
Admittedly, you could find out that there's a bridge there by shooting, that's actually how I first figured it out. It wasn't until I crossed the bridge that I thought to shot the pc after pressing use on everything.
Marphy, I know you think you're just the best thing ever, but this is honestly a case of bad game and level design. The one thing they could have done is have the top of the posts be a different color, and stick a zombie guy/shotgun guy/imp in the alcove with the pc, so that when the player goes to shoot the monster, there's a possibility that they'll hit the computer. And if not, the fact that there's 2 oddly colored spots on the ground would be enough to clue in the player anyway.
