Stronghold gets boring as shit after only a short while so I kinda agree although it looks pretty and epic, the epicness is only used to hide how insanely generic it actually is (or maybe it feels generic because it tries to be epic). I tend to go to Shotgun Frenzy for my coop fix, mainly because the maps aren't just the same thing over and over, they have a few gimmicks in them, which makes them much more replayable for me.
For people who like gameplay mods, [url=http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=29815]Nazis V2[/url] is one I've been playing for a while, I think it's really good, it's not ludicrously violent like BrutalDoom but it has this really modern, fresh feel to it.
Another cool mod is [url=http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=31490]Reelism[/url]. It's kinda like a game show where the producers did too much crack and decided to hang the contestant's life on a slot machine that's more bipolar than a pregnant woman on steroids.

So I decided to play some Doom 3, with the duct tape mod, and get the furthest I ever have in one night on my own than I had in years. The mod really makes the game a bit more manageable, albeit killing the darkness gimmick of many parts. But seriously, every time I open a door or hear a sound, I almost always know where the enemies are gonna jump from. It's so damn predictable it's not even funny.
"Oh, what's that? I hear the teleport and an imp scream but it's not infront of me? It couldn't possibly be behind me!" Turn around, swerve around an easily-dodgeable fireball, shotgun it in the face.

Is there a way to specify that I want to use Skulltag to connect, and not Zandronum? (the port type says Zandronum)

You should just be able to change the engine it connects with to Skulltag in the custom server thinge

It is the non-canon sequel to Action Doom and is a heavily Sin City inspired hand drawn comic brawler in the style of double dragon where you have to rescue your abducted daughter. Holy shit, not bad at all. I keep seeing people try to do these kinds of projects but then they go silent, so here's hoping good luck to you.
Finished Doom 3 today with the Perfected Doom 3 mod. I'm not really sure what to think; it's a solid title, of sorts, even without the mod. But there's so many niggling annoyances, like how the first half of the game before Hell loves pitch-black areas you can't see shit in without flashlight switching as we all know (the second half ironically tones this down for the most part), leaping enemies like the imps or cherubs are essentially unavoidable unless you shoot them first or have something like a doorway's edge to block their goddamn homing leaps, shooting out Revenant rockets tending to not work and thus taking lots of cheap damage in really tight corridors...
And with the Perfected mod making the monsters harder, adding new ones like near-invisible Imps and Pain Elementals, and so on, it just makes some parts so much more frustrating. It's like a linear path full of backtracking with lots of near unavoidable damage since so much of the combat takes place in tight corridors, and the second half of the game [i]swarms[/i] you with multiple enemy types after how lenient and predictable the first half was.

Nazis V2 is a gameplay mod, kinda like Brutal Doom. It's compatible with every Doom Map Pack but doesn't come with any maps.
I recommend using Epic 2 with the mod.

I love the Doom 64 levels. The greater focus on ambience and creepiness is great. I wish there was a way to play through the levels in GZDoom with BD or something. Are there any WADs out there that are just the D64 levels?
There are, but not very many since DOOM 64 Builder is relatively new and it takes a bit more time to make levels due to having to adjust the color and brightness of every floor, ceiling and wall since all of Doom 64's raw textures are actually grey.

I remember seeing a few wads about that put in the new levels, monsters, weapons and sounds, but they varied wildly in quality. I dunno where to find them, but then i'm bad at finding wads to begin with.
I remember playing a Doom 64 conversion many many years ago; was pretty good quality. But I cannot for the life of me remember it's name, location, source port or anything :/
