I beg to differ. People have seen your animations and they think they're great. I don't think most of the folks over there care much about modernization as long as you keep the spirit of Doom alive. Because Project MSX has a shitload of modern features but the gameplay is still Doom, only faster and far more chaotic, people fucking love it, including myself

Honestly I said what I did in a fairly joking manner, I don't care if anything I do stirs shit up, but thanks for the kind words; to make it pretty frank though, yeah my plans include a lot of modernization.

Played it, like the changes, the shotgun is AWESOME, not quite a fan of the lack of auto-fire for the daggers (it is what made them so unique to the other weapons. The whole be up close and stun-lock a single foe made them really nice for earily maps. Now it's a little too much like the Lance), the ability to turn on/off the custom music, and the fact that human enemies no longer drop items kinda sucks tho. It's weird, but I really do miss that.
Of course, since it's literally just "dropitem" "name" "rng number", it's really easy to open up SLADE and re-add it from an older version. :v:
Edit: Annnd as I type this I have no idea where you put the drop tables for the zombieman, commando, shotgun guy. Darn.

Actually, it seems that only the Black Viper (Commando replacement) drops items, the other 2 do not.
The Vipers are fucking terrifying when there's more than one of them. Twitchy fuckers. I mean, they don't hurt a [I]lot[/I], they're just so damn spazzy. Don't change that, that's more of a good thing. Good balance for them having projectiles instead of hitscan.
Now I'm really, [I]really[/I] curious as to what you have in store for the rest of bestiary, especially the Arch-vile and the 2 bosses.

Actually, giving the Lances auto-fire would make them a bit too strong.
To give an idea of how strong they are, they were the weapon of choice for about 18 or so maps of Chillax, and not once did I need to switch weapons. Though, it was moreso about Missile abuse/Bomb abuse and copious amounts of Shining Knight. And lance spam. And a lot of use of the gauntlet's utilities. But mostly missile and rocket lance spam. And that's something like 20k monsters that it slaughtered.
Dagger's have routinely been the cheap, spammable weapon, and it pretty much excelled at that. It wasn't terribly strong, but it was plenty good for stunlock and regenning sword mana. All the other weapons sucked at sword mana compared to that, which made for a nice trade-off (lower damage and range in return for spamming and easy sword mana regen) As it is, it's a weird hybrid of old Daggers and Lance, but with half the lances range and slightly less damage, and an awful, awful lot of clicking.
EDIT: HOLY SHIT DID YOU EVER IMPROVE THE SCATTERSHOT, I FRIGGIN' ONESHOT A MASTERMIND.

You do kinda need to pointblank the spider though, which makes this about as powerful as a pointblank BFG9000 shot. It gets considerably weaker the further you are from a monster, unlike the BFG9000, and it lacks the coverage. And considering that you're gonna do replacements, I'd hold off on nerfing till those guys are done. The vanilla Doom bestiary is kinda weak for this, and balancing for vanilla monsters doesn't make that much sense at this point. I mean, it's actually as powerful as the other spells now, since it trades coverage for sheer firepower. I mean, I can actually get some health off of the Archers now (zombieman replacement), whereas one powered gauntlet shot would kill a zombieman.
Edit: yeah, I noticed that, it kinda makes the lances the old daggers, but with waaaaaay more power. Kinda weird how you did that.
You might be right about that. There's going to be a few monsters that will have ripper resist, like what I got planned for the new fatsos.
I got the weapons. I got the gameplay. Now I need the monsters.
Okay that and the additional playable characters, new power ups, and a few other surprises but you get my point

You can technically do that with the Warding Shield sub-weapon, but the reflected projectiles move very, very slowly. They do hurt monsters, albeit not for much.

It could also stand to be a bit deeper/warped too, you can still kinda tell who the source is.

Part of me wants to make all the weapon sounds HQ, but I dunno what I'm gonna do with the sword's sub-weapons, as some of them sound nice as is. The spells could be an explosion, tho, again, dunno which ones to use.

I don't think that joke wad's are necessarily supposed to be playable.
the best jokewads are turbocharged arcade 1 and 2
Mock2 is decent as far as playable jokewads go. Though the all Cyberdemon and all Cacodemon maps can get incredibly laggy, especially under GZDoom with the RPG and RL mods.
