cool WAD
I can't see shit on that image
-snip, quoted it instead-
I bought Strife on Steam and already having problems. There's forced mouse acceleration you can't turn off (setting to zero makes your mouse simply not move) and I'm getting some sort of microstutter too, it really doesn't feel smooth compared to ZDoom.

Music is also different from what I remember
Dat High-Res mode.

I hope it includes this when starting it up.

It does include the video upon starting the game!
Besides mouse problems, I actually find the options quite well done. Everything is commented, even the graphics options. You can't say that about most newer games.
Also, the voice acting in Strife is just awesome. And the music sounds more vibrant than in Zdoom, you can also switch to OPL.
Does anyone know if there's a good way to emulate the Doom RPG phone game? I've heard it was good.

Old phone games used .jar files right? Any Java emulator should work.

That game was the shit. I played the shit out of it during classes. Gets hectic at later levels though. But still a awesome timewaster.
Romero went on a binge of art assets from Doom's development on his Twitter in celebration it seems. Includes the original mass projectile-spewing BFG sprites!

Edit: you fixed it before I managed to post

I just wish I could find it. I have an Android phone so I'm not sure if there's any way to get it.

It's somewhat easy enough to find if you literally just Google the name. Haven't actually fiddled with any of the files myself tho. I'd drop a link, but I think that'd constitute as warez.
The latest beta patch to Strife seems to have fixed the stuttering and (mostly) fixed the mouse, it's playable now.
It looks pretty great with those graphical effects.
I'm running through "Going Down" (Map28 out of 30, already got 31/32) and it's really fucking good. Around twenty maps in, the music is a bit repetitive, but it reminds me of a Cryiak and honestly fits the set. There's some really fucking nice mapping tricks later on, extremely good quality consistency, and the whole thing just feels solid. Touches a tad on the slaughtermap style towards the end, but the maps are small enough and with enough ammo where it's excusable. 200 monsters is usually the upper limit, and that's only later on. A few maps break it, one had 500 or so, and Map28 clocks in at almost 1200.

I highly recommend it. Plays well with monster/weapon replaces too, so I'm using qstylezx like I always do.
Finally beat it. The final boss (Map 29) does break if you use custom monsters, but everything else works, so once you clear it out, just Changemap to 30, beat it, and call it done.

That's probably because it is Cyriak, both the music and the rest of the wad
and yeah Going Down is solid (tough as shit with Space Pirate, though)

Holy shit I never bothered to read the author/email.
Never thought that guy would do Doom maps.
I really want to play some of the new maps released, but I can never seem to find a gameplay mod that meets my picky and overanalytical specifications.

What are you looking for? There's a STALKER-esque mod. There's an Arcade/SNES-esque mod. There's a mod which allows you to click at new pictures with other pictures.
In fact, you could just play vanilla Doom.
http://ps20.software.eu.playstation.com/
Doomguy's on the Playstation 20th Anniversary page, next to PS1 Lara Croft, Sweet Tooth, and the kid from Ape Escape near the top.
I see Sony's is acknowledging legendary ports of legendary games as well.
Can anyone recommend some map packs with a mostly urban setting? Been trying to play Wildweasel's Terrorists! but it's kinda stupid fighting action movie terrorists in hell :v:

oh god I've got the exact same problem and I've been trying to solve it for like half a year
[editline]16th December 2014[/editline]
try Dark7, it's spacebasey rather than urban but it still fits (plus it has a bomb-ass train level)

STALKER-esque mod? Which one is that?

It's really tough on standard Doom maps, and crouching is advised. Hitscanners will be your doom
Oh, that one. HD is okay, but it's only playable on some maps.
I can't even play HD on any maps without getting my ass utterly handed to me. I try to remember to bandage my bleeding, I carefully handle my corners and I damn well make sure not to play on the higher difficulties. Then I reach the end of the stock Doom 2 Map 1, and a single Imp fireball causes me to burn to death in mere moments.
My mind cannot comprehend trying to survive slaughtermaps with that mod, much less the Going Down pack posted above.
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I've been trying to add a custom static decoration using DECORATE. I can make it appear in GZDoom Builder 2 and indeed it shows correctly in 3d View, but when I go to test the map (GZDoom), the object is completely into the ground.
What am I doing wrong? I compared it with decorations from other wads and the code isn't really any different.
[editline]16th December 2014[/editline]
Even tried inheriting actor code from the vanilla Doom TorchedTree and simply swapping the sprite but no dice, still happens.
sprite offsets are wrong, maybe? I forget how to work with sprite offsets, been sooooo long since I flexed my ZDoom muscles
Yes, most likely, since it's at 0,0 right now. I'm gonna try messing with it a bit.
[editline]16th December 2014[/editline]
Heh yeah, turns out it was the offsets. Every tutorial except a really really old one that i just found even touched on this matter so I was confused.
Thanks for pointing me the right way.
So uh, I herd u liek Doom 64.
This isn't finished yet, hands need work, need to add the other shell; overall polishing is required. But I felt it was finished enough to show off. For anyone wondering why this doesn't go to the left first like in Doom 2, its because for the sake of building this animation I just thought it looked better not doing that, and I'll be implementing it later.

I really like your animations, I really hated how static guns were in Doom64.
Especially the pistol.
is there anywhere where you can see that gameplay from quakecon?
