Rust's Very nice looking competition: ARK Survival Evolved

I really don't think crafting resources for sleeping bags are going to be that hard to find.
Every game always says "oh it takes forever to get started" but once you know what you're doing you can get started in under an hour with a decent base. And if they're one time use, they probably don't cost much. I wonder if you can place more than one bed and then destroy them for old spawn points.
2. Meh a mechanic i dont really care about.
3. k
4. Might be cool, probably will be more annoying though losing BPs. Oh it seems Engrams are basic versions, blueprint versions have better stats. nvm.
5. Will be nice to see, I guess it makes generators a big target in bases, they will only be useful if they're Mildly OP though.
6. Fun.

Yea... but you will need to so some work.
Rust right now: Place sleeping bag. Respawn indefinitely. Run to rad down. Die. Respawn ...
ARK theoretical: Place sleeping bag. Respawn. Be sure that you have the resources close by to make a new sleeping bag or wast time harvesting! Craft sleeping bag ( preferably in hidden spot. Maybe need to to get up on a rock or whatever ). Craft sleeping bag. Run to x objective. Die... Respawn ... redo the whole thing. Unless you placed a series of bags.
So in Rust its case you are by definition impossible to remove from a area unless somebody finds your sleeping bags and destroys it.
In ARK's case you are a big target between the time you spawn and you place a new sleeping bag. Also you are forced to keep those resources needed for new bags. Even if you place multiple bags, your forced to restock your bags after x spawns.
If somebody catches you off-guard or a animal kills you before you had time to replace your sleeping bag, suddenly you are faced with a dilemma. Run all the way back to that important point ( its import that you kept spawning there for a reason ) or ...
ARK seems to be more aggressive on the whole survival aspect then Rust. And the predators do not help. Compared to rust there silly bear & wolf. Unless you are new or get caught of guard, they never kill a person ( even somebody with just a rock can survive ).
They're going to update 3 times a week. That's pretty impressive.
It's definitely going to be amazing. I don't really get why they're going early access though - it sounds like the game is pretty much finished?
Where do you live man? I'd like to go out and eat pizza togheter, you seem like a chill dude.
"very nice looking" only if you want you GPU to catch on fire

If anyone is curious
I've played about 3-4 hours in ARK and around 100 hours in Rust, and honestly ARK looks like it could have a lot more potential. I haven't played the new Rust, but speaking from my binge playing in Rust legacy, I think that ARK has a lot more to offer, and as soon as they get rid of the crappy text/inventory design and they actually add some optimization so I don't have to play on low settings on my relatively powerful computer, this game may be just as good as Rust, if not better. Just my two cents though, I know a lot of people are hating on it at the moment.
I've been playing ARK over the last few days and it's pretty incredible even in the very early stage of development that it is at.
It's like Haven and Hearth but first person with dinosaurs. Been playing with goons and we've already started a war between ourselves and another tribe. Can't wait to see how it pans out.
I on the other hand cannot see what believe see in this game? It's a very basic UE4 gamemode (where most of the 'pretty' graphics comes from) with a shit ton of artistic content in the form of dinosaurs and the map. Other than that, it's an incredibly basic game.
They've made some very questionable game design choices, such as the whole leveling mechanic? Who the heck thought it was a good idea to put such a outdated design into such a new game? "hurr durr, I hit dinosaur now I build bed!" It is EXTREMELY grindy and I cannot fathom why people enjoy that mechanic? There is literally no content in this game besides grinding levels. Sure, you can set off to build a few buildings and start a clan, but that's about it. There is exactly zero in-game reasons to fight other clans besides for the 'lulz'.
There are no regional resources to fight for or anything so there are no incentive for wars. There's no reason to not just run around and deathmatch everyone. There's nothing to do besides grinding ( and yes, I realise this game is in early access and therefore not all gameplay is in the game, but I don't see any hope for decent gameplay mechanics when the ones we've got already are very outdated and flawed) except for the cool factor of riding a freaking dinosaur, but that's a novelty effect that very quickly runs out.
What does people actually see in this game and how did such a badly designed game ever get so much hype?

The leveling system is also a progression system. It's so not every noob can go out and just ride a t-rex. You actually have to earn it.
Also it seems like you haven't seen endgame, there are reasons to raid other tribes because they will have a lot more loot you could take and make them restart. You don't want other people getting explosives to raid you when you're offline.

I agree with you a tiny bit on the tribe warfare part. Regional resources would be interesting; like the giant monolithic obelisks you see but much smaller and provide something would be cool. Like a structure that propagates the growth of plants, or one that attracts dinos, or even simply pre-built structers that are invincible (with the exception of a few entrances and holes that would need to be filled in by the players). Lots of things they could do.
