None of the Mario & Luigi games even come close to Super Star Saga, and Paper Mario has lost its way since 1000 Year Door, which was amazing.
Bowser's Inside Story was amazing though.
Dream Team was lacking something for me, but BIS was fantastic.
I assume someone has already claimed Bongo at this point?
Pretty sure nearly everyone won bongo.
Sony conference certainly wasn't anywhere close to being the best. Lots of games but nothing really that stood out except maybe 2 or 3 things. Also no actual console news or updates.

I'd probably say something along the lines of, just out of the main 3:
Best content: Microsoft
Best show structure: Sony
Best host: PC
So a nice even split for them.
Ubisoft had the most meme-friendly conference.

I'd say Sony's was the most hype conference to watch at the time, but looking at it in retrospect the majority of what it had to offer was mulitplat with minor bonuses for purchase on the PS4 and, thinking about it, I don't think I'm really much more inclined to get PS4 now than I was before.
I think for Nintendo that a big surprise could have been the two new Super Smash characters but sadly both got leaked beforehand.
I truly believe they went for the puppet thing because they just knew they really had nothing spectecular to show so they wanted to fill it up with something unique at least.
Last year they had:
- Super Smash Bros 3DS / Wii U (lots of new details)
- Amiibo announcement
- Yoshi's woolly world reveal
- The New Zelda reveal + first gameplay
- Warriors of Hyrule reveal
- Mario Maker reveal
- Splatoon reveal
5 reveals of highly anticipating new games (and Amiibo's) plus of course the much needed details for Super Smash.
Compared to this year:
- Mario Maker release date
- Star Fox reveal
- Zelda (multiplayer game) reveal for 3DS
- Animal Crossing Home design game release date
- Mario Tennis reveal
- Metroid prime federation (3DS) reveal
I'd say 2 reveals since the reactions were kinda mixed around Metroid and Animal Crossing. Other then that just some release dates.
Yeah not that strong..
Even then we knew Star Fox was coming since it was shown last year, although with nowhere near as well represented.

I don't think Nintendo really care about E3. They already have their own platform for releasing information throughout the year, most of the pageantry seems to come from Nintendo of America rather than Japan.

Apparently Nintendo's stock dropped a considerable amount after the digital event

Their next slogan should be: Nintendo - Doomed since 1889.
nintendo won't exist in 5 years with their current system

i remember seeing something like this in 2004 in EGM or gamepro or some other shit
long ass 5 years imo
then came the DS which saved them.
they need a really good pitch for NX. they aren't going to survive if it takes another fall like the WiiU did.
at least they're expanding to mobile. that might help them fair a little better
[editline]18th June 2015[/editline]
people don't seem to realize that nintendo isn't invincible. they aren't in a good state right now and they don't really have that much of a buffer to fall back on
Wii U at least turned to profit now and Amiibos turned out to be selling like hotcakes.
I'm sure they got something in stock for NX.
i could see a dreamcast happening with the NX. hope not
if nintendo actually tries to get some western third party support and more advanced hardware then NX will be a pretty viable competitor.
nintendo won't exist in 5 years with their current system
Nintendo will be one of the biggest toy companies in 5 years.
I'm glad I held off getting a Wii U if its just gonna be obsolete next year with a new Nintendo system.

The Wii U successor won't arrive in 2016.

They actually have enough in just pure money (not including assets like intellectual property) to run a defeceit of over $250 million dollars per year for fourty-two straight years without hitting zero, and that's without selling off property.
On the flipside, Sony is in serious danger of being wiped out before the generation is over and has had to sell several headquarters in order to make do. There is a high possibility that PlayStation will either cease to be a brand when Sony finally runs out or be sold off to a different company (or simply split off into it's own separate entity, though considering how much system R&D usually costs Sony relative to the actual profits from the PlayStation division now, I don't think that's feasible).

People seem to forget this, a lot. Nintendo are in absolutely no financial danger at this point in time, they're not going anywhere for quite a while. Last I checked, it was something like ~11 billion USD in cash reserves.
Anyone down to play animal party 64 with me?
For all the hype Last Guardian has, they showed some pretty lackluster game play. I mean yeah it showed off some mechanics on how the two interact, but it felt really weak considering all the hype behind it.
I have this feeling that its going to come out and it will not be able to meet the standards people have set for it because of this hype.
Not saying it will be bad, but I feel the hype it has going for it will end up hurting the game

Nintendo has always been #1 in terms of value compared to other video game companies, and has been for a really long time. Nintendo won't die.
That's why they always experiment with new things, they don't have fear of bankruptcy, nor should they.

Suppose a new photography store hits your town
Said shop's owner decides to sell only photographic film cameras and related gadgets and accessories for that kind of cameras and that kind alone
Now, everyone at this point in time knows for a fact that digital photography has fully surpassed photographic film, to the point that all nowadays cameras are digital and the old companies that used to make money out of that are out of business
Knowing this, you'd expect this shop I mentioned to utterly go bankrupt in some weeks or some months at best
Except it doesn't: it somehow manages to make enough profit to keep itself afloat
Being a person with some economic insight, you can make only two theories about why the shop is still running:
- There are enough old school photographers who go buy their stuff there for the exact reason it's the only place in town selling vintage, old stuff accessories and cameras like those. They are very dedicated costumers and like to provide the owner money to keep the shop running and have a place to cultivate their own peculiar interests
- The shop owner has an immense, endless, blasted stream of good luck that isn't related to his own economical genius or his products at all and manages to keep the blasted man afloat for reasons that elude our understanding
The example I pictured above summs up my own view of Nintendo and their MO when it comes to producing games
I really hope the new Nintendo NX or whatever has backwards compatibility with Wii and Wii U. I also hope the gamepad will be supported up to four players rather then one.
It is a bit unusual to see/notice Nintendo being pretty excited and careful with the NX.
During a recent Q&A with investors, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata cleared up some of the confusion about the Nintendo NX. "Because we are calling it a 'new concept', we are not thinking of this as a 'simple replacement' for the 3DS or the Wii U," Iwata said.
Nintendo makes a profit on every console they've ever sold in the past decade+ and easily has the strongest first party game sales (combined together) out of any of their competitors considering their fanbase largely only buys their games.
Nintendo could easily flop 5 entire console generations in a row and still have money in the bank. Sure Wii U isn't super successful and none of their games sell as much as 3rd party cross platform game titles on other platforms do. But they make all that up by their big library of first party titles only available on their first party system that is sold at a profit. Not to mention Nintendo has some serious cult-like fans that will buy anything they make.
Besides, the Wii U is in a state that was similar to the PS3 - really slow adoption vs competition at the start of the generation but a healthy amount of people buying them later in the generation after the game library expanded. If you get a Wii U there are some seriously great games for it out now. PS3 took a long time for that same thing to happen. I think Wii U sales overall are doing better than ever, even if they aren't selling out or exploding like the Wii did.
