I think too many people in this thread want a Minecraft 2.0 rather than a action-adventure RPG set in a voxel world
I just want a mix, like this game seems awesome but I also want to mine and build stuff.
The guy making this really needs to put more variation in his screenshots and videos. He's always playing as a sword-wielding cutesy elf thing unless he's specifically showing off something that requires him to be something different.
There's creative mode now
But in creative mode you can't fight things, and there's no satisfaction in exploring. I think "mining" in this game should be more like you find a cave and there are occasional ores that stick out, and you can gather those, much like in Skyrim. There will of course be monsters to fight, and maybe chests with loot. The mining that I don't want is having to create mine shafts and then dig out long tunnels to find ores, because that wouldn't fit the more adventure-y feel of this game. I do love gathering materials to create/upgrade weapons and armors though.
Really hope there are more story driven quests like most rpg's and some friendly npc interactions other than fighting companions and quest givers.

I just hope he doesn't plan to finish it, and leave it, I'm hoping for continued content, it's a bit much, but that or modding tools.
This looks kinda boring to me. I can see the appeal but the combat looks fairly lame, especially the bows since it looks like they auto target.

At the moment they just slash at you while you slash at them. Sure you have some special attacks but because the enemies just mindlessly run towards you while slashing it pretty much boils down to minecraft combat.
I know I sound like some white knight defender of Wollay by now, but there was a lich boss that shot fireballs
I think that landscaping should be done kind of like in The Sims. You have a plot of land where you can build you house and move around blocks and add garden shit like statues that can be made in the voxel creator thing.
When is this coming out?
when it is done.
Aprox. some time around the end of march.
Not even the end. He never even said late March, just said Q1, which can be Jan - March.
Could be tomorrow for all the fuck we know! [editline]7th February 2012[/editline] Shit, then I'd have to decide whether to play this or Kingdoms of Amalur. [editline]7th February 2012[/editline] Cube World wins.
Has he mentioned pricing yet?
As far as I know, he has not mentioned the price. (he hasn't been on Twitter since 2 days ago.
Are there any videos of the building mechanics. I can't seem to find any videos of it, just general combat. Bows seem to have autoaim? And the third person looks great for videos and what not but I really hope there's a first person option. Gonna keep tabs on this game for sure.
Just because bows have autoaim doesn't necessarily make it bad. Kingdoms of Amalur's bows have autoaim and they're not even that powerful. Judging by some of the videos for Cube World, they aren't that strong either.

I'd like to have some sort of ranger bow that would deal same or more amount of damage as its melee counterpart.
Bows don't suck. The fact they do less damage is the tradeoff you get for being able to attack enemies at a distance. Seeing as how so far the gameplay consists of a lot of tanking, it could come in handy.
If you go back several twitter posts, (alot actually) it's said when he implements third person view you can still scroll to the first person.

Melee is easier to use than bows if bows don't have auto-aim, so the trade-off for range is you have to aim and predict movement of your target. That is why I'd like to have some of the more powerful bows to have no auto-aim, so you can actually have some difference in combat, rather than same as melee, aka click spam.
And the trade-off of not being able to auto-aim is?
Challenging, fun and not boring gameplay. [editline]7th February 2012[/editline] Also I don't think you can melee a dragon when it's flying.
Challenging, fun and not boring gameplay.
Exactly my point, hence why I don't want auto-aim.
From a first person perspective, auto aim isn't needed, from the third person it is.
it looks pretty awesome, but the fact that he's restricting destruction/digging because he doesn't want it labelled a minecraft clone is pretty shit.
Exactly my point, hence why I want auto-aim.
FUCK, I meant hence why I DO NOT want auto-aim. Fuck me. [editline]8th February 2012[/editline]
From a first person perspective, auto aim isn't needed, from the third person it is.
I'd be fine without auto-aim in TPS. I don't see a big deal between FPS and TPS aiming. There's still a crosshair that you use to aim.
