When DO you pirate a game, then?
When DO you pirate a game, then?
Never?
You don't pirate a game you're not sure about, you don't pirate any game because of being cheap, broke etc, simple as.
Like I said, you lack empathy, you're not even attempting to understand. lol. It's a chemical problem, don't take offense. It's genetics.
Like I said, you lack empathy, you're not even attempting to understand. lol. It's a chemical problem, don't take offense. It's genetics.
what the fuck kind of an argument are you making right now [editline]9th July 2013[/editline] If anyone involved lacks empathy, it's probably you.
Like I said, you lack empathy, you're not even attempting to understand. lol. It's a chemical problem, don't take offense. It's genetics.
I don't feel for pirates or whatever you're trying to say.
what the fuck kind of an argument are you making right now
I've spent money on unfinished games with the faith they would be complete to my expectations, been let down, multiple times.. Learned not to give my money away. The counter argument giver happens to have spare money to throw around in the gaming community (as well as enough to openly boast about how much money he has) and doesn't understand that I support video games entirely, and will give my money away to them if it is a game that's being complete to expectations. Or at the very least, is enjoyable to me. -------------- ------------ Point being: Imagine you're an indy dev: Would you rather: 1) Someone being on the fence about purchasing your hard work, and as a result, doesn't purchase it? or 2) Someone being on the fence about a purchase, pirates it, enjoys it, pays money for it, supports it? Not only did you get someone to pay for it, they paid for it DESPITE there being no physical limitation to their pirated copy... so not only are you getting their money... you get their respect, and the knowledge that you created a game that people feel: "Yes, this person deserves my money, I enjoy this piece of work." -- Lol and I don't lack empathy, I put myself in the shoes of the dev always. And there are loads of indy devs who are pro video game piracy for that reason, AS ARE MUSICIANS, it's the same exact idea. Getting paid, not because it's expected, but because you're appreciated!
He's saying you don't understand HIS pov or feelings and if you did, you'd see why he deserves it. Or he could understand that people worked hard on this and he's actively denying them payment for their hard work, but I bet he won't and he'll just blame you instead.

But if it doesn't meet your expectations you'll keep it anyway
But if it doesn't meet your expectations you'll keep it anyway
I won't play it... why the fuck would I keep a game I don't enjoy... How does that make sense? ------------ I called for a refund on Sim City... they gave me my refund AND let me keep the game... Do I play it? fuck no [editline]9th July 2013[/editline]
He's saying you don't understand HIS pov or feelings and if you did, you'd see why he deserves it. This is absolutely NOT what I'm saying lol. [editline]9th July 2013[/editline] Anyway, there's only so much sense I can make before I start making no sense. Keep passing judgement without trying to listen, it's like Christians holding back science... only in video games. XD
You don't pirate a game, it's not possible to justify at all. The only reason you pirate a game is if you're cheap. $20 / £13 whatever, it's breaking my wallet guys jeeze. Even more ridiculous that people pay money for an Alpha of a game and moan like hell that it's buggy and unplayable.
"Oh look, a pot which is telling me to examine it, surely it has something inter-" "THERE IS NOTHING SPECIAL"

You lack empathy. I (and many others) don't have cash to fly around on the CHANCE a game may turn out good. Your being silly... and by silly... replace that with a derogatory term for someone who lacks intelligence. The worse it is, the better.

Again: if your argument is "ohmagerd it's only X amount of dollars" you're missing the point.
You keep mentioning you have no money as if that makes pirating okay. If you're that tight on cash maybe you shouldn't be playing games.
Being tight on money and not wanting to flippantly spend it on gambles (gambles I might add that have no cash back value) are not the same thing. So allow me to rephrase: I do not want to flippantly spend my money on any game that I have not tried first hand. Exceptions: reputable developers. But even reputable developers have been letting us (me) down recently. Who would've thought Battlefield 3 would've been such a flop in comparison to the team oriented game BF2 was? Not me, wasted a shitload of money on that on the assumption that: "I enjoyed BF2, of course I'll enjoy BF3 now that it's back to PC".
if you lack the (small amount of) money it costs to purchase a luxury such as a game, simply dont buy it, you are obviously unemployed and cant afford basic necessities, or you are living in poverty and need every penny, in which case, you should focus on not being poor save up your money, read reviews to make sure you arent buying a shoddy product, and buy it when you have enough saved up anyone who defends and justifies piracy is just cheap, especially in a case where the developers desperately need the money, and especially in a situation where the developers use that money to make their (alpha stage) game better
So you're justifying your piracy based on that you get disappointed?
Or have my money stolen with unfinished products, like War z... I'm repeating posts.. Please read.. read with understanding.. slow down your words per minute, maybe take a finger to the screen and define each word as you go along? I'm not sure how I can be more clear about why I shop the way I do.

Given, I don't think that it was built enough (even for an alpha) to warrant $20 but holy shit. I don't think anyone is saying that you need to be made of money to be able to spare $20 or that they don't understand that some people just can't afford it but defending piracy because you don't have the money or because games have been disappointing for you doesn't make a difference. Stop flinging words like "empathy" when you're just as shallow. I'll pirate things and I'll buy it if I like the game; I can agree with that but you're not making a very good argument for yourself.

It's a risk you take.

But that's not a reason to throw it away on what is essentially a blind gamble (unless you've tried the game prior to the purchase) I personally feel my argument is sound. No one gets my money unless I feel it's deserved.

A situation like that has not happened en masse for a very long time; and even then, it was sorted out that it was a scam relatively quickly after the game was released for public play. You can't justify pirating any, or even most, games because of one situation. Again, all of these issues can be avoided if you just thoroughly read up on a game before committing to spending money on it, and by simply not spending money on games in the first place if you live in such poverty that you can't afford to "lose" $20. (the equivalent of 2 Big Mac meals)
No one gets my money unless I feel it's deserved.
Then don't get the product at all.
