I pirated because
1: I don't have the money to buy a game, regardless of quality
2: I wanted to see if it's a game I see myself persisting playing (atm that's a yes, though I shall wait until there's more to do than farm loot and xp)
3: the sight doesn't let me create an account and therefore I couldn't even get the chance to try pay for it
if you don't think any of these are at least remotely justified, maybe stop being a dick and enjoy your fucking game you may or may have not payed for :v:

i've been playing this game for a bit and only just realised there is no block to block removal or building
i guess the aesthetics gave me the impression that there would be building and stuff. kinda disappointed but still a pretty fun alpha, i can see this game going places.

If you have even the shittiest jobs, $20 is [i]nothing[/i] to spend.
If that is too much to spend, don't play the game, focus on getting a job that's better than your current one. (though I doubt you have one if you think $20 is [i]too much for you to lose[/i])
Buy the product if you have the money, save up for it if you want it, don't get it if you don't have the money.

Right now, definitely starbound. However, you should wait until it comes out to choose. Cubeworld could really shape into something fantastic.

get a job and work for 3 hours at minimum wage and get enough money to buy both games
If $20 is really difficult for you to get a hold of, just decide which is more important to you. In terms of general content, Starbound has much more already implemented, but Cubeworld has much more planned for the near (and far) future. Starbound is also in a totally different setting, and is 2D which is limiting. Cubeworld has potential, but at this point, there isn't much to do and Starbound will have vastly more content in its near release. We also don't know if Cubeworld will stick to its promises after making a good load of money that it has so far.
Again, honestly, I'd just scrounge for $20 through family, friends, or (especially) a job.

Also the building isn't quite the same as in Minecraft as far as I know. You have to get blueprints for building pieces then build using those.

Don't forget the Witches, they are the same thing in different skin. It's manageable to take them out safely with Ranger, if you stun them before they manage to fire their death-laser at you, they don't seem to be able to use it anymore.
