Seriously, look at some of those enemies, it just becomes a spam fest between the two of you until someone dies, based solely on how much health or medkits you have. [editline]edit[/editline] In other words there's not really any strategy to combat, you either win or lose and if you lose it means you have to level-up (read: grind) some more to get more health.

And body types. This is the kind of game where excessive variety is a plus: so long as you can keep them balanced, there should be an overwhelming variety of body types, weapon types, enemy types, spell types, etc. all of which being customizable to some extent and all being unique yet still balanced.
I've got mixed feelings about this. Don't quite like the art style. Maybe it's the empty flat surfaces of the blocks. Add textures and detail and it's a must buy.

Looks infinitely superior to minecraft, I could actually imagine this as a finished product at some point in time.

Perhaps if we had shields to block attacks that would be more interesting? I believe shields and armor were added, but never demonstrated.
Perhaps if we had shields to block attacks that would be more interesting? I believe shields and armor were added, but never demonstrated.
Does a blocked attack generate spirit? If it does then there's no point blocking ever, so it obviously shouldn't... I sort of like the idea where you're mindlessly attacking, watching for the power attack to time a dodge and then land your own power attack, makes for an interesting and interactive combat where trading small blows is the bread and butter.
Keep in mind that a huge aspect of this game is co-op. How long do you think the enemies would last if they had 2+ people whacking it?
When did he say that co-op would be a huge aspect? I know it will have multiplayer, but the idea of the game relying on that is unappealing. I'm sure he will make major balance changes before release As for the spammy combat, it can be fixed by making battles shorter and adding a block feature. There are already shields, but i don't think blocking while dual wielding is in yet.
but the idea of the game relying on that is unappealing
Uhh not really. The main reason I want this game is to play it with friends.
Oh, I remember when this was first announced. About 2 days later the website and fourms got DDOS'd and the creator sent death threats from the Notch Defense force :v:
Link where he said co-op would be a major aspect.
I hope he adds shields and magic, that would variate the combat a bit. Also, resistance to certain attacks, like stone enemies immune to swords, ice enemies immune to ice, etc.
I think the combat could be fixed by adding a delay to the sword swings and adding a block/counter mechanism. The delay on the swings would kind of force you to calculate when to attack, instead of mindlessly swinging your weapons and running at the enemy. A skill mechanism could also be interesting. A skill that shoves away all the enemies around you, so that you can avoid being gang raped for example. It would add a bit move variety to the gameplay.

Then the customiaztion is fair and still unique, and there could be rare blocks that are both light and strong.
Looks infinitely superior to minecraft, I could actually imagine this as a finished product at some point in time.
God damn it Name five features similar to minecraft and stop comparing those two games
Name five features similar to minecraft
wide world exploration customizable character (in one way or another) dungeon raiding crafting multiplayer/co-op [editline]13th February 2012[/editline] Not necessarily disagreeing with you, I just actually wanted to see if I could list 5.
I don't even see how its like minecraft, people see a cube like game and auto assume 'OMG CUBES, ITS MINECRAFT CLONE!!!' That's not how it works and I'm sick of seeing other indie games being compared to fucking Minecraft. People think Terraria is just 2D minecraft, WHY? THE GAMES AREN'T EVEN ALIKE IN THE SLIGHTEST.

They are still too different to call any of them clones.
I just realized how there's no excuse to NOT let us customize our character's head (via block building) without any unnecessarily low restrictions. If you equip a helmet, the head bodypart can just change to default while you're wearing it, derp.

When i read this game would not include mining or digging my inital reaction was "well thats pretty shit then." Then I asked myself why? It's reached the point where every voxel based game involves terrain deformation for the purposes of digging and mining. To the stage that now every time I see a voxel, I seem to think it synonymous with mining. I then began to think that Voxels don't have to be used for just mining, digging and building but as a means for infinitely generated terrain.
Link where he said co-op would be a major aspect.
I just noticed that nobody answered this request, hopefully co-op will not be a major aspect.
I just noticed that nobody answered this request, hopefully co-op will not be a major aspect.
I can agree with this. Even though I'm interested in this, it doesn't mean my friends are. They mostly just play LoL and CoD (the first Modern Warfare, mind you). Would be a shame if the game couldn't be properly enjoyed alone.
You can always play with internet buddies.
I don't want to have to rely on other people to have fun in a game like this. Mutliplayer only games, sure, but something like Cube World? I'd rather be able to wander around doing whatever I want rather than be yelled at by others because I'm not helping them.
so minecraft is a everquest clone
Everquest with voxels, vacations and fat Swedish dudes with smelly hats
So do we know how much this is going to cost?
