If you pirate it (WHICH YOU SHOULD NEVER DO I ALREADY BOUGHT MY COPY) you can copy your save file to the official version. so if you're really that pent up to play, just get it that way and play until you can buy it, and then transfer your save over and everyone wins.

that's your problem- "a" fire spirit. You need at least 4 to really see any effects.

Water ice and Candied apples are so hard to get hold of in this game.
I want a horse for my mount and a spitter for my dungeoning pet.
Been killing blue +3 spitters for a while trying to get the candied apple and have failed so far. Went from level 18 to level 21 from killing them at a large round lake. They was absolutely everywhere.
