PREQUEL is a story on the internet. It has been called several other things too, including “Making A Cat Cry: The Adventure“, “Everything Is A Federal Fucking Issue And Also Trying To Make You Miserable“, “Katia Managan: Alcoholic, Vasilikphobe, Adventurer“, and “Slutcat Adventures 2: Daggerfall“. All of these names are equally descriptive and accurate.
decided to try out that Wayward Beta while i wait for this to update. not too bad, has its share of glitches still but not bad.
A guy on the unofficial Cube World forums is complaining that Wollay released the game too early. He says "it's an alpha" is not an excuse, and that it is released because people who buy it can play it.
???

One of my friends has basically that exact same viewpoint. And he refuses to accept that any of the issues regarding the launch were Wollay's fault too.
CubeWorld is really really fun but then if you go onto the multiplayer its all hacks and people begging for hacked items. also if you try to play a pvp server its hacks but otherwise nothing is wrong with singleplayer :D

Give him a swift punch to the face for me.
One of my friends has basically that exact same viewpoint. Yeah, but as far as Alex sees the release, it was entirely the fault of fans somehow, lol.
I wonder when Wollay is going to send out an update next. No twitter messages since almost a month ago, and no blog posts since almost half a month ago..
Yeah, but as far as Alex sees the release, it was entirely the fault of fans somehow, lol.
the fans weren't helping with the DDoS attacks but he wasnt helping much either with his choice of server services. he coulda over prepared and at 20$ a game still made money.
edit adn as anotehr thought he coulda taken Tiy's offer, if they hosted the alpha for him it coulda gone smoother as there would be a TEAM managing that for him.
i know i emphasize it a lot but sometimes people forget one man cant do everything. i know wollay did.

It's funny because there was like some joke post about how Wollay and his wife would go on vacation for a month, in reference to Notch. Looks like it wasn't a joke afterall! :v:

I don't think in Wollay's case that it's actually a vacation. He just sunk back into his working without updating for who knows how long routine.
Meh, I'm down for it. If it means a larger update then by all means. I prefer slow, large updates than frequent small ones.
Though for this situation it'd probably be technically better to do the latter, but whatever floats Wol's boat.
yeah most devs when they fix a few major bugs they do a tiny release, wollays case he's probably rewriting large sections of code in a massive cascade effect and its going to lead to the eventual start of world war 5. cause 2 more world wars will happen before hes done! ZING!
thread is as lively as wollay. had to be said.
Well, with no new updates and no new servers of note, what is there to do but go over the same things again and again?
Don't want to become a circlejerk like the fallout thread.

Wollay should really work on his communication skills. He's not really going to keep people very interested without even letting us know what's going on. People are just going to forget the game exists until they finally hear about an update then go play a bit and repeat it all.
Seriously, not hearing from Wol_lay in over a month just makes me wish I didn't buy the game because past the hype it's pretty shallow.

i just realised i ahve another game that suffered the same issue, NEStalgia. they ahd this big expanded content planned a year or so ago when i last played.
i decide to see whats happened and nothing has moved. IN A YEAR
I hope Wollay will fix the compatibillity with AMD and Intel cards fast, stuttering I get sometmes is no fun. I want to play with 100% rendering distance too :c

im capable of 100% render distance as well, but with no frame lock set exactly at 60hz or jsut plain Vsync i get tearing as well as stuttering. its jsut two problems i shouldn't have in the same game! so i ahvn't touched it in a long 2 months now.
So I stopped following this game and finally got the money to buy it today. What did I miss since the site came back up? Any new content? Bugfixes? Anything?

Basically nothing :\

Oh, well, can't expect them to really have started working on content while that whole DDoS fiasco was going on.

I don't see why not to be honest. It's not like there was actually anything he could actually do about the ddos anyways past getting different hosting which he seemingly refused to do. Plus the ddos thing ended a long while ago from what I know, he just never really said it did because he's switched back to rarely communicating anything.
Wollay is excentric for sure, but he can get shit done. He may not win the hearts of the majority of people who bought Cubeworld with his non-communicative approach, but I don't think we should give up on him yet. After all, he was working on Cubeworld in complete silence for a long time, with little to no hype surrounding it that could have motivated him, yet here we are with a playable alpha which is already fun. Have some faith and patience, remember it's just a single guy and his magnum opus we are talking about here.
I don't really mind if he takes his time, I would just like him to talk to the community a bit. That's one of the main great things about most Indie Devs, they communicate with their players.
yeah if your gonna allow people to buy your game to test it for you on various system setups the least you can do is at least once every 2 weeks go got in a new batch of bugs working on them now. the whole month of silence thing wears thin. fast. even if it does take a month initially to wear thin.
