There is a decent sized topic in the cubeworld subreddit and I had my own particular discussion going on. This one guy is convinced that spending 45 seconds per week to tell people you're not dead is elitist and asking way too much of a developer. He should be allowed to do nothing. Then again he visits /r/libertarian. If Wollay sent a hitman to my house I'm sure this guy would think It's ok since I purchased an alpha. It kinda sucks. I wanna open the server again etc. But there is no point and letting it drain money..
It kinda sucks. I wanna open the server again etc. But there is no point and letting it drain money..
I would play but I am stuck into prison architect at the moment. The minute new content drops I will be playing again but who knows when that will be.
I would not compare Cube World with Terraria and Minecraft. They are completely different.
Thanks for the information.
I'm just new to this thread and I answered the title. It's just my opinion, tho.
I would not compare Cube World with Terraria and Minecraft. They are completely different.
Rule No. 69 of FP, Titles aren't serious.
Rule No. 69 of FP, Titles aren't serious.
I know it's shamelessly stolen from 4chan, but people should really lurk moar.
Rule No. 69 of FP, Titles aren't serious.
Sometimes they are, e.x. mine.
It kinda sucks.
Sometimes they are, e.x. mine.
i remember killing postal with a sick bhop rail [editline]i totally typed out this editline[/editline] good times
soooo i heard wollay is goin to a Game con or something, not putting up a booth just going to one. anyone able to confirm that? if so. wtf. seriously.
its funny how this just sorta died.
yeah i haven't heard anything about this in like a few months i kind of just gave up on it because it seems wollay doesn't give a shit.
its funny how this just sorta died.
Kinda hard for it to stay alive when there's only so much you can do in the alpha right now and Wollay isn't communicating with the fans at all. It's good for an alpha but so far all you can really do is repeatedly grind the same things over and over. Once you've seen each of the biomes and dungeons there's not a lot left to do really.
yeah i haven't heard anything about this in like a few months i kind of just gave up on it because it seems wollay doesn't give a shit.
"how dare you be interested in news or updates to the game. Wollay owes you nothing." -Most People I talk to
"how dare you be interested in news or updates to the game. Now he actually agrees Wollay needs to update people.
Forgot Minecraft, Forgot Terraria, Forgot Cubeworld
The game isn't dead as such. It's just we expected stuff to speed up once the alpha version was out and it just... hasn't. We are receiving no more communication or content than before. I guess the bright side of this is that if Wollay really has resumed doing what he did before, future content updates could be relatively substantial, but it's a rather faint silver lining.

And that's something that would only take a minute or so every day at most really.

Wollay could certainly be doing more to let us know he's still there and is still working on the project. I'm just saying this almost certainly isn't him abandoning the project, it's just him resuming his previous update habits.
I think this game will suffer from itself in a way. By that I mean people overplayed it in a short amount of time and now there isn't much to discuss for the reason Alice, mentioned a page earlier. But now because people are waiting for an update (that will maybe come much later on) all that will happen is people will overplay the update, making a snowball effect that will kinda hurt the game.

Especially minecraft for a while. When updates got less content and more fixes and patches, people would play those aspects a whole bunch. Doesn't help that it seems most of the content MC got was so independent of the other aspects, it just doesn't always blend together.
It's extremely common for developers to lose interest in working on a game when a playable version is released to the public. That's how all of my projects typically ended up dying, and the same goes for other indie devs I knew. Wollay originally had the right idea from the start by not wanting to release it before it was truly done.
MC's terrain generation died when it left beta.
its funny how this just sorta died.
True indie games never die, they just kind of fade away.
True indie games never die, they just kind of fade away.
I feel like this one faded pretty damn fast :v:
faded like a message in the sand on a beach in florida. during a hurricane.
Well at least hurricanes happen in Florida often. [editline]24th August 2013[/editline] Er, wait...
