As an example the last time he gave us any info was nearly 3 months ago.
And the last update was like 8-9 months ago despite it being an alpha.
And the last update was like 8-9 months ago despite it being an alpha.
That too. I looked at his twitter to figure out how long it had been since he gave us info but had no clue for the previous update.
You shouldn't buy the game at all. The developer released the game last summer and everyone jumped on the bandwagon of buying it. Then he goes dark for months and it's almost a year without an update. The game better be entirely different from what it used to be or I will seriously question what he spent nine months doing.
Oh, that's not good. Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep an eye on it, but not buy unless it gets some big content updates. I wouldn't mind dropping $5-$10 on it, but the current price is too high to gamble on it.

By that time there should be relatively few bugs so Wollay disappearing and not doing any patches shouldn't be a huge issue.

Almost any game is fun with friends, even the terrible ones. Cubeworld currently does not offer any substance past the first two or three hours of playing, in its current state it's a horrible game and not worth the asking price. Wollay has killed this game, it will not be able to fully recover. He should have put out regular, minor patches. Even when Cubeworld updates I'm not even going to download it and the same goes for most of the people I know. Would Minecraft be as large as it is today if Notch released it in it's alpha stage and then waited almost a year to update it with very little communication with the community? No. I don't get why people keep supporting Wollay's behaviour.
I completely forgot this game existed. I remember getting hyped about it then learning about how the developer vanished almost immediately after the game became available for purchase. I still believe the guy is basically sitting on his dosh at this point. I mean I don't think he ran away with the money but turning rich literally overnight is almost guaranteed to turn you into a lazy shit since you don't actually have to work and produce anything to earn the necessary income to even survive on a day to day basis - just look at Notch. Guy made Minecraft out of a sheer need for money, and when the game started to financially explode, he took more and more vacations until he eventually just abandoned the project altogether because people buying your unfinished product gives you so much money you don't even have to actually work anymore.

Wollays problem is his team of coders and testers consist of 2 people. himself and his wife. so progress is slow going especially when you decide to rework a whole system you had planned for the next content patch, i could imagine having to redo something or reshape it would be frustrating and he probably wouldnt want to communicate after a few months and it only says "progress is slow as im reworking my original quest system idea. and if you seriously dont try it AFTER the next update comes out thats your loss. it'll be huge changes. I probably should ask for a refund if that's even possible. I never really gave the game a chance because I like to play games southpaw, but without remapping, it was a pain to play. I was thinking sooner or later he'd add that in, shit I never realized he wouldn't update the game in general. I've had the game probably since a month after it was made available and put a total of about 30 minutes into before I got tired of it. Yeah definitely not my best purchase.

I doubt I would get a refund at this point, just saying I too regret buying this.

It was Notch and eventually Jeb. Notch would constantly communicate with the fanbase over Twitter, Blog and the Forums. They managed to put out small but regular updates to the game to improve it and fix things that were buggy/broken. Wollay on the other hand has not released an update in nine months, only updates prior were small bug fixes. He doesn't communicate with the community and rarely updates us with his progress. The game is dead and will never be able to recover. Most people give a game one chance and Cubeworld blew it's chance of becoming huge. Minecraft on the other hand has a large active community and large updates every 3-4 months. I decided to look at the larger Minecraft server plugins and they are all updated to 1.7.X. The reason why the modding community is a bit stale at the moment is because people are waiting for the official Minecraft plugin API which Mojang has been talking about for the better part of a year now. But you will still find thousands of active plugins and mods that work flawlessly with the current version of Minecraft. Also older Minecraft plugins generally work with newer versions, I ran several plugins not updated since 1.4.X in 1.6.X. without any problems.

And Mojang has been shitting out small releases a lot the last few weeks instead of consolidating them. I am likely wrong though, that's been my understanding.

He should have done bi-weekly or monthly updates to the game, maybe add new dungeon/monster types, tweak game balance, new items and a barebones quest system which he can work on. It would have made the community stick around for longer. But instead he decided to take nine months for his first ever content update and he scrapped a lot of his work from the first six months. This entire scenario feels very DN:F esque.

I'm glad Wollay has broken his silence, I put over 100 hours into the game before getting bored so hopefully the new quest system draws me back in. Underneath it's a really cool game and the aesthetic is fantastic, and I remain optimistic Wollay can do something cool with it.
rofl Apparently my account got deleted somehow so now I don't even own the game I paid for anymore, and I seriously doubt I'll be able to get it back.
Haven't you got an email confirming your purchase? I'm just arguing the points Xilo brought up. You seem to be one of these mindless Wollay/Cubeworld fans.
You're beginning to sound like a broken record. I do like the game and I pretty much agree with everything I've seen ejonkou say recently about it. Why? Because Wollay isn't handling his game very well and is only harming the success of his game and peoples' faith in him to actually accomplish anything with it.
I never got an email for my purchase, which probably had something to do with the massive backlog the purchase servers had at the time. If you used paypal, it'll show up on your records, and paypal sends a purchase confirmation email. Or if you paid by card (in the UK at least) you can request statements on demand from the bank to prove you've purchased the game.
I was about to ask how's the game keeping up and what content was added for past months since its alpha release... Apparently none? At all? If yes, then dev is a total retard.
I was about to ask how's the game keeping up and what content was added for past months since its alpha release... Apparently none? At all? If yes, then dev is a total retard.
Apperantly none indeed, this game has been a disgrace...

Hopefully we can see the update drop before summer.
I feel like modding could save this game if Wollay were to create decent API.
I feel like modding could save this game if Wollay were to create decent API.
I don't think that's an alpha priority
i love how ironic "forget Minecraft, forget Terraria." has become over time
I didn't set that title, the original OP before he became inactive did. :v:
