When the shop comes back on, would anybody be interested in trading a copy of XCOM on steam for a copy of this?
[SUP][SUP]Please?[/SUP][/SUP]

Will probably buy cubeworld when the store is back up.
I'm sure mod support wasn't added for a reason as at first he said something along the lines that they were going to add it in the past, but then changed his mind.
They might eventually change their mind again, hopefully.
asdf
and the thread has now devolved into a begging thread but to be honest i understand wolly does have us by the balls at this moment in time >_<

I really do hope he changes his mind regarding mod support.
It doesn't need it now, but later down the line it could do wonders for the longevity of the game and mod support is perfect for a game such as this.
Oh.
Wollay wtf are you doing, no mod support? possible the worst decision i've ever heard for this type of game
seriously.
this isn't some linear mainstream first-person shooter. this is a game of infinite progression and adventure, and he's not adding modding support? a huge blow to the modding community. unless he gives a reasonable explanation as to why he isn't adding support for modding, or if he will add it some time in the future (even if it's something as simple as a lua api), he lost himself a sale from me.
i was really expecting for a large, blossiming modding community for this game. what a disappointment.
hell, i'll join the damn dev team for free if i can add some modding interface.

That's what I'm thinking as it would take a lot more work to disallow people from using client side mods, which like you said, could ruin the multiplayer aspect. But then again, people will eventually create an inventory management cheat and that still can ruin gameplay as the characters transfer over. That's a huge deal as other games had this happen, like Terraria.
edit: The site 404ed for me, I got excited and then found out it was just me...

Yeah hopefully that will change. There's some incredible potential for mods with this game
If anyone actually managed to get this before the store went down, if anyone is running a server and wants to do a few quests/castles/anything else wanna pm me an IP? :) I'd love to get playing online with someone as most of the places are really god damn hard on solo, Level 11 mage btw.
I'm going to have one up soon on 76.167.59.215:50(or whatever the port is for these servers), assuming linux can run the dedicated servers.

He seems pretty into doing things solo, I just guess he doesn't want anybody altering his hard work.
Personally I'd be pretty flattered that people love something I'd created enough to build upon it, but if he doesn't want it to be a foundation for anything else that's his choice really.
Plus, I guess it's easy to get lazy when you have people that will mod in features.
Hopefully it will be fixed soon, it would be awesome if it is before the weekend
To offset any balance issues I think he could add a module system like Mount and Blade, which would force characters to only play online with people that have those same mods.
Cant wait for this game. It looks amazing.
Is it likely to get fixed today? I don't really know what's going on, I didn't even know it was released earlier v:v:v

It's past midnight where he lives, so my guess will be he'll hold off on the shop opening for at least 8 more hours (that'll make it 8:40AM at his location) so he has the entire afternoon fixing problems that might arise.
wow this game looks so good i cant believe
anyone know if the server app can be run on a linux server?
I emailed him about mod support and got no reply. Then again, I built my own mod support into Terraria, so it might be possible to do something.
Here's the catch: we'd have to rewrite the server from scratch to accommodate the fact that the server is probably built in C++ and we can't decompile that.
welp im gonna go play some the walking dead in order to get my feels ready when the game releases
...and then my feels becouse i wont be able to buy it

No one really has the game to test.
I'm kind of curious about testing some stuff on it myself, but lack the game. Went to buy just minutes after he closed the shop.
I think adding mod support takes a whole lot more effort than one would think.
Goodnight everyone, hopefully this game will be available to purchase again soon so as to release that mighty grip it currently has on everyone's balls. Fingers crossed this will be available after work tomorrow, would make for a fun evening.

No, it really doesn't if you design your game properly. Adding mod support is just about adding events and making existing APIs public. You don't need to write in much extra to support stuff.
The problem is that if the game is in C++, you can't just hotload more code. Usually, you'd use Lua or something similar (as garry did) to allow for easier mod development. This requires baking in support for Lua and such, something that most developers don't consider until the end (when it's too late and the game wasn't built to be extensible in the first place).

The reason why Minecraft was so modder friendly was because you could just recompile the game with your own code - something that's impossible with C++ due to how the language works on a fundamental level.
I think adding mod support takes a whole lot more effort than one would think.
of course it does, it takes some effort to implement it, but the benefits are more than worth it.
minecraft, for instance, was released with no modding support. then people were able to decompile the bytecode and implement an interface to work with, now it's almost pointless to play minecraft without mods, and many people are buying minecraft just to play it with mods such as tekkit. i believe that minecraft wouldn't be making nearly as much money today without those mods.
but since this game is written in a compiled language (c++), it will be very difficult to create such a modding interface.

Dear friend,
Based on the further explicit investment information about your country from my research i wish to invest in your country under your supervision.
I am Prince Fayed W. Bolkiah, the eldest son of Prince Jeffrey Bolkiah former finance minister of Brunei, the tiny oil-rich sultanate on the Gulf Island of Borneo. I save your time by not amplifying my extended royal family history, which has already been disseminated by the international media during the controversial dispute that erupted between my father and his tepbrother, the sultan of Brunei Sheik Muda Hassanal Bolkiah.
As you may know from the international media,The sultan had accused my father of financial mismanagement and impropriety of us$14.8 billion dollars this was as a result of the Asian Financial crisis that made my father company Amedeo Development Company and government owned Brunei investment company to be declared bankrupt during his tenure in the office. However my father was kept under house arrest, his bank account and private properties including a crude oil export refinery were later confiscated by the sultanate to avoid further prosecution from the sultan and his security operatives, but before I could do that I was placed under house arrest by the sultan and not have access to phone but I have a palm V hand -held computer from which I am sending you this mail. This is why I require someone to buy me cubeworld.
