Fighting enemies with orange/red names will give you more than one XP
Just a heads up, you might want to keep an eye on your GPU temps. it's got no limiting so my card was hitting above 70c (which is fine) but i've got a lot of airflow in my case. that said, you might want to force vsync/triple buffering through your respective software.
so i don't get it, is this sort of like an MMO where your characters are tied to your account and you need to be logged in to play? or are characters tied to the server you're playing on? do i need an internet connection to play this?

No, you can play singleplayer offline I do believe, you only need the internet for multiplayer.
And you're characters are like making them in Terraria. They keep all their same stuff but you can make new worlds for them to explore.
characters are bound to your Account i believe, you can play on any server with any of your characters

characters are tied to your account, i'm pretty sure you can play offline since i believe it has LAN support

I made a mage with long white hair, and a long white beard and named him God. Went onto katbugs server and everyone found it fun, and went along with it. I got a gang of like 7 people.
Characters are not bound to account but rather saved locally. Remove gamefiles, character gets removed.
I like this Biter as a pet, his name is Bonesnapper for a reason! Also, my boomerang is pretty awesome!

What does Power mean, and how do I increase it? Since it won't let me equip any weapons that won't harmlessly brush off an enemy without a certain amount of power.
And what happens when a pet dies?
If you can bare smashing RMB on your crossbow, you do TONS of damage.
