Any word on modding? I agree that he is wasting potential awesome features like Voxel-Customization on the character but I dont think that its THAT drastic.
Amount of people who bought a game means nothing. i.e. MW3
I didn't mean it like that, somebody said it would "turn out like Minecraft" so I just showed the stats.
Any word on modding?
Once again, he's digging what could be a potential grave. I hope he lightens up a little.
He keeps saying "Not Planned" but what he doesn't realize is that, that doesn't answer the fucking question.
He keeps saying "Not Planned" but what he doesn't realize is that, that doesn't answer the fucking question.
Well, it does. He does not plan to add modding support, thus that means no. I'd rather him say "currently" and "not planned" as opposed to "no."
His answer leaves enough vagueness that isn't impossible.
And for those who don't know: So hopefully we'll have a playable version by the end of March. Not too far off!
My birthday is at the end of March, what an awesome present it would be to have it released at the same day :D
He's a indie developer so it might get released in Q2, who knows. It might get released in Q1 by the looks of it.

Will this game actually released on consoles? This game looks like it would be great to play with a controller.
[sp]gamepad support[/sp]
It's a pity we might not get modding support, though the game still looks pretty good.
I don't think you need modding for a game like this, it looks to be a fun game where you kill things and sell their loot with a ~swag~ look. I just wish he did cortex command thing and let us pay him so we could play with alphas. Also the overgrowth thing. So we can play his fucking game. I don't give a fuck if there's bugs, I want to customize an elf wizard and kill things.

We paid for an alpha and we get an update every 6 months, or even every year. The guy's bought a ton of useless crap and doesn't care about the community. Overgrowth is different, the devs are amazing. Most of us look down on the pay for alpha now, after the minecraft disaster called "Notch's vacation" Well, I don't know for everyone else, but I'd much rather pay for a fully fledged game than an alpha and wait for years until the game is complete.
It's fine without modding i think. I would like a more complete game to play for hours upon hours this time, rather than some open world blocky game that's never finished.
I sent him an email earlier today regarding the block limit on swords and possible cosmetic blocks on them, it'd be cool if he answered.

Overgrowth isn't a pile of shit, just because Notch decided that since his alpha made shit tons of money he can release an incomplete product doesn't mean that this is a flawed marketing strategy. Cortex Command wasn't a failure either. I bought it long ago, when the builds were in single digits. I had so much fun playing it. I enjoyed it more than most AAA titles. I modded it back then, making my own bases long before it was implemented. GMod did the same thing almost, just without telling you guys. Pre-10 a ftp mod? Then suddenly a p2p mod? It's almost like we beta-tested for free. Then a final product was released, and it was good. I rather play the game now, have my fun, enjoy my experience, than wait for the "finished" product because the game is more valuable to me NOW than in MARCH.
Getting a little tired of all the voxel games to be honest.
And i'm sick of all the COD: Modern Warfare clones, that doesn't stop people from doing it.
-snip- wrong thread

Seriously man, I give you boxes because your post quality is bad and you're acting like an impatient child that wants his Christmas toys in September.
I get that people want to be able to dig/mine, but I think it doesn't makes sense for the style of game he's going for. It seems very RPG esque, and being able to dig through blocks could cause problems (i.e. Big castle you're supposed to explore through, you just dig through a wall and skip several sections.) However, I get that people want to be able to do landscaping around their house. I think the easiest solution is to have a set number of "dirt" blocks that you can dig through, but once you hit stone you can't dig any further. Maybe add in some sort of dynamite that isn't easy to attain but blows through the harder materials? I agree you should be able to flatten out the land in a way, but I really wouldn't want to see "destroy any block" like it is in minecraft. I'd rather gain materials through fighting mobs, exploring dungeons, opening chests, etc. etc. To me that seems to be what the style of the game is meant to be.
Any word on modding?
Once again, he's digging what could be a potential grave.
Didn't he say you can still edit the armor? Minecraft doesn't have modding support. It doesn't mean you can't mod it.
Minecraft is written in java though, which makes it a lot easier to mod than most games without modding support. Maybe I'm wrong, Skyrim has gotten a lot of mods even before the full modding kit was released, but the mods are very limited until the tools come out.
Whether this game will be constantly updated with new content like Minecraft/Terraria?
I definitely can't wait for this. I don't mind that he isn't adding mining into it. One of the most annoying parts of Minecraft was having to mine so much just to find anything good. I personally just enjoyed building large shite that looked good.
I think too many people in this thread want a Minecraft 2.0 rather than a action-adventure RPG set in a voxel world
I think too many people in this thread want a Minecraft 2.0 rather than a action-adventure RPG set in a voxel world
Only thing I care about that he is denying is mining. But that aside, people want their ideal sandbox game, minecraft was expected to be the ideal game, but turned out not to be it.
I'm curious if the generated worlds are going to work on a continent-ocean-continent structure or a constant land mass everything in between. I'm hoping we get world gen options, perhaps a limited world option where it's confined to one continent.
