Shot placement and the armor piercing values of calibers matter more than the useless "damage" stat on the weapons - basically you should not judge weapons based on their stats because they're an unreliable gauge of usefulness. [QUOTE=Beacon;41624026]don't play with any mods[/QUOTE] Zone Reclamation Project (unofficial bugfix) can be recommended as it does not really change the game but it can allow for things like faction mechanics repairing weapons and armor which was a feature cut out from the game and it fixes some bugs of the game. It's not critical by any means but if you're going to play with something other than vanilla then ZRP is the way to go.

I won't play with any mods on my first playthrough, and since I'm going in almost blind (All I know about STALKER is that it's set around Chernobyl after the explosion, and you scavenge things and try to survive against mutants and other scavengers.), it's nice knowing that thing about weapons. Now I wait for it to finish downloading.

Just bought CoP and CS. Already played SoC so I'm gonna start with CS. I heard it was quite buggy; are there any fix-up mods that I should use (nothing too extreme, of course)?
